With a name like semenya, I expect they're onto something.

First inquirer: Semen?

Investigator: Ya.

Judge: Ok, DQ the dude.

I read another article in the NYT about this today. I find it rather mindboggling that none of these articles feel compelled to explain why gender testing needs to be done. I'm aware of the subject and did enough advanced biology courses that I understand. But I think it's safe to say that 95% of people reading this article are wondering, "Gender test? Um, what?" You would think they would feel compelled to explain the issue some if they're going to write a news article on the subject.

I always thought Serena Williams was the sexiest MAN on the face of the planet. :)

LOL, there absolute refusal to take any steroid tests proved to me Serena was a man. I always watched her expecting her dick to fall out at any moment.

I never understood why the Williams sisters got a free pass for Steroids??

+1 (on the steroids part, not the sentiments about who is or is not the sexiest man on the planet)

There is testing on the WTA tour. They get tested. Failure to take a test results in a 12-24 month ban on the first offense.

Clearly we've found a much better subject for this testing effort.

A more detailed article today in the NYT which suggests some of the ways gender can be a murky issue for sports.

I don't even need to read the article to know that they mean "the WNBA."

This is a thorny issue for sports. How do you deal with someone who is basically female in all physical and cultural respects, but has a biological advantage due to, for example, extra testosterone. Force her to compete against men because of a biological oddity, or let her compete "unfairly" against the women? Not a pleasant spot to be in.

Don't forget tennis and college softball. Oh, and yachting. Can't forget that one.

The throny issue goes beyond sports. Imagine trying to get married in the US with one of these conditions.

That sure as hell looks like a guy.Right there is your new track and field Commisioner.

Only Hot chicks with big boobs should be allowed to compete. Count me down for season tickets if you ever want to start your own league. :)
