I can see it now, other countries will do the exact same thing without U.N. support and when we call them out for it, they're going to go to same card everytime - "Well, you did it!"

If the other countries of the world use this against us, the world is in deep kaka.

Well...no one ever got UN support before, so I don't think that's really an issue.

But it does give those who want to be aggressors another card to play IMO.

only by point of view. For instance, much of the Arab world and Andy think the US is the bad guy.

Hmm ... I'd say that India had been "mulling" a pre-emptive strike against Pakistan for a lot longer than just the past few weeks.

Using it as a feeble example. Unless Pakistan is under a direct mandate to disarm over the past 12 years, and didn't, as a result of invading a neighboring country and being forced out by the UN.

I thought we invaded to liberate the Iraqi people...err..because the regime has ties to terrorism...err...nevermind, I never can keep up with the reason from day to day.

I guess it depends on what day of the week India were to invade Pakistan if they were doing it for similar reasons. ;)



Seriously, to me that's the cause for concern. Our administration kept changing the justification for this to garner public support and now it's made it much more difficult to dismiss similar claims from countries like India. I also think it will be very difficult politically to sell internationally the ONLY justification for pre-emptive strikes is the EXACT situation we were in with Iraq.
