View Full Version : Hattrick - MOTS ?
A question to hattrick Gurus. After 3 weeks of PICs, my Team Spirit is now at "paradize on Earth" and Confidence is "Wonderful".
This Saturday, I am playing at the 1st place guy (I project him as going for promotion). I was planning on MOTS, but after a quick thought, is it really useful as I am already on "Paradize on Earth" ? since my Team Spirit will then go down to "Calm" ?

How much better is this guy then you?? if he is alot better dont MOTS. He'll beat ya anyway. But if you to are very close interms of talent i'd consider it.
Also look at what team you playing next weak??? if they suck ass you can PIC and get back some spirit that way.
Its your call.... if you 2 are the best 2 teams in the division and you think it will come down to you two for first place maybe you should give it a try.
We are approx of the same value (in terms of stars per game). He beat me 1-0 on a contested penalty shot last year at his place. The game is again at his place.
Next match is a Cup game where I will play normal (the guy is also on the same range) and next league game is against another top 4 team (from what I forecast). The game after would be another Cup game or (if I lose) another Top 4 league team.
The original question was : As I am already at "Paradize on Earth", will my Team Spirit still increase for the game if I MOTS (something higher than Paradize on Earth).
Right now, I am leaning on playing normal for a few games with such a High Team Spirit.

It won't stay that high if you do normal. It probably won't even stay that high for your next match.
My advice...your TS is very, very high. Normal the league match. If your teams are fairly even, you've (likely) got the edge, thanks to your TS. Your guys will play well.
PIC the Cup match, to keep your TS high.
Normal the next league match, too. Odds are you'll win (or at the very least play very well) both league matches.

Sorry the threadjackbut I have another question about team spirit for you guys. Im almost positive Im going to lose my next cup game. Will there be any difference in my team spirit or confidence if I PIC as opposed to normal?
uhh...WTF is PIC and MOTS??
I'm so embarassed.....i was one of the original Hattie guys and i don't know what this mean...maybe that's why my team licks bottom holes? :)

lol, they are just the settings for team attitude toward a game.
PIC= Play it cool
MOTS= Match of the season

2 cents from someone relatively new to this
I read on one of the conferences that the only way to stay paradise on earth is to pic every game, and that it might not even last until your next game anyway, falling just under by the time the game starts.
I think the best reason not to MOTS this early in the season is that if you MOTS and LOSE, the fall in TS might be even worse than you forcast, and you lose the long term benefits of your way above average team spirit. Like I said though, I've only been involved for a couple months. I wonder what TargetPractice would advise.
I've never played a game without playing MOT...
Thus i suck.

So what happens if you PIC and get your ass kicked? I'm assuming your spirit would still go down?

If you PIC, your TS will *always* go up.
It may go up a little less if you lose, but it will still go up.

Oh, that's very interesting then...leads me to a dilemna on whether or not to PIC my next Cup match...guess I'll decide based on how the team looks this next league Match.

I'm actually MOTSing my upcoming league game. Its an away game I'm hoping to "steal" from one of the two people I see as having a slightly better team than me in the series. My next two league games after it are against teams I should be able to beat somewhat easily at home while PIC so it isn't going to hurt me too much. I'm more worried about the ass-beating I'm going to take in my next cup game. Depending on my team spirit after the MOTS and subsequent PIC'd cup loss I'll probably look at upgrading my coach. I had thought about doing it at the beginning of the season but after checking my season fixture list and deciding which games to most likely PIC, MOTS, and play normal I felt it was better to hold off and use the coaching change's side benefits to my advantage.

I'm interested in the answer to Alf's original question...his team spirit is already at Paradise on Earth, so will MOTs-ing this game actually improve his performance? Or is Paradise on Earth the ceiling, so all MOTS-ing will do is lower his spirit more after the game?
I'm considering MOTS-ing my next cup game...I'm against a guy who's got a better team than me on paper, but given the quality of my team, I think with a few lucky bounces and a MOTS, I can pull off the upset. Here's a comparison:

Area Vandals (Me) Neon Genesis Evangelion (Asymmetric 3-5-2)
Midfield Weak Wretched/Poor
R. Defense Solid Brilliant
C. Defense Excellent Outstanding
L. Defense Inadequate Excellent
R. Attack Solid Solid
C. Attack Inadequate Passable
L. Attack Passable Solid

Think I have a chance?

Vince,
That team is in DK's series. I think with your midfield advantage, you'd have a chance. His defense is strong enough that you might only score with an event goal, though. Get [Head] specialists!
With regards to the first question, here's my theory: PoE is the highest spirit can get. However, like every other stat, there's no way to tell if you have high PoE or low PoE. Since Spirit does tend to drop once it gets that high, if it's still even shown as PoE for your next game, it's probably a low PoE. Thus, MOTS'ing will have an effect, although probably not as noticeable as if you MOTS'ed from calm, or something.

i just wanna know how a guy builds that good of a team all around and doesnt bother getting better Midfielders. What a dumass. I hope you do beat him. It will serve him right :)

I didn't read the whole thread so I don't know if you got an answer or not.
However, I wouldn't play MOTS. My strategy is to PIC my first three games of the season (this season it will be 5), and PIC my cup games after that to maintain the high team spirit. It's much better for your midfield in the long run to have high team spirit than to raise it by one level for a single match. Unless you absolutely MUST wint his game I would advise again it. Also, if you are the away team I would strongly advise against it and MOTS your home game against him if you want.
So anyway, once I'm out of the cup I PIC league matches. When your TS is that high you will get better midfield ratings on PIC than you would on normal at the defualt team spirit. So you could play normal and get MOTS-like effects. Then if you play MOTS, woah baby, it's like double MOTS.

Well, the one thing about that is that it's a cheap way to improve your team. Solid wingers and forwards are a lot cheaper than middies. Not very effective, tho, because of the emphasis on midfield.
But anyways, get this: I've PIC'd my first two matches and my team spirit is only content. That solid coach everyone always gets on me about is controversial. So my solid/sympathetic clown is only good enough to counteract that. All of last season I was "content" but never got higher or lower until I dropped a level one of the last couple of weeks.

Alf, I would wait it's too early in the season to use it and you are away. Save it for later. Just remember you can in essense use 2 MOTS, the one you pick and the last game of the season (as a freebie).
Vince, I personally would not use it in a cup game. The prospects of you surviving another 2 rounds aren't in your favor anyhow(not specifically pointing out your team, just on general principles). I seriously doubt your opponent will use it on you, he may even PIC. I would just go normal. Then again I suck. :)

Well then...sounds like MOTS is not a great idea afterall. And the Cup isn't that important, I guess. Would be nice to advance another round, though :)
Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it.

I MOTSed three games in a row to end season 16... Now that was something. I went from Paradise on Earth! team spirit to Murderous in two weeks...
Update : My TS went down one level before the game, so I decided to MOTS the game. 0-0 at halftime, but I'm having a 66% possession advantage.
That's a Double MOTS if I follow TP6 !!!
My TS will be "calm" after that and I think I'll PIC next Cup game as I play a team that's roughly equivalent to mine and I'll play at home, then I'll play normal my next league game.
dola : I won 2-0 and had 73% possession in the second half. I also had a Passable Midfield rating which is my best (was usually weak...). Team Spirit is now "composed" (I was expecting "calm") and confidence is "wonderful" !
My next league opponent now looks like a whole lot better team than me, so I'll PIC and play my backups to gain some more training.
Thanks anyway for your inputs. Aways welcomed.
