I thought this might be kind of a fun group exercise.

Imagine the creation of a game that simulates a simmer. In other words, a text-sim that somehow quantifies and “games” the aspects of our lives that set us apart as simulation gamers.

So…

What elements of our lives as gamers do you think would be covered? What ratings would we have? Here’s a few off the top of my head:

Intelligence An obvious rating.

Patience How patient are you with a game, and on the flip side how frustrated do you get with games and why?

Bugs What is your reaction to software bugs? (tied to patience, no doubt)

Game Manual Do you bother reading the manual? How does this affect your gaming?

Player Aids Are you a do-your-own chart freak?

Add-ons & Mods Do you go for these, and/or create them yourself?

Cheat Codes Use them?

Wealth How much cashola do you have for your gaming hobby?

Willingness to Spend Wealth How often do you pull the trigger on new games? Do you always buy them new?

Significant other Got one? What’s the impact on your gaming life?

Game System How state-of-the-art is your machine? Are you a PC gamer, a console gamer, or both? How does this affect your gaming tendencies?

Game Types Sports, strategy (turn-based or RTS), wargames, FPS, RPG, adventure, sims, what?

What else would need to get rated, and what elements of the game would you add?

To expand on the girlfriend feature from TCY, it should include a girlfriend/kleenex feature.

Endurance How long can you play consecutively without succumbing to hunger, sleep, or human contact?

D'oh! I was intending to add that one and just forgot. Good pick-up.

On a related note, how about the imprint of gaming on the real world? In other words, seeing the world differently because of the game you ar currently playing. Or dreaming about ratings, ratings, RATINGS! :o
