Just some quick hits from the fiddling around with my new camera I did last night and today. :)

My Bernese Mountain dog, Bubba, taken with 10x zoom
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00012.jpg
I forget the zoom, but this was taken from all the way across one end of the dining room to the other and is a close-up of the curtains on my parents' dining room window.

[i]Part of the dining room leading into the kitchen. A normal shot. i.e. no zoom
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00023.jpg
A 20x zoom (even though the box says the lens only goes to 10x of a granola bar box from one end of the kitchen to the other. The telephoto on this thing is incredible.
Outdoor pics next. :)

With no people on the street, I wound up taking a lot of flower pics.

Dandelion - Front lawn - 10x zoom
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00036.jpg
Same dandelion - 20x zoom

Some of Mom's lilac bushes - Normal shot
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00038.jpg
Closeup of lilacs - Don't remember zoom
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00041.jpg
Don't recall zoom on this one
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00042.jpg
Just to show that it's possible to zoom in too close so the camera can't focus
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00043.jpg
Lessened zoom, but still too much. I was figuring out the boundaries
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00044.jpg
Zoom wasn't that much on this, maybe 4 or 5x? The last in the boundary figuring lilac series
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00039.jpg
Some of Mom's yellow tulips
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00040.jpg
A detail of a tulip. Don't remember zoom
Dad wants to head off for supper, but I've got a few more outdoor pics to post, including a pairing that demonstrates just how filthy this zoom is.

My grandpa and I spent a summer building what was to be a clubhouse when I was like 10 or 11. Unfortunately it turned into a storage shed because I never did have friends over and it was brutally hot in there in the summer.
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00048.jpg
Close-up of door latch. Forget the zoom
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00049.jpg
20x zoom, taken from considerable distance away
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00050.jpg
Another 20x zoom detail, taken when I walked closer as I was experimenting with different distances
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00033.jpg
Normal range shot, taken from the porch of my parents' house
And the real sign of the telephoto's awesomeness:
http://i341.photobucket.com/albums/o395/Izulde08/DSC00051.jpg
Remember the brick house from the last picture? 20x zoom, taken from the side of my parents' house so an even further distance than the porch. And yet, I was able to get this level of detail from there
That's all for today. :)

Isn't the 10x optical zoom and the rest digital zoom?

I think you're right. That would explain it. :)
I always wondered about that.
Thanks for clearing it up.
I love the little flag in the first post's third pic :)
Seriously now, the flowers ones look really amazing.

Loved the flowers, closeup of the dog, closeup of nail in the shed, and bricks from across the street pics.
Pretty awesome pics Izulde!

Icy: I thought you might appreciate the flag. :D And thanks :)
Lorena: Thanks :) I love how the camera auto-detects specific modes such as flower-picture taking mode. It allows for gorgeous pictures. Now if I can just find a bird of paradise again somewhere...
