Hello, I have just recently been looking for a good college football text-based game and I found The College Years. I have fallen in the love to say the least. There are still some things I'm not to sure about.
1) Is there any chance of a TCY: 2 or anything of this nature?
2) Can a TCY draft class go to the FOF 2007?
3) Is there any way to change how many teams are in each conference or if they have a championship game?
4) Is there any way to edit bowl tie ins?
5) Is there any way to get rid of the Solecismic Conference?
6) Is there any way to add another week to the schedule?
Thanks,
Illini

Thanks for the quick response! How good is the export from TCY to FOF?

Well, there's some known issues. It inflates the talent pool in FOF considerably and it pretty much ignores college statistics and seems to be based on ratings. So you'll see guys get drafted high who had little or no playing time in college. Granted, I don't know how prevelant this is. Someone with more experience would better be able to tell you than I would. :)

Yeah, it's based on 'hard-wired' ratings, so unfortunately you get situations where the best QB in the draft has barely played in college. That said, I would say 85% of the time it's not bad. That's just me, though. Some people really hate it. Also, as mentioned, there's a bit too many good players. Over time it seems like every team in the (pro) league will have a good QB, a few will have great ones, and no one will be stuck with a poor one. Give it a shot, though, you may find it tolerable.
I love the idea of importing draft classes so much that I put up with it and it's still enjoyable for me. A TCY2 would be awesome (in fact it's the best sports sim I've ever played, FOF included) but I wouldn't count on it anytime soon.

Once the league gets filled with TCY players, decision-making just goes away. Free agency becomes a matter of finding which 65/65 starter or 55/55 backup is the cheapest one. And the decision of whether to keep a starter who is asking for too much money becomes a no-brainer: no need, just use the 55/55 backup you have, and draft a new 65/65 starter in the 2nd-4th round.

Good to know, I have been wondering about the import for awhile now. Just haven't gotten around to really messing with it. With what you all are saying, I probably won't bother with, I prefer having to make decisions.

One thing about TCY as a standalone product.. probably "THE" hardest text sim I've ever played.... and I used TCY helper to boot. ;)

You might want to check out Bowl Bound College Football if you're into college football.

BBCF = high coaching, medium recruiting
TCY = little to no coaching, very high recruiting
Depends what you are looking to do in the game. Both are good imho.

I had been looking at both of the games and for me I love recruiting so I went with TCY. It is really a shame that there isn't a TCY:2. So nobody has been able to edit this game to make it where you can change everything?
Thanks,
Illini
