Mine is Charlie Batch.
He was good enough for the Lions to get rid of Scott Mitchell. I believe he was the last QB to hand off to Barry Sanders. He had the last decent stable QB the Lions had. Rather than go from team to team trying to be a star QB, he went home, found a niche as the backup, and busts his ass to be ready when needed. When he takes the helm for Big Ben, he is no slouch.

Eye heart Charlie too, though I wouldn't call him my favorite player (I haven't thought about it enough to decide). In retrospect, the Lions would have been a lot better off just giving him the ball, rather than fooling around with everyone else. But I'm not sure even Tom Brady could survive going 0-10 to start a season.
He was also amazing in FOF Classic and FOF2, putting up career statistics that compared favorably with Peyton and some guy from San Diego - I forget his name.

Anthony Carter was my favorite, then it was Randy Moss now it is Adrian Peterson.
In baseball no one will ever surpass Kirby Puckett in my eyes.

I've sort of grown out of having a favorite player, but back when I did for the Lions it was Chris Spielman.
I actually have a Chris Spielman jersey. I got it when I worked at a sporting good store for 50% off. It's really nice. I've only worn it a few times, however. I sort of grown out of the wearing jersey phase (only exception is when attending a Red Wings playoff game) and every time I wore the Spielman jersey the Lions didn't just lose, they got destroyed. This was even before the Millen Era.

I remember that.
My all-time favorite players are Dan Marino and Greg Maddux, there aren't any current players I like as much as those guys.

Marino is easily my favorite player ever. He is the Def Leppard of football - basically, untouchable because he caught me during my formative years when stronger bonds were made with sports and music.
Other favorites include Peyton Manning, O.J. McDuffie, Terrell Davis, and Zach Thomas.

When I was a kid growing up in DC, it was Ricky Sanders of the famed Posse.
Art Monk, Gary Clark, and Ricky Sanders. I wore 83 in HS because he was my favorite player.
Today it would be Dallas Clark. I like good tight ends.

John Elway is my favorite football player ever. I became a fan of his when he was in college, and I was determined to become a fan of whatever pro team he played for. That's how I became a Broncos fan even though I'm originally from New Orleans. What I realized recently is that I no longer have a favorite player on my favorite team. All the players I really liked for the Broncos have retired: John Elway, Steve Atwater, Terrell Davis, Rod Smith, Ed McCaffrey, Al Wilson, Shannon Sharpe, etc., etc. All gone. I'm still a Broncos fan and want them to win, but I don't have a favorite player on the team anymore.
If I had to choose a favorite current player in the entire NFL, I would go with Drew Brees. That's partly because of how impressive he is on the field, but it's probably more because of his interaction with the city of New Orleans. Call it a soft spot for my hometown, I guess.

My favorite football player ever is Sir Charles Woodson, mainly because his freshman year was when I really became a diehard college football fan. Then, during the NC season, I met him after a game and he talked to us for like 15 minutes. No one else was around and he was just the coolest guy. My dad's friend, who is an alumni and got us outside the locker room was saying he is the real Slash, and Woodson laughed and goes, "Nah, I am not Slash, I am gonna' actually do something in the NFL".
#2 forever.

Growing up and when I first started watching football it was Warren Moon. These days, Walter Jones hands down. Unfortunately it looks like his career may end on a down note, but I'm still hoping he can make a come back from the knee surgeries and go out on his own terms.

Philip Rivers for football, although if Shady does well in Philly, he could be right up there.
Favorite all time hockey player was Arturs Irbe.
Peavy's my favorite baseball player, although I might need a new one since he got traded.

Hines Ward, with the 2 (hopefully more) Super Bowls, has taken over for me and will probably last, as it feels kind of strange to worship/idolize someone 10+ years younger than me (other than Pat White, of course :) ).
Mario Lemieux is obviously up there, too. He is just all around amazing.

Magic Johnson and Ryne Sandberg were my favorites growing up and no pro athlete has ever come anywhere close since.
And of course there's a long list of Tar Heel basketball players. My favorites ever were of course from when I was younger, Kenny Smith, Rick Fox and George Lynch were strong favorites and I always rooted for them in the pros(except for when Fox was with the Celtics, ugh).
More recently its all Tar Heels... Antawn Jamison, Julius Peppers, Felton, Sean May, Lawson. I loved Peppers as a Tar Heel basketball player.

Back in the Day:
Football: Marino, followed by Michael Irvin
Baseball: Sandberg and Ripken
Basketball: Bird, followed by Jordan
Hockey: Forsberg (got into hockey about a decade later than other sports)
Now:
Football: Marion Barber
Basketball: Deron Williams, with Wade as a distant second
Baseball: still shaking off the Mark Prior flameout. I'm a big Gordan Beckham fanboy right now despite him playing for the wrong side of town.
Hockey: none, I just have not seen enough live hockey over the last couple of years to really warm up to younger players.

Baseball: Bobby Jenks, even though the big boy's struggling right now, and Alexei Ramirez.

Favorites in order from being a young boy, Joe Montana, Jim Harbaugh, Rich Gannon. Since then I have players I like such as Bledsoe, P. Manning, Asoumugha, Peterson, and quite a few others, but no favorite favorite like before.
In basketball Kobe was my favorite before the whole rape trial stuff. Never had a standout favorite in hockey or probably not baseball either, but plenty of players I like.

Hard to say with this current crop of Colts. Peyton's everyone's choice and I do really like him. Wayne, Clark, Hayden...lots of others, would be hard to pick a favorite.
Growing up, I did have one. I really like Albert Bentley. He was the Colts' workhorse back. Never complained after the Dickerson trade....always ran the ball hard and even led the Colts in receptions one year. Good player.
As for IU, I was always a big Calbert Cheaney fan in basketball, Anthony Thompson in football.

When I was a kid:
Kirk Gibson... not sure why I liked him, he was an ass to a lot of people, but he was a hometown guy and his world series homerun in 1988 is something I will never forget.
Now:
Don't really have a favorite, but Mark Sanchez is making a case.

Kirby Puckett as a kid...a short, squatty body playing a gold-glove center field applied to me. People would look at me and couldn't believe I might have some athleticism to me.

Todd Bell was my first influence. Made me choose 25 as my number (i was a safety).
But I will always be indebted to Jordan for turning the Bulls around. There weren't many Bulls fans pre-Jordan, but if you were one (like me) then there's no describing what he meant. Put it this way, we thought Reggie Theus was a prototype 2-guard.
