Starting in 2022, the team will be known by a new name and carry a new look, picked from fan submissions after the local newspaper and local artists were commissioned to submit readers designs or to draw up one of their own. Team owner Julio Riddols sat down and went through over 50 different submissions from local artists around Dekalb County, with the winning submission being voted on by fans after Riddols had narrowed the list down to 5 finalists. The winning submission was submitted by an art teacher fittingly, Myra Clemons of Snapfinger Elementary School. The team has awarded the school with 500 tickets for their home game this season against Tucker, and the kids will get to see the action from right on the 50 yard line behind the Jazz bench. The team is looking forward to showing off for the kids week 10.

When it came time to unveil the new uniforms, a crowd had gathered in the parking lot at the Snapfinger Super 8 to see how the new color scheme of Green, Gold, Purple and White would look on a couple of the Snapfinger "Player Models", Georgia native CB Jeff McElroy and former Bulldog star, RB Walt Donovan. McElroy, who modeled the "Away" uniforms, weighed in with his verdict on the new identity: "I definitely dig the name, what with all the history of jazz as an art around here.. Joe Williams is someone my father turned me on to when I was young and my grandfather was into him as well. Duke Pearson, all those guys." But what about the uniforms? "As far as the look, the uniform looks good now, but I can't wait to get out and get it dirty real soon."

For RB Donovan, in the dark Home uniform, the new look "Might give opponents a false sense of security, you know.. We lull em to sleep with some of that smooth jazz, then out of nowhere hit em with the sweet chin music and its lights out." Donovan was signing autographs with McElroy for an hour or so after, and had time to meet and greet some of the new fans. Jeremiah Reese, 13, of Lithonia, was one of the lucky ones to spend some time playing catch with McElroy as the crowd began to disperse. " My oldest brother is a big fan of Tucker, but we always used to both like the Condors. 'Mack' (McElroy) played against my brother in high school once and ever since
the Condors drafted him, he calls and talks trash when they play Tucker, so me and my dad came here tonight to tell (McElroy) about it so he can make (my brother) shut up."

One thing is clear: Fans of football in Georgia will have their hands full of rivalries for the foreseeable future.

HOME -------------------- AWAY
