As most of you already know from this thread (http://operationsports.com/fofc/showthread.php?t=66610&highlight=gottimd), longtime FOFCer, NAFL Co-Commissioner and my good friend Seth Gottesmann (gottimd) passed away last December. In order to establish a trust fund for the son he never got to meet, Gabriel Seth Gottesmann, born June 17, 2009, friends and family members have created the annual "Seth Gottesmann Memorial Shootout," a golf tournament to be held on September 21st at P.B. Dye Golf Club in Ijamsville, MD.

I posted about the tournament and sponsorship/donation opportunities in that aforementioned thread, and I hope some of you were able to give. Even better, it would be great if anyone in the area wished to attend. All of the sponsorship information is available on the website (http://www.sggolftournament.com/).

The real reason for this thread, though, is to seek potential volunteers. The members of the NAFL (http://www.naflsim.com/), both past and present, generously came together and donated to become Bronze-level sponsors of the event. I'm so incredibly proud of those who gave, as it shows the family just a tiny fraction of what Seth meant to us.

Along with the sponsorship comes a 4-person team entry, and unfortunately, with guys spread all across the globe, it appears the NAFL isn't able to send 4. So, I'm looking to do the next best thing, find a few golfers who would like to represent our league at the tournament. It is possible that we could have one or two of our own members there, but it's also possible that we won't.

If you are a regular and knew gottimd here on FOFC, it's all the better. I know it's going to be a fantastic event, and I would love for our team members to return with stories/photos.

Anyway, if you think you might be able to go and would like to represent the NAFL, please post here or send me a PM. I'm still waiting to hear back from a couple of NAFL GMs, but I need to get registration information to the organizers within the next couple of weeks.

where exactly is Ijamsville, MD, in relation to say, baltimore.

It's probably about an hour west of Baltimore... Towards Frederick.

I should probably point out that while you'll have to pay your travel expenses to get there, of course, the NAFL sponsorship covers the cost of the event itself, including the golf, a box lunch, after round beer & wine and a buffet dinner. So you wouldn't be out anything for that. I'd only expect you to represent the NAFL well and then take some pictures.

I would love to attend, however 1) I suck right now at golf, and; 2) am unable to get the day off from work.

Good luck though to all who volunteer and participate, this is a great thing they are doing.

Received this information today and though I'd pass it on to FOFC. Still looking for a team to represent the NAFL on September 21st, so let me know if you're interested. Word is that it's going to be a large event with well over 100 participants.

Anyway, gottimd's friends and family are putting together an NFL Suicide Pool in his honor. Here are the details:

We are doing an NFL Suicide Pool this year with 50% of the money going to the winner, and 50% of the money going to various causes, including the SADS Foundation. The SADS Foundation funds research to help save lives, and also provides support to families who have dealt with sudden death due to heart rhythm abnormalities. Since your league is comprised of many NFL fans, we wanted to pass along the info to you. Should be a lot of fun and obviously for a good cause. Anyone is welcome so please feel free to pass along to whomever. Here is the info...

NFL Survivor Pool called LAISSEZ LES BONS TEMPS ROULER .

The pool is being hosted on a website called officefootballpool.com.

Bumping this again as we get closer to the date. If you're interested in playing in the golf tournament, send me a PM or post here.

Bumping one last time. The NAFL has 3 GMs (2 current and 1 former) that will be attending the tournament to represent us. There's still room for one more if anyone is interested. If so, I need to know ASAP.

It's time for the 2nd Annual Seth Gottesmann Memorial Shootout. I received the following information from the organizers, and although I'm not sure the NAFL will be able to send a team this year to play, I am collecting for an NAFL donation through Paypal. I know there are many past NAFL members out there, so if anyone would like to contribute, send to cuckoo7077 AT sbcglobal.net

Last year, you helped us raise over $10,000 for Gabriel Seth Gottesmann's trust. Thanks to each of you, the 1st Annual Seth Gottesmann Memorial Shoot Out was a rousing success, and that success is directly attributable to the impact that Seth had on so many people throughout his life. As promised, we intend to keep this tradition going, and on October 1st, we will host the 2nd Annual Seth Gottesmann Memorial Shoot Out.

Once again, the beautiful P.B. Dye Golf Club in Ijamsville, MD (www.pbdyegolf.com) will host the event, and we have a have a multitude of sponsorship opportunities that are outlined on the website. Although the sponsorship levels provide a variety of financial contributions, number of golfers, and sponsor recognition, one theme remains consistent across each of the levels: EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR of sponsorship contribution will go directly to Gabriel's trust.

We thank you for supporting the event last year, and we hope that you will consider being a part of this year's event. Your willingness to sponsor in any capacity will have a meaningful and lifelong impact on Gabe and the entire Gottesmann family. To sign up as a participant or sponsor, please visit our website at www.sggolftournament.com, or contact us via phone or email. For your convenience, we are also attaching this year's sponsorship letter.

We hope that this message finds you well and thanks again for your support.

Quick bump on this. There are a couple that expressed interest in donating but haven't yet done so. If you can/plan to, please do so ASAP and/or let me know. I'd like to get the total NAFL submission made in the next day or two.
