View Full Version : Need Some Good Wishes for my Dog

Just woke up to the news that my dog is pooping out a ton of blood. He has been totally healthy, but just started to show signs of being sick two nights ago. It was nothing we haven't seen before, but obviously this is new.

It could be worms or parasites which is what I'm hoping for because that's usually easily treatable but I can't help but think it's something worse.

Has anyone else's dog gone through something like this?

The weird thing is, early this morning when I went to bed he looked like the was feeling much better. Like I said, he's been under the weather but looked like he was coming around...but now this.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Actually my lil terrier had this problem - i don't recall what it was but it wasn't worms/parasites but something more to do with digestion and the intestine, and now he's on a special diet (including canned food and special kibble) and he's totally fine.

Thanks DT. That makes me feel a little better. My best guess right now is something called Giardia. The other day, I thought nothing of it, but my dog didn't make it outside and this was litteraly the worst smelling thing I've ever smelled. Supposedly, one of the symptoms of Giardia is diarrhea that is extremely foul smelling as well as bloody diarrhea.

3:45 can't come soon enough.

Anyone else lucky enough to finish lunch and read this thread immediately afterwards?

Best of luck. Just please avoid the details near lunch time.

Mine has had a couple of bouts of digestive stuff over the past month. Vet took a blood test last week that seemed OK though and the medicine they gave him had him back to his old self by the weekend. Good luck to you with yours -- a friend of ours dog has had Giardia and it was easily treated.

im dog sitting for somebody and their boxer that they rescued and is coming back from quite the malnourishment, threw up a sock today. Me's thinkin' that this sock was taking up quite a bit of the dogs stomach and not allowing it to eat as much as it shouldve been eating. Im also hoping that this morning was a day in which the dog's weight takes off!

I once had a dog that ate my then-gf's panty liner. It got stuck coming out and I had to pull it out of his ass. Good times.

Hope everything works out alright.

I think poisons can cause those symptoms, so if it is an outdoor dog that could be the culprit.

Hopefully he took him out to the dog park after receiving a clean bill of health.

Sorry for the delay in updating...

Doc says he'll be fine. He gave us some special food, some medicine, and injected him with this fluid like substance that gave him this gigantic lump on the left side of his back. It looked pretty funny.

He did a few blood tests and said that everything looked fine. We just have to keep an eye on him over the next few days and see what happens. I'm still a little worried, but the vet seemed extremely confident that everything was okay and that he'd be fine.

:)

Thanks for all the good thoughts.

Glad to hear ... we have a 9 year old German Shepard who has had numerous stomach issues. For years now we have had two sets of pills, one for throw up and one for the other end. She can only eat Science Diet sensitive stomach and can only get veggies as snacks ... she hates it when the younger pup gets treats so we always give her a carrot when that happens.

Hope all works out and it was just a diet issue.

Good god, did you need to conjure up that image again?

Congrats on the good news Jet, I was just thinking tonight on the way home after a shitty day how my Dogs are always happy to see me no matter what else happens. I like them more than a lot of people sometimes :)

Glad things are going to be ok!
