View Full Version : Trades In FOF07

I've played 4 full seasons now and have never been approached by an AI team for a trade.
Do AI teams ever approach player teams or do all trades have to be initiated by the player?
I'm playing a league as the Bears starting in 1985 and using the historical rosters and draft classes so surely someone would be interested in some players on my roster?
I've also never been able to trade up or down during the draft or make a draft picks only trade at any time. In fact in the 4 seasons I've played I think I've only made 2 trades in total.
I offered my first 5 draft picks to move up from 32 to 1,2,3,4 or 5 but I had no takers. Maybe those ball clubs all had needs to fill but surely there was value in what I was offering?
This may have been asked before but is this just how things are or have I just been unlucky?
Also it might be nice to be able to shop your draft picks as well as players?

I usually get approached at least once per year, but that's with game-generated draft classes. I don't know for sure what might happen with historical ones, but my first guess is that the players on your team are too expensive. The AI usually only asks for younger, cheaper players.

Many people think this is outdated, particularly for the top 5 picks (undervalueing them) But I'd recommend peaking at the draft chart that has been out there (you can get a copy at www.fof-ihof.com/files/draftchart.xls (http://www.fof-ihof.com/files/draftchart.xls))
According to this the 1.5 is worth 1700 points. Your first 5 picks are worth 1047.4 points. So a difference of 652.6 points - or the same value as the 1.29.
And that's if you just go this flat points system. Most wouldn't trade the 1.5 for the 1.29, 1.32, 2.32, 3.32, 4.32, 5.32...
Note: I have NO idea if FOF uses this chart in any way, shape, or form.

Another way to look at this..
Would YOU take the trade you offered?

I had no idea my offer would be so far out. :o
I'm from the UK and although I like to think my football knowledge is pretty good I didn't realise the huge value assigned to the top 5 or so 1st round picks.
Then again some folks trade down quite often IRL.
As I'm just getting to grips with the game I'm using the historical rosters rather than random ones so that I have a working knowledge of players and draft classes which I'm hoping transfers into game stats. It certainly seemed to do with Cody Carlson my first attempt at snagging a franchise QB 14/57. :p
Thanks for the help.

Surprising how many U.K. guys are around FOFC and FOF in general, considering the sport is very minor here. I guess we have a strong cult following, mainly 30 somethings who followed it during the late 80's/early 90's when it was popular here?

Yup. Got me pinned.
Started following the Bears in '84 when I was at school.
I love sports sims and there haven't been that many decent Gridiron ones over the years but I'm slowly getting into FOF. :)
I just need to get my head around the salary cap a little more. :D

I only play with the historical draft until 2007 when i go into my TCY files for the rest. Pre 2007 I have at least 1 and sometimes 2 trade offers for my players every year, but never in season, only pre exhibition games.. Sometimes they are good offers(my backup qb's garner decent interest) and most of the time avg, offers.

Come on us English (and provincial cousins)
Ive toyed with the idea of trying to get a GB MP league based on FOFCers home towns started up before but never got round to it

Hi,
Sometimes the AI will offer me a trade. I have to check my e-mail to find the offer.
