And if so, we should get a FOFC night going sometime. I haven't had much chance to play lately due to a cold type bug, but I'd like to get some of the old group together

I deleted my Toon, but my daughter has been playing for a bit and I have a Death Knight that I can play.

I play but not as much as I used to because of school. Probably a few times a week and really never on the weekend, I spend that time with my wife usually.
Saldana plays regularly.
Sal and I both have toons on Lighteninghoof. He has an 80 hunter and a priest around 40. I have a 67 mage and a 55 warrior. All Horde.
We both also have toons on Lothar. The only one I really play on there is my 57 alliance rogue, and I play it almost exclusivly these days.
we use ventrilo to chat when we play. I would love to play with you guys if I can find the time.
What servers are you guys on? I would be cool with rolling a new toon also.

I have a few 80's on Akama. Though my hunter Deretha from the old FOFC guild is the best geared of them.

well, DC, I'll tell ya what. They're having a special right now.. they have a "Refer-a-friend" option that you get your first month and the base game (you'd be able to play 6 of the 8 races, and up to level 60 content) for $5. Can I tempt ya? :D

Recovering addict here as well - been "clean" for about 8 months. My problem is that my favorite part of the game is end-game raiding, and it is not possible to participate in that facet of the game without an absolutely ridiculous time-commitment. I am very happy with the time I spent as a hardcore raider - I led a guild who achieved four server-firsts in Ulduar, and also managed to down OS 3-Drake while it was current content. Those six or so months were easily my favorite time playing the game. I just couldn't keep up with juggling the (massive) ego problems of running a competitive guild, keeping my toon up to the best of his ability, learning and applying new strategies and preparing not only my toon, but my entire guild for raids with consumables, etc.
I still have two 80's (Rogue and Druid) and 4 70+ toons on Detheroc Alliance side, but I've let my accounts go inactive. I want badly to reactivate for Frozen Throne, but realistically, although I'm best in slot everywhere pre-Ulduar, I'm not geared enough for progression content, and I no longer have a guild. Once it's been up for a while, I may troll the recruiting forums to see if someone will take on a melée DPS who knows his class, doesn't care about loot, and just wants to see the content. Even so, I'm not sure I can put in the time simply to farm for raid consumables anymore.

I am the total opposite of Vince. I have no interest in raiding at all. I don't think I could deal with the massive weenies and how seriously they take it. I prefer to solo or play with a very select group of people I know. I enjoy leveling up and getting new gear, etc... but I have just had to many bad experiences with immature dicks in instance groups. I will almost never run an instance unless it is with a friend in real life or someone from my guild. I have even had bad experiences with people from my own guild. I just can't handle people who are total weenies, which is about 95% of the people who play.
That being said I do love the game, I just think I play it different then most people. For me hitting 80 is almost like ending the game.

Account is currently inactive, but hasn't been all that long since I played. Have 2 80s and 2 70+ on Moonrunner.
Also have the toon on Moon Guard from when we played before (think he's at 60) but don't even remember what class he is.

I really enjoyed the game up to level 70 (I was level 58 when Burning Crusade was released), but was hooked completely and totally by the massive scripted encounters of raiding. I had to put up with an absolute travesty of errors and douchebags to raid, but I can't begin to tell you the amazing feeling that was downing that boss we had been working on for two weeks. To be able to share that with 24 other people was simply amazing.
I have low level guys on several different servers. I'm an altoholic and I think the highest level I've ever been is 43 or something. Yes I'm lame.

I still play regularly, although "regularly" tends to mean a couple of hours twice a week along with a 3-hour raid on Wednesday nights. I happen to be in a great (and big) guild, and this has made a ton of difference. I raid with a "2nd-tier" group of raiders (to differentiate us from the hard-core progression types) and we just do Wednesdays, welcoming in new raiders and learning the fights and also teaching those new to raiding how to deal with the mechanics involved. Very laid back and fun, and yet we've still managed to get about 3/4ths of the way through Ulduar.
The other great thing about being in a big & friendly guild is that there's almost always enough people to get together for 5-mans, and generally a ton of lower-level alts for lower content.
So, it remains enjoyable, and I'm happy I've been able to see, and contribute to downing, "endgame" content without putting in a huge time commitment.

Stopped playing a few months ago. Someone (dubb?) started a dual-boxing dynasty and it looked interesting so I gave it a shot. Was fun, but I needed to cut a few monthly expenses and two WoW accounts was a bit too much, and I was playing other games so I canceled the subscriptions. I plan to get back into it (dual-boxing) sometime in the future when I get done playing the games I have now.

Yea that was me. Dual-boxing was fun but I found out that it just wasn't my cup of tea. I think both of those characters from the dynasty are still at the level 17 mark they were, and like you, I canceled the second account.

I haven't played since the beginning of August or something. My wife became rather tired of me playing so much, and it is a huge time commitment, especially raiding.
I have several 70's and at least one 80. Not sure that I want to play again, but I might be up for it again at some point.
I tend to play the same way as you Lathum. Level 80 is the goal, then all that is left is the absurd rep grinding, achievements, and PvP.
So are the majority of the people here on the horde side, or alliance?

I personally can't stand PvP which is probably why I don't play my Mage and Warrior as much. They are on the first server I used and me and Sal are on there for a few reasons. I would love to move them to the server my Rogue is on but I would also have to switch factions and that is an expense I can't justify to my wife.

$30 per faction change and $25 for a server move. So it would be $110 for me to do it for my 2 mains. No way I can sell that to my wife, which sucks because I am in an awesome guild on the alliance server I am on. Lothar.
I rolled a hunter alt on that server, but I didn't get into it, to much trouble controlling my pet and such.

Not sure how everyone feels about rolling new toons, but I would be willing to roll a new toon, preferable on a non-pvp server, and we could all level up together.
Obviously some people can play more than others, but as people level up faster no reason they can't help someone else level.

i play pretty much every night
I capped 80 about a month ago and got into a guild that is kind enough to help carry a fresh cap through heroics and 10 mans...im up to 25 man naxx now, and have gotten helped along into some harder stuff...one thing i have realized that it isnt all just about gear...more of it is knowing what to do in certain fights, which is made a WHOLE lot easier with DeadlyBossMods (i recommend it if you dont have it)
my priest on Lightninghoof is at 48
on Lothar, I have a 50 Tauren Druid and 65 Tauren DK, plus a 31 Draeni Pally
i would definitely roll a new toon on any realm we can agree on and commit one or two nights a week to playing with you guys, i think it would be alot of fun
i have a vent server (only 10 slot, but easily expandable) that I would be happy to give to everyone to use

@ vince, pt2, if you havent seen this site yet go to www.wow-heroes.com (http://www.wow-heroes.com) and put in your toon...you will be surprised that your gear from Uludar is not nearly as outdated as you think it might be....the only thing that came out since then was ToC and the revamped Onyxia, which was only a half tier increase...the big jump is going to be next week when 3.3. drops and the ICC tier 10s start coming out, but they are going to open the citadel in four stages, so the very last part, Fall of Arthas, probably wont be unlocked til February...i would bet you arent nearly as gear-challenged as you think

Tues-Thurs 2-10 (All times eastern)
Fri/Sat 6 PM-2AM (but I work from home, so if it's quiet, I can do it)
Here's what I'm thinking.
Server: Moonguard or Sentinels
Possible Times: 10:30 PM WED or THUR, or 8:00 PM FRI/SAT, or during the SNF game or MNF games
Race: Allies
Roll up and zerg out all the stuff, I'm pretty sure if we get a group up (5 or so), we can get out of Elwynn (and Pornshire) in one night.

We get a group of folks together and pretty much do all of the same quests and we can blow through them quickly.
Zerg is a race in StarCraft. Their early units were quick and easy to build, so there was a MP strategy of building lots of them and killing your opponents quickly, thus the term Zerg or Zerging was born.

I am out for sure if it is a Saturday or Sunday, I spend those days with my wife, my choice, not her being a bitch about me gaming.
10:30 PM on a weeknight seems pretty late to start playing for people on the east coast.

During the MNF game would probably be the best for me I can start really anytime.

its 15 bucks a month, unless you buy multiple months at a time...i buy in 3 month chunks and it is 12.99 each i think
also, if you want to start, hit one of us up for a trial membership, which gets you 10 days free, and then if/when you buy the game, you get a month of free play time, so the first 40 days end up being free
you also get some benefits from being a referred friend, most importantly the ability to summon one another to anywhere in the world, and 3x experience points for killing mobs and turning in quests any time you are playing with the person that referred you.

The base game is $5 right now through the gift a friend program (the one that lets you get to L60, and use all the races except Draneai and Blood Elves and all the classes except Death Knights:
Here's the monthly costs per their page
$14.99 USD - One Month Recurring

Sentinels: choose a race from the allies (you'll have Human, Dwarf, Night Elf, and gnome) avaialable).
I'd choose warrior as your first go round, it's simple (at lower levels), and you have a high level of armor, but any race can be done as a go round

So if I wanted to start the trial version how do I go upon doing so? What server, race, ect.? Not sure if I'm ready to commit to the $15 a month but for I'll have 14 free days to decide ;)
if you want a refer-a-friend number (which like i said, gives you and the person that is already a player some bonuses), pm me you email address and i will send you an invite...that invite will have a link for you to follow to create an account...once you create the account, which will include your credit card information even though nothing will get charged until you activate the full version.
after you get an account, you will have to download the client, which takes awhile...after that, you will be able to log in and it will take you to the Realm Selection screen....we are going to go to the Sentinels realm and roll Alliance characters, which means Human, Dwarf, Gnome, Night Elf, or Draenei.
I will be rolling a Draenei, and I think Foz said he would be going Dwarf...nice thing about dwarves and gnomes is that they start together, and have easy access to humans...night elves and draenei will have to do a little bit of work to get to everyone else in Stormwind (human/alliance capital city)
as far as classes go, Warriors and Paladins are the tank classes, but as they level can be used to be damage dealers. Mages, Hunters, and Warlocks are ranged damage dealers. Rogues are Melee damage dealers. Druids and Shamans can be anthing...tanks, melee or ranged damage, or healers Priests can be either healers or ranged damage dealers
if you go to WoW -> Info -> Classes (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/index.html)
there are some simple pro/con lists for each class and tells you what kind of armor and weapons you can use

Shamans can heal, be very good melee dps or very good caster dps. They can't tank.
Though as we are playing alliance you won't have access to the shaman unless you have an account with the Burning Crusade expansion attached to it.

There are limits to the trial version due in large part to gold farmers. Anyone with a full version of the game can invite you to a group, and you can quest with them, but you will not be able to start a group by yourself. You won't be able to trade items with each other. There may be others but those are the 2 big ones that come up when starting out.
I'm probably going to roll a mage, or a shaman not sure yet but both will fill the ranged dps role we seem to need.

Well, my gear from Ulduar...doesn't exist. I quit shortly after we started Ulduar (we were one of two guilds on our server working on Vezax), and was pretty unlucky on drops our first two trips through. So I didn't end up getting any Ulduar gear at all. While I'm as decked out as you can get otherwise (including every single rogue weapon), I'd still be a tier behind. I haven't looked into the new raid instance after Ulduar, so I'm not sure how tough it would be to drag my lower DPS through there...or how hard itnwould be to convince a guild to drag me through Ulduar to get my gear up to snuff.
That being said, you're not helping me stay away :)

TotC is pretty easy. As long as you can pull around 3-3.5k dps you'll be fine. The fights are pretty easy, and there's no trash. A decent pug on my server can usually clear it in a little over an hour.

Sad to say but, if you were to come back for the 3.3 patch all the heroic instances will drop the emblems of triumph that currently get you the basic tier 9 gear for TotC. So all you would have to do is farm heroics for a little bit and get geared up.

someone explain the cross realm instance concept in single language please.
when you enter an instance, you actually leave your regular Realm (lothar for instance) and enter an instance server that is shared with about a dozen other Realms that are part of your Battlegroup. When you play PvP battlegrounds (which are actually instances), you are actually playing with people from other realms in your battlegroup...the same thing now can be done for regular instances...you can enter the Random PUG list, and as soon as there are 5 guys on the list from any other Realms in your battlegroup, they will launch you into the instance.
by increasing the number of people looking for group by 12, it should make it ridiculously easy to get into PUGs...i know you hate them, but i dont plan on ever doing another quest with either of my healers...i figure i should be able to grind levels out in pugs pretty fast.

That's not completely fair. The realm first on my server was a pretty normal guy that also raided and worked. He took a weeks vacation from work when WoLK dropped in order to take at stab at the realm first.
Hell, I was level 77 when our realm first 80 happened so I was pretty far along as well at that point.

Hard to say. Clearly there are still a ton of BoP items around. To date, Blizzard has introduced a bunch of items as BoA specifically for items that would make leveling alts easier (heirloom item) or using those alts at 80 easier (Helm & Shoulder enchants).
I doubt we'll see everything that's BoP eventually become BoA.

alot of the drops get disenchanted right in the instance (much to the dislike of enchanters) so the market for those mats might go down, but the market for actual enchants will will go up, since more people will have more mats that dont cost 3 arms and 4 legs.
as far as drops go, lets use my example from last night...me and Daxor ran 5 heroics...lets say there were 15 green or better drops, and none of them got DE'd...statistically, we should each have gotten 3 drops for a total of 30 items that came back to the Lightninghoof AH.
if we had run those same 5 heroics with all five guys being from the same realm, there would have been 75 items coming back to the AH.
if anything, this is going to create a seller's market (i guess you didnt really say if you thought it was going to be positive or negative impact)

I have toons on four realms, both horde and alliance. My alliance toons are much higher level though (an 80 and three 70+ toons).
I created a druid and mage on Sentinels (alliance), the druid is level 9 right now. The others are:
Durotan (alliance)
Cho'gall (horde)
Dark Iron (horde)

if we had run those same 5 heroics with all five guys being from the same realm, there would have been 75 items coming back to the AH.
if anything, this is going to create a seller's market (i guess you didnt really say if you thought it was going to be positive or negative impact)
How does adding more items create a sellers market? There is a finite number of different items. The more of those items that are introduced the less they are worth.

The cost of enchanting mats going down (due to greater availability on the AH) might be offset by the increased funds players have from running instances (and getting the cash rewards, including the new cash rewards from choosing "random"). Plus, in the short-term, as everyone gears up to Tier 10 and Emblems of Frost gear, enchanting mats (and jewels) will be back in demand as everyone re-enchants/re-gems their gear.

about 4 1/2 hours, and that was with 3 wipes in ToC and 3 more in HoS (crappy shaman healers that kept thinking they should stand IN FRONT of the tank)

there arent more items coming back...there are less because 4/5 of the items from each run are going to different realms

this is absolutely going to be true...i already need to get my gloves regemmed and reenchanted, and a new gem on my weapon, and thats only in 219s...by the time i get to 245s or whatever T10 is, i will have gone through 3 or 4 more sets of gems.

But there are more people runninig instances and doing them a lot faster.
Hypotheticaly 5 people from the same server want to run an instance, they have to get a pug, etc...
Those same 5 people from the same server will still run that instance now, just do it with 5 different groups, and do it faster. Which gives them time to run more instances and get more gear to list.

it is when your dps priest decides to pull the black knight before the tank, and the healer decides to stand between the tank and the risen ghoul so when it runs in, it pulls on the healer, who after you rescue him with a misdirect, decides to stand right next to the tank, and is apparently not running deadlybossmods or paying attention to which ghoul has the mark over his head becasue he is about to explode....i have never seen a healer get killed as fast as this guy did

the best was the tank, who is a RL friend, totally focused on the black night and trying to kite all the ghouls so he didnt see what was going on (i am a hunter, and was at the edge of my range, right where i should be, so I had a great view of the healer getting pwned)....when the tank dies without ever receiving a heal, he asked me where the hell the healer was...all i said was "he died first, in less than 10 seconds" and the slew of profanities was priceless.

The only wipes I see in HToC (and these are only PUGs - guild 5-mans sleep through HToC) are either:
1. Some unfortunate luck with Paletress when she summons the other mob (like the mob immediately ganking the healer).
2. People forgetting (or not seeing, for some reason) the exploding zombies during the Black Knight.
Having said that, even in PUGs I have always been able to clear it for the past two months or so even if (as with my most recent run, prior to 3.3) I had to do, literally, 50% of the overall damage on Black Knight. (See, we're not all huntards. :D )

I ran Deadmines last night using the new Dungeon Finder. It took about 5-10 minutes to get a group, but everything functioned well from there.
A couple of the folks in the group were 3-4 levels higher than me, so they pulled a lot of aggro. We wiped when we got to the ship and someone aggroed the whole damn boat, then the healer quit. We got a new healer quickly and finished up.
I got a really nice Rare belt from the goody bag.

Making gold can be ridiculously easy with the right professions. I'm inscription/herbalist. Right now I'm selling Vellums and Frost Lotus, before that I was crafting the cards but that relied on a little too much luck for my liking. Earlier this morning I hit 21k gold. There's a way to make thousands of gold a day with inscription by basically making every glyph in the game and selling them each for around 2-3g but you need a ton of addons and patience to make it work and I'm way too lazy for that.

1. Some unfortunate luck with Paletress when she summons the other mob (like the mob immediately ganking the healer).
If the healer gets killed by that mob they are an idiot. I have an 80 healer and imagine this.....when that add is spawned it spawns with a near empty threat table(whoever was the highest on the Paletress does start with just a little bit of threat on the add). The secret? It is really freaking simple, don't heal before the tank picks the add up or your heals will increase your threat over the tank's threat and bam, you are dead.
An even more simple solution is that if the add spawns on the healer the healer should take the time to run towards and behind the tank. That way there is no way you can pop off a heal before the tank gets threat. It really isn't hard, the add doesn't do anywhere close to enough damage that the healer can't wait until the tank has established threat before healing the tank up to full health.

this is why I don't run pug's.
I honestly can't believe you can play the game and not pug. I would say that my successful pug rate would be around 90%+. That ofcourse goes down once you get into raids and I would say that pug raids are probably below 50%, but hell that is what is a guild is for. I couldn't imagine never having a pug 5 man considering 5 mans are so easy that I have 3 manned alot of them, including heroics. My priest could literally keep a tank up in heroics for like 20 minutes before he would need mana. Hell I normally go an entire heroic run without a mana break. I can't imagine the fail you have seen to completely scare you off of pug 5 mans.

Hell, even pug 10 mans I would say have a pretty high success rate. You just have to keep in mind when raiding that even the top raid guilds in the world wipe.
The most common problem with pug raids is the first wipe you lose half the raid and have to fill it up again. The second wipe, you lose half of it again, rinse and repeat. You don't have the people leaving in guild runs but you still have the wipes. The shorter 10 mans can be pugged with no issue, it is the longer ones like naxx and ulduar that are a pain in the ass b/c they are so damn long and wiping is a part of clearing them, however in pugs a wipe=half the raid is now gone.

I...would rather not deal with wankers
But the wankers are the best part. Some of my most fond memories are in pugs with someone who just simply doesn't get it. The key is to not take it too seriously and just deal with it and laugh at it. Some of the stuff is absolute gold.
Like I had a warrior one time who was tanking type /yell HELP!!! every time he pulled. In his mind he had every enemy on him and thought the rest of us weren't doing anything. He just didn't get it even after explaining the concepts to him, in his mind we were all slacking off since they were all on him. I was healing this idiot and keeping him alive, but he still didn't get it. At times he would take off running like he thought if he ran far enough they would stop chasing him. Note: It doesn't work that way in instances.
I was laughing my ass off as I'm sure everyone else was. That was one of my most fond memories of playing WoW was the help yelling warrior who just didn't get it. Amazingly we never wiped and finished the run.

Then there are the people who need on everything, etc...

The thing is that most Pug wipes aren't the same wipes that a guild run gets - they're wipes because someone doesn't know what they are doing. Also, if you're lucky enough NOT to lose half your raid after the wipe, the 15 minute downtime while everyone figures out how to get back to where the boss is quickly loses you those that barely stayed anyways.
Sure, organized guilds wipe - on progression content. The reason I finally formed my own guild was because I was tired of wiping on bosses that should have been farm content, I was tired of wipe recovery taking ten minutes, and I was tired of having to explain every single nuance of a complex boss fight every time we pulled the boss. What was nice was that I had been playing on the same server long enough that I was able to surround myself with people who were able to take things seriously enough that I didn't have to be a dick about discipline, yet relaxed enough that our raids weren't boring as hell.
Turned out that running a guild was as much about juggling egos as it was about boss strategy and raid organization, if not moreso.

Well god forbid it is someones first time doing something.
I dunno, I think what I get out of WoW is different then most people.
A lot of this discussion brings up points that makes me shy away from higher level content. If I don't happen to be in an understanding PUG and I fuck up, I'm going to hear about it. I've run almost 0 instances so I'm not confident in my role or in the fights as they progress. I don't PUG as much as I'd like...when I actually start PUGing that is.

Well god forbid it is someones first time doing something.
There are issues with this though. You need to keep in mind that it takes 4 hours to complete some raids without any wipes. Add 15 minutes for each wipe, and if there is someone who doesn't know any of the fights in say naxx with 15 bosses and atleast one learning wipe per boss you have increased the naxx clear time to nearly 8 hours.
I for one simply don't have that kind of time and I think that anyone who expects 24 people to put up with their shit for 8 hours sound be willing to go to a website like tankspot.com and watch the damn boss videos so they know what the hell is going on before they get to the boss fights.
dubb93
12-16-2009, 10:03 AM
Infact in most serious guilds you are expected to know the boss fights you haven't even seen yet inside and out before you see it for the first time. I don't see why that expectation should just disappear when you opt to join a pug.
EDIT--Yes I do get annoyed when I start a pug and someone doesn't know the fights. I don't give a crap if you've done it before or not, if you are going to invest 4 hours(or 8 hours atleast if you come unprepared) into a raid you could atleast invest 2 hours watching videos and reading boss strat. If you aren't willing to watch the videos and read the strat then you have no business being in that raid since most raid bosses have 1 mechanic that if it isn't done will kill you and most likely at the very least someone else in the raid.

I will just never understand this. I get your concerns about the time commitment, but I just don't see the fun in a game if you know everything you are supposed to do, and frankly, I find it really odd that someone would not only spend all that time watching online how to do something, but that they would be expected to.

you guys realize that you are talking about 2 entirely different concepts...Dubb, you are talking about 10/25/40 mans...the people running that content are already capped and should know how to play their toons, run their rotations, and unless they are with a guild run that has been set up for the purpose of helping you learn the fights and get you gear, there is a reasonable expectation that they did some homework before coming in. (i thought a couple guys in my last naxx 10 were going to have strokes because one guy didnt know to switch sides when the polarity shift happened on the construct quarter boss....i had never been there before either, but HAD looked up how to do the fights so i didnt get killed in 5 seconds)
lathum is talking about running 5 mans..his highest toon is still in the 60s and hasnt even gotten all of the skills/spells that he will eventually have, and he hasnt seen alot of the content that requires more than tank n' spank strategy....there is still a learning curve, but alot of people dont remember that they were new once, and expect everyone to instinctively know that on the last boss in nexus, you have to keep jumping up and down....if youve never been there, you dont know that...lathums point is that instead of someone saying, before the fight starts, "Does everyone know this fight", or "remember to keep jumping so the frost doesnt stack on you", there are a shitton more people that will /p WHAT ARE YOU DOING IDIOT!!!!1!11!!
there is alot of leetism in WoW...alot of people assume that if you are on a toon that isnt an 80, it has to be an alt, because they have 3 or 4 80s and they ARE on an alt...causal players like lathum and a couple other friends of ours who are 77's and have never done a WotLK instance would take a raft of shit in pugs, but that doesnt mean they arent good players...just that they play the game differently, and for differernt reasons...IMO, that doenst mean they should have to be subjected to nerdrage from some 14yo kid because they are trying to see more of the game. (edit to add: not meant to infer that dubb is a 14yo with nerdrage...just used that example because Lathum and I actually had some kid who begged us to take him on our run start yelling at a friend of ours in RFK who was a level 23 warrior on his first toon for being in the wrong stance to DPS)

It has been a busy week for me too. I've had Christmas business all week. I don't think I will be there tonight. My wife and I are having a gift wrapping party and wrapping all of the kids' presents.

lathum and i were discussing that it might not be a bad idea to postpone any organized runs until after the holidays are over...thoughts?

That sounds like a good idea to me, especially postponing anything this week.

For those of you hitting 30 or so, you may want to check out this guide (http://www.wow-pro.com/leveling_guides/james_alliance_leveling_guide_-_chapter_i).
He has a step by step approach for efficient leveling. I started following it around level 34 so I was ahead of the curve, but the levels start coming pretty fast using it. They also have a add-on version that works in game.

Well god forbid it is someones first time doing something.
I dunno, I think what I get out of WoW is different then most people.
Rich and Dubb beat me to it, but I'll expand a little bit. I have absolutely no problem with someone who is in a new place that doesn't know what's going on. I do have a problem with someone who can't follow a simple direction such as "don't stand in the fire," or "don't start attacking until after the tank has established aggro." If you blow it, it's no big deal. If you blow it four times in a row...it begins to become a big deal. Even when something is a big deal, however, I'm not one to jump down anyone's throat - but I'm also not afraid to ask someone to leave, or to explain to the group why I have to leave.
The expectations are higher in a raid group, though I know that if I'm pugging, I need to lower my expectations a lot. Like Saldana said, there are two distinct groups of people that play Warcraft - raiders and casual gamers. As a former hardcore raider, it is difficult (though not impossible) for me to instance run with casuals, because i've grown accustomed to a higher level of familiarity with the game and it's mechanics from my groupmates. Mostly, however, the people that irritate me irritate me not because of their lack of knowledge of the game, but because of their personality and mannerisms. A polite person who is trying, even if they're the worst WoW player ever, is likely to get a lot more help from me than a stud player who is a dick.

Oh man, you guys are making me want to do a server transfer and dive in.
I have a nicely geared 80 dual spec Druid, though I must admit I prefer resto.
How big is the guild?

I haven't played WoW in about 2 years, but apparently someone has hacked my dormant account. Got an email saying it has been merged with a Battle.Net account and now I have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get it back. Worse, I have no idea how it was compromised so at this point everything is suspect.
Anyone else ever had their account hacked, and if so, ever figure out how it happened?
Lathum

Are you sure you were hacked? All accounts were required to switch to battlenet a few months ago. It may be that they finally got around to merging the dormant accounts and are letting people know.

My girlfriend had her level 80 hacked. No idea how, but then she logged on one day and saw she only had one copper.

I started up again after not playing paid-WoW for almost 2 years. Wow how things have changed...I have a lvl 65 on Scarlet Crusade and it was cool seeing all the new things. I want to start from scratch though with a new character - I know I played with you guys at one point, but I can't recall the server.

It is a game, that is just way to obsessive for me. I sign on, I play, I sign off.
Definition of a casual WoW player, nothing wrong with that, some people raid on a progression content level, and they get thier enjoyment of the game from that. That's why WoW continues to grow and get bigger, they have so many was you can "play" and enjoy the game. Games within the game so to speak.

The only issue is only a few people have invite privileges. Our GM should give everyone that is member on down invite privileges to fix that.
I should be on this evening and can invite you if you are on.

I created a dwarf hunter. I have played quite a bit over the years - although like I said earlier, this is the first time I have played in a year and a half or so - but this is only like the 3rd alliance character for me, so it will be fun checking out the areas I never really explored.

I'll volunteer. I've ran a guild before so I know how to setup all the permissions. I'll probably just give everyone rights to do invites and access a guild vault. That should help out.
