New OOTP online league

Trying to gauge interest in forming a new MP league. It will be much in the vein of the long running RWBL.

We will use the new version of out of the park.

Real teams and players. Most likely default rosters
Tentative sim pattern
15 days per Sim.
3 sims per week

All former RWBL owners are encouraged to join. As well as anyone else

Aiming for a mid to late June start.

A few teams have been tentatively claimed.

I dunno if we can catch lightning in a bottle twice. But it is worth a shot.

Finances will be adjusted most likely. Not a true salary cap though.

Anyways if you want to get in on the ground floor post interest in this thread

Denote which 2 to 3 teams you'd accept.
If anyone has some surplus web space that would be great. Also looking for someone interested in leadership roles. This will be our league, not my league.

I'm either going to be the Phils Yanks or Pirates. There will be some sort of revenue type sharing most likely. Basically at its simplistic form it will most likely be a payroll tax kicking in at 100M, and dollar for dollar by 150M Also a salary floor. But we will have to look at the in game financials to be certain.

I'm not sadistic enough to take San Francisco just to destroy them from within, and I'm not mentally fucked up enough to take an AL team.

Basically the Yankees will be the major revenue team getting murdered, redsox/angels/a few others will be slightly affected(probably paying 15m or less in tax).

Sigh. If I break down and join (and I'm trying hard not to right now, don't really want another league, but I'm weak) I'm sure I can fix that problem for the Red Sox in a few short seasons...

I'm not even sure how a revenue thing would totally be implemented, but if it's anything it's going to be a "use it or lose it" type dispersment. No banking cash. If the Pirates generate 60m in spendable reserves, the top teams would be augmenting them so their payroll can increase. It's not going to be where the Pirates make 60m, spend 40m, bank 20m of their own money, and then bank(for example) a 15m revenue sharing check.

And it's a gradual season or two thing, since there's not a lot you can do about the initial contracts.

Since we are using opening day rosters, I will attempt to fix the draft properly for the first june(with comp picks for type A's if possible).

Essentially at least the attempt would be to get all teams to a league average revenue based on the previous season(or at least augment them somewhat to adjust for market-size).

I'm not that good at design type work, but as I mentioned earlier, I have a ton of web space and bandwidth available. I have both Microsoft and Linux, so we wouldn't be tied to a particular architecture.

I had a few time commitment issues in the past, but am able to give it a good run now. If you end up needing an extra owner, I will step up and take any team that nobody else wants. :)

That's already handled, unless Steve wants people want it hosted somewhere other then dreamhost (my host). I actually have a license of vBulletin that I've been trying to put to good use for well over a year now that might even be useful for us now too. I really hated phpBB3 when we moved from 2 to 3 in the old league but anything was better then that XMB that they used to run on the OOTP league hosted sites, thank god I found a tool to convert it to phpBB back then. :)

Anyway, I don't design, I usually make stuff work.

Back when the RWBL was mercy killed there was some talk of reforming. At least trying to make it happen and adding a bunch of good new people.

I think there's about 3 openings by my count. For now, though, any new requests probably will be moving onto the waiting list, as I'm trying to get confirmations with a few (good old owner type)people for those last few spots.

I'm sure it will be one of those things where a few people decide they don't have time, etc, so as it gets closer to the actual opening of the league. Will work on getting forums set up over the next few days, etc.

OOTP is usually somewhat decent about making sure that subsequent patches don't run leagues. But I imagine we won't start until the first patch is out, which to me usually seems like one comes out 2-3 weeks after release.

No let's see brief league history of me.

League started year 2002, I joined in league year 2007 (these are league years not real years). The Dodger owner quit in 2014 and I picked them up and managed them till the league closed in 2034.

Looking back on the history pages, I still think that Edwin Ryan might be the most spectacular computer-generated sim athlete of all time. If the league hadn't shut down the guy would have cleared 900 homers without breaking a sweat and if he stayed in Colorado instead of moving to the Toronto Talent Drops, he might have challenged 1,000.

He will blame it on the roster makers for the bad situation they left him in (since there's no prior owner) and he'll trash whoever takes over the team and restores it since all they need is a IQ slightly higher than 40 to outfox "Anthony" the tough guy.

We are entering the offseason on Sunday. Giants mirror their real life. Lots of stud pitching. Limited hitting.

Prefer a rwbl vet but it is open to anyone. The offsesson basically runs every day. The rest of the time it is 15 game days on Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday.

We have 3 seasons done so we are on a 6 to 7 seasons per year pace.

No compatibility issues with different OS's. The only issue is generally the entire league needs to run the same version. (Not always the case but usually your version has to match exactly the same version as the commish). In past years sometimes the mac patch was a little more delayed than the PC patch which caused problems. I don't think they are planning on that happening again this year, but that is the only catch if it does ever happen again.

Well, the other thing is that the league is currently on OOTPX, so you've got a little while before that's a concern (i.e. if/when the league converts to 11).

At this point in time, all the X patching that's gonna get done should be done. So join away.

Yours uploaded correctly, but it was late and it didn't get used. So you'll need to update your league file to the newest file and re-export.
