Basically there are video out there of Andrews in a hotel room that someone shot through a peep hole. All I heard originally was Erin Andrews nude, so I was pumped, but it sucks it happened this way. It's just too hard to enjoy.
Should be interesting how it plays out.
LOS ANGELES, July 17, 2009 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ ----With respect to recent Internet postings of Erin Andrews, she has authorized her attorney, Marshall B. Grossman of Bingham McCutchen LLP, to issue the following statement:
"While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent. She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future. Although the perpetrator or perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material. We request respect of Erin's privacy at this time, while she and her representatives are working with the authorities."

I mean, it was good stuff, but it wasn't like a porn tape where any celebrity runs the risk of it being leaked, this was just some creepy dude with a video camera unbeknown to her. That blows. Still hot though.

As someone who works in that industry, I'm just amazed Google did so much for a relatively minor celebrity.

I had no trouble finding it with Google. A name, a video search, and safe search off makes some searches very easy. BTW, these are four months old, weird it took so long for it to blow up on the internets.

If you install Real Player they have an option that lets you save just about any video you come across on the internet, it's pretty nice. You just hover over the video and a little option pops up on the top right side of the video to download it. Of course you have to be in Windows for that and I am not right now.

Finally found it. They removed the cache on all the sites that were ranked high (never seen that before) as well as scrubbed the Google news results to eliminate many of the stories.
Anyways, the story and video seem fishy to me. You can't tell if it's her at all. The video has apparently been up on an unknown porn site for months. If it was someone who stalked her and got the video, they'd have sent it to a larger site and gotten the publicity. Not put it up on some tiny porn site. It's also looks more like something made for a voyeur porn site. I mean how many girls do their hair completely nude while standing in a direct line of the keyhole.
The press release from her attorney is on PRNewswire. It's a site where anyone can post a press release on their own. I could say I'm the pope in one and it will get through. If the lawyer is going to release something, why wouldn't he go through the normal routes and get it on some major media outlets? Why rely on a little known online PR service that doens't have great syndication.
My guess is that it's not her. That ESPN/Disney overreacted and sent out letters demanding it be pulled. The blogs shit their pants thinking that ESPN/Disney was giving it legitimacy and some savvy prankster sent out a PR on PRNewswire to troll the everyone.

Here is the thing though, this didn't blow up for everyone to know about until AFTER ESPN tried to get them taken down. After four months of no one really caring, and no way of really knowing it's her, then why not just ignore it and deny it if it ever became more public (on the level it is now). Also, not sure where you got the "unknown porn site" from, as I read and see that they have been on Dailymotion for 4 months, hardly an unknown porn site.
My guess is it's her, though I gues for her sake I hope it's not.
I do feel bad for the woman, it's a crappy thing to do to someone. It would probably be hard to ignore like I suggested above though if you knew it was you. I guess at that point maybe it's better to some people to have more people see you naked and be able to go after the guys who did it.

I definitely feel bad for her (although it didn't stop me from finding/watching it) but I have to say, given that it has been out there so long w/ little fanfare, the lawyers really did her a disservice. Had I not known who I was watching, I would've just thought, "hey, that's a hot blonde chick." In fact, Erin Andrews wouldn't have been my first guess at who it was (would've probably guessed Bridget from The Girls Next Door show). The drama that the lawyer involvement has created had to have sent tons of people (including me) out looking for it.

And that was kind of my point. This has now blown up from a complete non-story/on-line urban legend basically into a "yes, that's me" as every male now scrambles to find it. The lawyers, probably at Disney's or Andrew's behest, have blown this into an issue when it could've just faded away.

If you're right, that's just kind of sad on her part. You'd think with her connections, beauty, and (seeming) intelligence, she could break out without having a lackey film her in the buff.

Just so I'm clear, people think that Erin Andrews (who I don't think has ever so much as posed in a bathing suit even though she has an army of internet fans) suddenly decided to film herself naked, leave it online for four months, then get her lawyers to remove all traces of it as soon as there was any publicity?

Not quite what I'm saying. However, this video has been out there for 4 months with not a peep out of anybody regarding it. All of a sudden, after her appearance at the ESPY awards on Wednesday, wearing a dress worn by quite a few starlets over the past couple years, the timing of the lawyers asking that it be removed, all of a sudden, is alarming. Why did this website suddenly break the news of this video, 4 months late? Did someone point them to the video? And I'm not saying it was Andrews' people doing it, but with the rise in popularity of people who star in sex tapes becoming celebrities, it does seem a bit, suspicious. In my opinion.

What is the shelf life for sideline reporters? EA is hot now. Is she able to capitalize on that with ESPN/Disney? I'd have to think that working for them is pretty restrictive. I'm not sure exactly what else she could do beyond posing for a few "lad mags" and maybe hosting something like Poker After Dark, but how long would she stick with the college football gig?
That said, I think the possibility that there is any plan behind the scenes to spin this for her benefit is pretty remote. Not impossible, but remote.

Secretly recording people to catch them nude is not something I would give a "job well done" to. If she were planning to blow up a building nude, then fine, but just being nude no. Complete invasion of privacy, and if it was "hotel staff" I hope the hotel gets screwed in the end because that is even worse to me then just some random guy sneeking upskirt shots.

EA also doesn't need this as a publicity stunt to try to break through to the mass media. She's been trying to get on "Dancing with the Stars" for a while and even talked to the people behind it. It's mostly them saying yes to it and handling her scheduling, ie she can't do the fall one. It's a huge no-brainer since it involves ABC and ESPN.

I've heard it several times now that folks analyzing things have found several inconsistencies that point to things being from at least two different hotels. TMZ was latest to post this.
I've heard it too, but that doesn't mean it's correct (they're regular CSIs over there at TMZ, right?)
It's possible. It's also possible that if this was a regular setup (not just a guy filming EA, but a guy who filmed multiple women using the same method) that shots could have been taken from multiple peepholes.

Considering that ESPN is now on the record as assisting authorities determine whether it was an inside job, if it was arranged then it wasn't approved at the top of ESPN. "In conjunction with Erin's attorneys and appropriate authorities, we are exploring all possibilities," said ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz. "
ESPN assisting Andrews video investigators *| ajc.com (http://www.ajc.com/sports/espn-assisting-andrews-video-97854.html?cxntlid=homepage_tab_newstab)
The story will probably get a little more play locally here than some other markets I imagine simply because Andrews lives in Atlanta.
edit to add: Meanwhile, Lord knows I'm not the most sympathetic guy in the world but there's a quote in that story that kind of chapped me a little bit.
"Not everyone is so sympathetic. Veteran sportswriter Christine Brennan, posting on Twitter, said, “Andrews incident is bad, but to add perspective: there are 100s of women sports journalists who have never had this happen to them.” "
Yes Mzzzzz. Brennan there are. But how many other women sports journalists could any fan pick out of a police lineup, much less recognize on video of any kind? I'm pretty damned sure that Mzzzzz. Brennan isn't one of them except in the vaguest sense (since her column was the origin of the ridiculous flap about membership at Augusta National) and no matter how many awards she's won for her thrilling writing on women's figure skating this sounds like pretty sour grapes from a 50 year old that can't stand the fact that virtually no mainstream sports fan would know who the fuck she is nor give a damn if they did.

You arrange for a peeping tom video of yourself to help you become a bigger star when you've already made inroads through legit means to be on one of the biggest TV shows currently out there?
You get somebody to take the bullet of civil and criminal charges being brought against them in some screwed up false hope it helps you become a bigger star?

When I was traveling for business I often tried to get the same room. Since pretty much every hallway looks the same it's pretty annoying to go out the door in the morning and be completely turned around from where you think you are. Of course, in a fire, being turned around like that could be a real problem.
Plus, and this happened to me as well, if you stay in the same hotel enough but keep changing rooms (& floors) you sometimes end up hunting for your room, or even the right floor, because you can't remember where you are this time.
All of this is easily solved by yourself, of course, but hotels want to be accommodating (no pun intended) to business travelers and know that giving them a room they request for these reasons goes a long way towards building goodwill.

You know how offices do that thing like sending around an email like "As many of you know, Phyllis has been out with the flu all weeks, so we are getting together a goodie/feel-better basket for her and her family . . . "
You need to do the same thing: "As many of you know, James has been arrested by federal agents for interstate stalking. Even if he manages to avoid jail time he probably won't be able to travel or use the internet for quite a while, which is a big burden for an interstate stalker. I am thinking of making a goodie basket/good luck in prison basket for him, and will leave a donation box in the break room. . . ."
