The McCoy injury is huuuuuuge. A senior and all-time leader in wins to a freshman with 26 pass attempts on the season? Huuuuuuge

There ought to be a rule against using Mount Cody in the backfield. I could run behind the hole he makes.

Seeing him go through the hole looking for someone to hit was awesome. Just seemed like Texas said "fuck this".

without McCoy this isn't really a game. it's a "can alabama school the freshman QB" game and it's really not as fun to watch as two close-to-equals.

this game is already over. freshman qb coming in for an injured qb, no way hes any good. hell if Mccoy was injured last week at least the freshman would get a lot of 1st team snaps in practice. right now hes just raw and getting thown to the wolves.

While it isn't the end of the world, if definitely does matter.

Because it happened, I can't see how Texas will move the ball for the rest of this game. They haven't moved the ball at all when Saban doesn't give them field position.

Somewhere, Oklahoma is smiling. Saying that, I would hate to see 'Bama win if McCoy didn't return.

And yet only down 6. If you can't get a nice big lead when it's handed to you, it tends to come back and get you. 'Bama just needs to get past the nerves phase.

Are you seriously trying to question the difference between having a Senior Heisman runner-up and having a freshman who has never started a game? Even for the rest of the Texas team, it has to shake them up pretty good. That's not even counting the boost Alabama's defense and playcallers get from basically knowing what's coming on 1st and 2nd downs.

Doesnt Colt have the most wins out of any QB in NCAA history? You cant honestly believe Colt wouldnt have had an impact on this game can you?

Texas could have been up 14-0 to start the game. Bama would have been in a world of hurt if Colt hadnt went down. Instead they leave 8 points off the board and their offense cant move the ball.

Where am I getting what from?

Colt has the most career wins in NCAA history. Look it up.

Alabama left great field position for Texas two straight possessions to start the game. Colt doesnt guarentee 14 points there but I dont think 10 is reaching.

Colt is also capable of moving an offense and keeping the defense fresh. Have you noticed it seems like Alabama has been on offense most of the game?

Because I think a Heisman contender and leading NCAA career QB in wins is a quality asset on the field does not mean I have to think he is going to be Peyton Manning tonight.

Whats wrong with short passing at a 70 percent clip anyway? Time of possession is a good thing.

There's no debate to have. I made a statement about my expectations for Texas & what Gilbert's production relative to those expectations has been. That's not debatable stuff, those are both facts. My expectations were what they were, Gilbert's production is what it is.

Not for one second have I thought Texas had more than a snowball's chance in hell of beating Alabama, the absence of McCoy doesn't change that one bit.

Can a sprained shoulder get worse? Just doesn't seem like an injury that has the ability to end someone's career or even hurt draft status. I understand knee sprains and such which could cause a person to move awkwardly and cause more damage.

Wouldn't it make sense to let McCoy back in and just take him out when they got up by 30?

Its more than possible your expectations are flawed seeing that a QB that is 7-28 has kept this game within 11 points and a couple of stupid decisions from being closer than that.

McCoy is better at reading a defense. He is normally not trying to force the ball into covered WRs.

Its easy to see Gilbert has a great arm but he has no idea where to throw the ball.

Gilbert can throw a deep ball though which McCoy can't. I'd rather take McCoy in this game but Nebraska already exposed his game and showed how to beat them. Gilbert at least offers something they were not prepared for at all.

Well I think Alabama is the better team that isnt playing their best game tonight. However with the 2 early give aways. I think Alabama is in a battle IF Colt hadnt gotten hurt. Colt may not have the greatest skills but hes not stupid and knows enough to take the points when they are there and to not make a stupid pass at the end of the first half. I don't know that the players have been responsible so much as the coaching staff. Kirby Smart will go from genius to WTF in a hurry in they let this get away and Saban will suddenly look extremely human. No just saying that really it came down to coaching at least once McCoy got hurt. I never thought Mack was a great coach mostly lucky to be a coach at UT where can get the cream of nations crop of HS athletes along with USC AND U of Florida.

Mack does not call the plays on either side of the ball.

coulda, shoulda, woulda.

Butterfly effect, who knows what would have happened.

Yep, unless we get a complete redo from when McCoy got hurt it's all guessing games. 'Bama sure as hell wouldn't have taken the 3rd quarter off like they did if McCoy was in.

Good experience for the freshman QB, even if it was for naught.

Kind of a rhetorical question here, but suppose Texas had a first round quarterback and first round tight end out, and a first round offensive tackle, starting wide receiver and starting running back at 50%, and they lost to Alabama 16-13. What would the response be?

I don't get this huge love affair with RainMaker. Have you guys read FOFC this year? He's been a non-factor against any poster with a pulse.

Brilliant job wade. You'd think people would realize how stupid they sound when all they do is repeat the same bullshit line as support for whatever ridiculous argument they're trying to make.

Probably many of the normal teams. Iowa has a good chance of starting next year in the top 10.

With lots of their top players coming back, the Badgers certainly won't start in the top 10 next year but could definitely finish the top ten.

They were a horrible second half away from beating Iowa this year and getting close to that top ten this year but obviously, almost doesn't count.

Wisconsin handled miami pretty easily in their bowl game, despite what the score was. I'm excited for next season and am somewhat sad the season is over.

My top five to finish the season:

Bama
Boise
Florida
Texas
TCU

It would have been VERY interesting to see what would have happened if TCU or Boise would have faced anybody but each other...they most definitely would have been amped up to play a BCS conference team but...

I'm not really sure what OU has to do with any of this

It was a rhetorical question, loaded with a hypothetical scenario that was substantially worse than the adversity that Texas faced tonight. The rhetorical answer is "Nobody is interested in hearing excuses."

This isn't McCoy or Bradford specific, but I hate it when an excuse is made when a QB gets knocked out of the game. McCoy and Bradford didn't slip on some ice, they got hit and thus knocked out of the game by the opposing team. That is a plus for the defense and they do deserve credit for that. If you don't want your QB getting hurt, don't let him take hits. BYU and Alabama knocked their QBs out of the game and deserve credit for it.

I agree with this. Football isn't played in a vacuum. Injuries suck, but they happen and using them as an excuse just doesn't fly.

Haven't heard anyone making an "excuse".

Senator, I'm not trying to rub it in to you, but go on any Longhorn fan site and the boards are flooded with "the best team lost", "if not for Colt's injury", etc. posts. All I'm saying is that it's kind of ironic from the very same people who were saying "no excuses" to the OU fans after the 16-13 loss without Bradford and Gresham.

Yeah, I guess you can find shit birds without too much effort for any college, these days. That is the flipside of what coolness the internet is.

Understand what you are saying. I don't have much use for them.

Of course the flip side of humor to this is the amount of Sooner fans I've seen saying "no excuses" about McCoy's injury who were saying the same things about Bradford being out earlier.

Fans have never been known for consistency.

Could have been an interesting scenario w/o a "championship" game though, especially say if 'Bama had 1 loss. Some pollsters might opt to vote for Texas in that case.
