You want to talk about records that may never be broken? Well, with Keith Smith of the Lion's being released today, Ernie Sims is now the only remaining player from the 2002-06 drafts still with the Lions. Out of 39 drafted players, only one remains.
I cannot fathom this happening to any other NFL teams, not even the Bengals.
Maybe it's a reason why the Lion's don't ever have many run ins with the law, most of their guys are off the team before they get that chance.
Anyway, there is something for you to chew on during the football season when your favorite team starts to suck. You can say well, it could be worse.

Heh. I read that as "Kevin Smith." I was about to talk some serious smack to the guy who just drafted him in our fantasy league.

The Lions continue to be the joke of professional sports. It is rather sad actually. Until the Ford family sells the team (or at least the son gets control of things), this franchise will continue to be inept.

As well as the Steelers and Patriots tend to draft, not a single one of the players they drafted between 1975-1979 remain on the rosters.
Looks like all Detroit has to do is release Sims & they'll be a serious contender!
Ernie Sims is greater then your life.

Yeah, but I really like Schwartz and think he can really get this team going. Mayhew hasn't been too bad so far either.
I see a 1-15 season. I know I'm going out on a limb, but although I've been a Lions fan since birth, I'm still always optimistic.

The Rams are nearly as bad.

The Rams are the proof of just how amazing a coach Dick Vermeil is.

So did I, and I was thinking "there's no way the Lions are THAT stupid, is there?"

Or trade him for a WR

It's shameful how horrible the Lions have drafted. It didn't really end in 2006. I will be that, over the next 2-3 years, there wont be that many players from the 2007 or 2008 drafts either.
2007:
Calvin Johnson is here to stay.
Stanton has looked decent in pre-season games against 3rd stringers, but is constantly injured. His future is doubtful.
Alama-Francis is a fringer player at best.
Gerald Alexander is gone.
AJ Davis is gone
Johnny Baldwin is gone.
Manny Ramirez is a backup.
Ramzee Robinson is a fringe guy/backup.
So, the Lions have 5 players left from 2007, only 1 of which is a starter and some of which may not make the 53 man roster this year.
I still have trouble believing that the Lions were in a position to draft Paul Poslusnzy in the second round in 2007. They had huge gaping hole at middle linebacker and he was one of the best players still available. Instead of drafting him, they trade down and pick up Stanton. That move (among many others) still boggles the mind.

The problem is the Lions are drafting steroid-using baseball players.

A little update after cuts have been made:
Calvin Johnson is on the team.
Stanton is on the team.
Alama-Francis is gone.
Gerald Alexander is gone.
AJ Davis is gone
Johnny Baldwin is gone.
Manny Ramirez is on the team.
Ramzee Robinson is gone.
So, they have three players left from 2007 and now 4 players total from 2002-2007. 4 players over 6 years of drafting.

But at least Calvin is a fucking monster. That's seriously all I got.

Agreed.
Seriosuly, I know a lot goes into drafting and building a team, but I could almost guarantee you that if you and I had bought a few draft magazines each year, spent a couple weekends in advance going over them, and simply watched as many college football games as we normally would, we could have drafted better than the Lions did between 2002-2007. Easily. It's not like they unearthed any gems by thinking "outside the box".

I'd confirm this. All we need to do is hit on the first round picks and we would have accomplished something. I mean .. Mike fucking Williams?
