First off, hi all I have been lurking the past few days since buying FoF. My real team has gone downhill (Raiders), my fantasy team is 0-3, so I figured that I would give something different a shot for a change of pace.

Well, this ain't going well either...

So, I downloaded the updated roster, cool logos, and was ready to roll with my Raiders.

Ugh! Is there any formula for turning around a team, or am I just as senile as my dear owner Mr. Davis? :)

I see buttons I cannot select such as Weights, Summer, and Interview. I did simulate a few seasons to see if that would open up those buttons but no such luck.

Is there anyway to improve a Rookie QB during the year? Does playing him make him better, or am I just killing the kid? I did trade for a nice Rook, but I don't want to get Jamarcus's panties in a bunch if I am not helping my new rookie.

I guess I am asking is there some formula for improving your team during the season? A hidden "make em better" button or the likes? Yes, I know that does not exist, but I see you can train after a season, do players improve during and can I facilitate this.

Anyhow, nice to be able to post (Thanks Ben)

Welcome.

The three buttons you're talking about work like this:

Weights

You do this right before training camp. When the "Training Camp" button at the the top left, go into your roster and do any weight training you'd like to do with certain players.

Summer

This button is available to 2nd year players during the Franchise Tag stage.

Interview

You can do Interviews during the free agency period before the draft.

Hope this helps.

Those are available during the preseason. Weight training during late FA and maybe early FA, can't remember. The summer league option is available during the same sim where you designate franchise players. Interviewing should only be available for potential draftees.

Yeah, playing time will help a player improve. There's no risk of screwing him up by playing him too much early on (other than injuries, of course)

Thanks for the answers, and one more if I may...

Is there some documentation somewhere that describes all of the abbreviations, icons, and color status for the round circles on all of the pages?

Thanks again,
Munkie!

You'll also want to look for a QB who is listed as Mentor to Quarterbacks on the left hand side of the card. They're typically older QBs and having one on the roster will help your rookie develop.

Munkie! If you hit F1 on any screen in FOF, it takes you to context-sensitive help. I *think* there's documentation on the icons and whatnot, but it has been a while since I needed those. If you don't find it by hitting F1, feel free to ask specific questions, and I'm sure someone will help.

Also look at the FOF2k7 reference thread. Lots of literature to keep you busy for hours. But the FOF series has been out for quite a while so make friends with the search button, it'll be your best friend. Chances are someone has had the same questions at some point, so you'll find what your looking for, sometimes a little more.

Thanks for the mentor tip, and F1 does have context sensitive help.

Thanks very much,

and then when you get the hang of everything you join a multi player online league and test those new found skills. You need to go to the reference thread that is at the top of the forum. everything you want to now can be found in these forums.

I was checking that out before I got access, and all the info led me to more and more questions as I had no idea the level of detail in FOF.

I am on info overload at this point.

Thanks again for the assist,
