And there's an ant, just chilling on my TV/monitor.
I don't mean a pussy little black california ant.
I mean, like, something out of fucking Greyditch, for those of you who have played Fallout 3.
It's not a fire ant, but it is a huge fucking monstrosity.
It's just chilling, it's not moving, it doesn't respond to my movements or the TV turning on. So I think, well, radiation probably killed it or something. I get a napkin, go to wipe it off the monitor, and the minute two-ply touches ant, it goes batshit kamikaze, falling off my monitor, scurrying under the keyboard, and when I lift that up, bolting for the back of my desk where I can't get to it.
Remember the radiation I was talking about?
I think this business is about to get out of control.

I suggest exploring the wastes until you get something better than a napkin.

What was its coloration? Was it fuzzy? Some large looking ants could actually be the flightless sex of certain types of wasps.

Drop a sandbag on it to smother it to death.
And yeah, I saw what I think was a flightless wasp the other day, easily could be confused for an ant(now that I know that Flightless wasps exist, anyways)

I'm freaked out by this spider loose in my room - Front Office Football Central (http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/showthread.php?t=68038&highlight=black+widow)

I've seen about a dozen or so in the last three days in here. When ants invaded in California, they were much smaller, but there would be millions of the little fuckers.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure there's anything I can find in the wastes that wouldn't be horribly, horribly destructive to my apartment integrity. I have a lease to think about!

Black and smooth. I am pretty confident these are ants.

I'm working at my desk at home and look down and see this guy on my t-shirt the other day.

I was driving home from the grocery store on Sunday and a spider crawled out from somewhere and started crawling up the door frame towards me. he wasn't in any particular hurry, but he was certainly making slow, steady progress to a point where he could jump down and eat me. I opened the window and thought about flicking him out, but figured the wind would push him back into my hair, where he would either eat me or plant eggs in my ear so that future generations could dine on me.
so, in the end, I had to smush him.

There needs to be a warning in threads containing insect images. After seeing certain bugs, I get the feeling that something is crawling on my skin.

I had a spider descend onto me from the headliner in my car one night on the interstate. Luckily I was the only one on the road so my subsequent careening across three lanes to the shoulder, following by jumping out and then locating and killing said spider, endangered no one but myself (and the spider).

We get those in our apartment at least twice a week now. My wife squealed when she found one this morning. I had never seen one before moving to Virginia. They're little scaredy things, tho and run at the first sign of you going after them. Maybe we should ship some to SA- they apparently eat ants :)

I got one of those when I was building that 8 hour cabinet. Had no idea what it was, but it scared the shit out of me, since it came out from behind my desk, about a foot from my face, while I was hunched over a screwdriver.

We get these too.
I believe they're commonly referred to as "house centipedes."

Harmless, ugly as hell, and extremely quick.

Exterminator came. Turns out, my Herculean Camponotus visitors were these little guys here.
Wonder why they've such an affinity for my computer monitor/TV.
