Why did anyone think the Steelers would kill the Browns? On the road on a short week? After losing to an almost equally hapless Raiders team? A Super Bowl win last year doesn't change the nature of the Steelers' struggles this year.

Steelers are the worst team in the NFL right now. I'm embarrassed that I actually typed a defense of these hacks a few weeks ago. I just loved the shuffling around at the end of the game. No urgency, didn't go to the no huddle, didn't really change things up at all. Arians needs to go at the end of the season. What a joke.

As much as I like Tomlin and his staff, it is tough not to pin these last few losses on the coaching staff w/ as close as the games have been and the calibre of teams they have been losing against. Up until tonight (w/ a pretty weak remaining schedule and Polamalu returning), I thought they could pull things together and comfortably get into the playoffs -- now, I think they keep hoping to play tough and win, but they need to see what they have in some of the young guys like Urbik, Hood, the cornerbacks, Sweed, etc.

The worst part is the lack of fire. They've been bad before, obviously, but they always seemed to play with some heart. That has been lacking this season. I say again, Arians should be fired at the end of the season. I'd fire him tonight, but that's not the way the Rooneys do things. Can't manage a single touchdown against the Browns? Really? Maybe it's time for Bruce to start discovering his calling in life, because it's not as an offensive football coach.

"Tomlin should be fired. Do you think Cowher would come back?"

"Limus Sweed should play over Ward."
"This is one of the most depressing days of my life. Last time I was this depressed my father died."

Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute after a police officer said he smelled marijuana in the player's SUV during a routine traffic stop Thursday night. ... The team is aware of the arrest, and Babineaux is set to meet with team offiicials Friday morning.
Babineaux was with another man, 25-year-old Aaron Robinson Minneapolis, who also was arrested. Robinson was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, a felony.
Babinaeux and Robinson were stopped around 10:45 p.m. Thursday as they drove north on I-85 in Babineaux's 2005 Cadillac Escalade EXT.
"It's cut and dry," Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli told the AJC. "He was stopped for a traffic violation."
Schiralli said the officer searched the SUV because he smelled marijuana. The officer found three bags containing a total of 40 grams of marijuana, Schiralli said.
In addition to the possession charges, Babineaux is charged with having no tag light and driving without a license and with an expired tag. He also was charged with tinting his car windows too much.

I don't know. I watched mostly the SU game last night, but when flipping back to the NFL game, I somehow saw 4 of the sacks. On 3 of them, they came AFTER 5 seconds. Any sack after 3.5 seconds in the NFL, its the QBs fault for not getting rid of the ball.

If you let that go you can just put the strongest DB you can find and have him push WRs out of the way until the DB is in position to make a INT. It is one thing if you push the WR out the way with your shoulder for a second, but the Atlanta DB did it for a good 20 yards. Easy and correct call, even if one hates to punish and take away the good defensive play at the end.

HoF is a pretty hearty prediction for a guy with only 3 1,000 seasons and 16 TD's at age 28. He is tough to project, though, since he spent almost all of his Miami time as primarily a return man. But who knows how long the NE offense can run at this pace?

History shows the Colts prefer resting players and making sure they are healthy for a SB run. Note the lack of playoff success for the Colts when they do this. Compare it to when they went full speed ahead ended up winning the SB. Colts admitted they won't do the push this year and face a possible lengthy cruise control mode. The Saints have said they would go for it.

It just seems put of their philosophy that they would rather rest players and kind of not worry so much about W-L at the end if it doesn't really matter. For a team that has dominated for as much as they have, they have one title to show for it.

dola, apparently the info on the colts comes from Peter King:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/peter_king/11/30/week12/1.html
I asked Caldwell if the Colts would handle the last two or three games of the year differently than they did under Dungy. You're familiar with the national debate about going for the undefeated season. The Patriots went for it in 2007 and got to 16-0, only to lose in the Super Bowl. The Colts have thumbed their noses at it, preferring to be in the best possible physical condition entering the playoffs. That's how Dungy and Bill Polian believed the season should be -- once you've earned home-field advantage, rest your players and be in good position for the second season. Caldwell sounded no different Sunday afternoon when we spoke.
"It'll be somewhat similar to what we've done,'' he said. "Going undefeated was always a secondary goal. I don't think we'll put too much emphasis on that.''

dola, apparently the info on the colts comes from Peter King:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/peter_king/11/30/week12/1.html
Sadly I do believe this to be the case. So what does this mean? If it is true the Colts will take a month off and then expect to defeat a team that has been running full steam ahead since week 1 and is good enough to make it past the first weekend of the playoffs. If they rest again I expect the Colts to get crushed in the playoffs again.
Here is a quote I heard from Polian following the win on the Colts radio network. The guy is a great team builder however I can see why he has not had much playoff success.
"It feels good not having to go down to Jacksonville on thursday and win.."
My mouth hit the floor. I honestly can't believe a guy could be so good at building up teams and then be such an idiot when it comes to common sense. You can't take a freaking month off and expect to beat an elite NFL team. You just can't simply do it. Hopefully the local media/fans make him see that he is being an idiot. Ultimately Polian is the boss and Caldwell(regardless what his true feelings are) is going to have to do what Polian says.

I guess the Giants defense is good evidence that sometimes the defensive coordinator can make all of the difference in how good a defense is. It's nice that they stopped them on the goal line, but it looks like the Eagles could spend all night moving down the field with ease.
And can Celek and McNabb act like bigger babies over not getting a flag? McNabb was literally flailing his arms and legs while on the ground over it.

I just wonder when the Eagles do this crazy stuff like sticking Vick at WR if they actually expect the Giants to believe he is going to run a route. I mean seriously how much deception is their in a play like that at the 1 yard line. Over coaching again Reid it will cost you in big games.

The Miami-Jacksonville game today was a weird one. Miami had a -3 turnover differential and didn't score after halfway through the second quarter but still won thanks to some great defensive play and Jacksonville's sorry passing attack. It never should have been that close, Miami's three turnovers were all in Jacksonville territory (and it might have been worse, they fumbled five times and the Jags only recovered two of them) and they dominated statistically (except for the turnovers of course). Henne played well, completing 17 in a row at one point. 7-3 as a starter now.
My brother and I had a great time at the game, we were seated amongst a bunch of Dolphins fans (who must have been close to half of the 60,000 attending, Jacksonville's most attended game this season) and we enjoyed some mostly good-natured banter with the home fans. One nine-year-old Jags fan seemed to resent our cheering and repeatedly gave us the throat-slash gesture which was hilarious. Turning their "let's go Jaguars" chant into "L.A. Jaguars" after Miami clinched the win seemed to piss a few people off though. Good times.

Sometime around Nov. 6th - Q&A with Bill Sheridan
Q. When people like Justin Tuck and Antonio Pierce say there is a problem with communication, what do they mean?
A. You have to ask them. I don’t know what they are talking about. They haven’t come to me regarding that. I am not trying to shut the question down but particularly I don’t know, you have to ask them. They could explain it to you, what they are referring to.
Q. You sense no problem in communication?
A. No, no. But, if there is, I would love to hear about it.

Instead, it's the Saints and other than Drew Brees & Reggie Bush I doubt 95% of viewers could name a player on the team unless they happen to play fantasy football. well, just got back from Vegas. At least I made some money on the over. No way I was betting on the Giants.
This team is just terrible right now. Bill Sheridan needs to get fired, asap. I realize there have been some injuries but they are getting no pressure on the QB and I don't ever remember watching a team give up A. so many big plays and B. so many first downs on 3rd and long.
I was looking at the points against and the Giants have given up 330, almost 100 more then Dallas, and only fewer then C, St. Louis, Detroit, and Cleveland. Maybe a few others I am forgetting. The defense had way more talent then that, you score 38 points you should win.
The only hope I have is the cowboys have a tough schedule and the Giants have an easy one, but right now it doesn't even matter because they are going no where.

Hell of a game to be at tonight. The crowd was very into it from the very beginning. Just too bad that it wasn't more meaningful. We Niner fans are going to be replaying in our heads that Brett Favre hail mary and the Seahawks multiple phantom penalties if we miss the playoffs by 1 game. We were 5-2 at one point but lost 5 games on the road by 6 points or less. 9-7 is very possible, 8-8 is probably more likely. Either way it's an improvement over last years team, and we have two 1st round picks next year...one of which (CAR) may be a top 7 pick.

I was reading through a Bengals message board on Sunday. Basically I was looking for a Dierdorf quote something to the effect that they are looking like a bunch of rams out there, and not the St Louis Rams because I thought it was funny. Anyway, it seems Bengals fans are so pessimistic and I dont understand why. They have played well this year and many would say they have overachieved. The Bengals have the best seconday in the NFL right now IMO.
I've just never read so much bashing on their own team in one forum especially a playoff team. Is this the nature of Bengals fans?
The Bengals defense kept them in the game for the most part. Take away a couple of turnovers and the game would have been there for the Bengals to take. The Bengals were the toughest defense the Vikings have seen this year.

Just a couple things go the Niners way and they are sitting at 8-5 instead of 6-7. With the development of their young core and projected stability at the OC spot for the first time in 7 years, the Niners have a decent chance to step up next year.

As fans, we expect at any moment someone will get arrested, or hurt, or the team will just go completely in the tank. If you met 10 Bengals fans today, then you have probably also met 9 pessimists. I bet at least 50% of Bengal fans would not be at all surprised for the team to lose their last 3, and the Ravens to win their last 3 to completely knock the Bengals out of the playoffs.
Disappointed, yes. Surprised? No.

Haha.
You have nothing to worry about. They are a good team whether you believe it or not. You beat the Ravens/Steelers twice which is never an easy task.
The only problems I saw were Palmer seems scared at times and your offensive cordinator is an idiot.
