I was reading another thread that talked about fluctuations in the salary cap and how to make the best setting for it, but I was suprised to read that some people were playing "old style" type games such as from the 1960's with a much lower salary cap then FOF provides (some people were playing FOF with a salary cap of only 12 million!).

My question is, how do you lower the salary cap in FOF? And my other question is can you lower the salary cap in FOF2K4 (I never got 2K7 because I could not get the demo to work on my computer). Is this even possible in FOF2k4 and 2K7? How does one do it?

Pretty sure that's something that's set in the roster file when you start a game. I don't think you can decrease the salary cap once a game is running.

There are 2 ways.

1. Is to assign dead cap space to each team.
2. Go in and edit the data file for the game. I've seen it mentioned somewhere (either here or on a league message board) that someone has written a utility that can go in and edit that value.

If you have a CSV file you want to use, you can use PlayerFile.exe (it's in your main FOF folder), open the file, and choose whatever you want the starting cap to be. There are two threads here with the 2009 roster files, and some links in the reference thread to earlier roster and draft files. I believe the roster files go all the way back to 1960.

Also, you could create your own CSV file. Again, all the information you need is in your main FOF folder. Don't remember the names of the files that have the information about how to set up a CSV player file, however. I'm sure if you go through all the txt files, you'll find the correct ones.
