Daytona Beach, FL - After a three year hiatus, fourty drivers have made their way to Daytona International Speedway for the 17th running of the FOFC Daytona 500. Many familiar faces have returned for the 17th season. Past champions and rivals Chris Snow and Nick Phillips both are running again in their familiar #4 and #51 cars. The always tough Sterling Silvers makes his return to the circuit. Former race winners Mustafa Henderson, Travis Elkin, Alejandro Murrieta, Kyle Kappe, Rob Nielsen, Daniel Schoonover, and C.R. Anderson also are returning for another season. Absent though are former stars Jeeber D Mack, Telle Snow, It's Craptacular and Billy Bushinhimer. Though Phillips Racing would love to put Billy back in a car for this season they cannot get around the FOFC officials and their two cars per team policy.

Never before has the FOFC had this many rookies. Anyone of them may come up and challenge with the big names on the circuit this season. It's hard to predict just who that may be though.

Phillips Racing is excited for the new season. The legend Nick Phillips looks for yet another title and to defend his season 16 Championship. Nick Phillips Jr. is not racing this season as he has been enjoying his time racing in various series. Phillips racing had a tough time deciding on who would be the wheel man for the second car, but it decided on the always reliable Mustafa Henderson.

Looking forward to the season. Lets hope Nick Phillips still has what it takes.

The Bud Shootout is for all current FOFC Sprint Cup Series drivers who have either won a race or a pole in the previous 17 seasons. 13 drivers qualified for this year's event.

The Bud Shootout is always an exciting start to the new racing season. Lead changes were aplenty in this event, 15 of them in only 20 laps. At the end it was Sterling Silvers who held off a late charge from Kyle Kappe to take the victory. The entire 20 laps were raced extremely clean, no cautions. But not even 50 yards past the start/finish line and almost all of the field starting wrecking. Add 27 more drivers into tomorrow's Daytona 500 and we could have some very exciting racing.

Foley Racing is excited to start their first season a full-fledged team. Andrew Foley is coming off an impressive rookie campaign in season 16 (winning Rookie of the Year honors) but he re-tooled his team entirely and will be looking for more than just a couple of high finishes (and a pole) on his resume. Rookie Elliott Foley, Andrew's younger brother, is excited to start his first professional race at Daytona, and hopes to emerge from the shadow of his brother sooner rather than later.

Oh yeah! A Duke on the pole! The Duke boys will go fast on raceday.

1st and 5th mark a successful debut for Dixieland Racing. We are confident going into raceday.

That means the 88-GoDaddy card rides on the Pole and the General Lee heads up row 3 just behind.

Daytona 500 Results

Yet again Daytona provided us with a thrilling finish. Coming from 6th place with only 2 laps remaining Alejandro Murietta drafted and pushed Robbie DeWeerd to the lead only to pass him coming down the
backstretch and held off DeWeerd's final late charge to take the victory in the 17th running of the FOFC Daytona 500. But the story of the race was more about who didn't win. Throughout the first half
of the race it was clear that Elvis Boris and his #60 Viagra Ford was the strongest car out there. He led 68 of the first 100 laps and barely anyone could even get to his bumper. But Elvis was
unable to avoid a crash with around 90 laps remaining. The crash dropped his overall speed about 2 miles an hour and he was unable to stay with the pack. Nick Phillips, who along with Andrew Foley were
the only drivers who could come close to challenging Elvis Boris early on was also involved in the crash. His car was never the same afterwards. After that wreck Andrew Foley kept his car out front for
the majority of the time but got hung up on the outside line heading into the final laps and fell to 7th.

A terrific day for Bulletproof Racing as both Vests finished in the top 14, with Cash finishing at the same spot as his car number, five. Just remember, when you see the Bulletproof team approaching in your rearview (sponsored by Huggies and Captain Morgan), you're going to need a change of underwear and a drink.

Excellent write-up and tremendous pictures.

The Viagra Ford was upstanding all day until wilting after getting caught in that crash. We'll just have to rise to the occasion again next week.

Phillips Racing is glad to get out of the 500 with both cars still running. This race is always about who can stay out of trouble and we will take a top ten and 11th place.

Excellent! I missed that this had started.

Looks like a really mixed bag for Sterling. One of the slowest test sessions and practice speeds but then a cool win at the Bud Shootout. Then a really nice #7 qualifying spot but finishing #29. Need to shake some rust off, I guess. From the looks of those pictures, he was running well until the Flamebeard crash so maybe that's what knocked us back.

I love the pictures.

Pleased with the way Foley Racing practiced, but we couldn't seem to carry that over into qualifying and just seemed like some rotten luck in the race. Andrew had a great car all day and Elliott did not. Still some work to do, but great to have a top ten at least for Andrew.

An excellent (and a little unexpected) start for Double Tap Racing, with 4th and 12th place finishes. Off to a good start on the season, no doubt.

Solid run at Daytona for Snow Motorsports. The KodaK Chevy wasn't built for drafting, she was built for handling. We should see a much better showing on the intermediate tracks.

Samsung Mobile 500 Results

Today's race was all about survival. If you were able to miss the wrecks, you probably finished in the top ten. If you found yourself in one of the wrecks, but were able to drive away and finish the
race with your damaged race car, you found yourself in the top twenty. Only seventeen cars survived the day. Only 7 remained on the lead lap at the end. Early on in the day Robbie DeWeerd and his
#6 Gatorade car looked strong but he found himself getting caught up in a wreck on lap 112. As the race wound down a four car breakaway with Nick Phillips, Jace Hunter, Elvis Boris, and Erik Flamebeard
battled it out for the victory. Phillips and his #51 Chevy held off the challengers to pick up his 17th career FOFC Sprint Cup Series victory.

Pontiac Excitement 400 - Richmond International Raceway
Race #3 of 20

Richmond, VA - For about the first 140 laps in the Pontiac Excitement 400 the race was run very clean. No cautions or accidents occurred until 137 laps into the race. Dean Houston, Jr. found himself way out in front of the field and well on his way to victory before a caution flag flew while he was making his green flag pitstop. A few cars had stayed out and Houston was caught a lap down. He would recover and gain that lap back, and almost found himself back up front before an accident ended his day. Houston, Jr. led 151 laps on the day.

After that first caution on lap 137, the caution flag found itself being flown often. Fifteen times in all. One of the most crash-filled races the FOFC has seen. That makes two weeks in a row where less than 20 drivers finished the race.

William Paige was the driver who took the lead following final pit stops with 48 laps to go and never looked back. He built up a 4 second advantage over Chad Errington, Kyle Kappe and Travis Elkin and cruised to victory.

I missed this starting. Excellent race there by Errington, wish he could have pulled it out at the end there. McWerter seems to be fairly middle of the pack consistent.

Could you please put my guys down as racing for Russell Racing, Inc.? Thanks!

Another top ten for Andrew, but a second DNF in 3 races for Elliott. Eventually I will get some consistency going...

Hrmm, back and forth for GWN Racing, be nice to see both drivers put together a good race at the same time. Here's hoping the next race is a little cleaner for all the drivers. That seems like a crazy amount of DNFs two races in a row.

I was thinking that too - on the year, only 5 drivers don't have a DNF.

Have to give props to Dean Houston Jr. He was on fire today, but alas bad luck cost him the race. Oh well, there is still a lot of racing left this season, so hopefully we can make up some of those points we are down.

Yeah it has been. The main cause has been damaged cars on restarts causing more wrecks. I would think the rest of the races will be much cleaner.

Long season ahead let's hope that these rookie drivers can figure out what they are doing so we can have some more guys stay in the race.

I just want to point out that the #25 car looks in great shape here and that I could be doing quite well if I didn't have the Pizza Hut car coming at my side, that yellow car spinning out behind me, and, oh yeah, the friggin General Lee about to land on me. Seriously, are you guys trying to kill me?

PilotMan
03-03-2010, 08:28 AM
Yeah, the General Lee is looking rough so far. We seem to be in the middle of a lot of these wrecks. Luke Duke seems to be doing better that Bo at this point, as he finally got a top 10 finish.

Let's see the General Lee caught in the middle running 3 wide at lap 41, both Duke boys running right behind that damnable CW when he wrecked, Steve Bollela spins our right in front of the General Lee, both Duke boys involved with the wreck at lap 79, with the Lee looking like he heads to the wall, just before he goes airborne. Then in the video its Foley that ends up getting Tboned by the General Lee.

Dixieland racing has been both lucky and unlucky here, but we always seem to be right in the mix of the things that are going on.

Man looking over those old stats makes me wish I were 20 years younger and still driving for such a solid operation =) These old bones just don't have what they used to have and Snow Motorsports isn't the world dominating corporation that it used to be.

Gonna be a long season...

Early on at Charlotte, Chris Snow looked like he was the Chris Snow of old. Moving up quickly from his 21st starting spot Snow took the lead and began to dominate the field. He led for 228 laps and held a 20 second lead on 2nd place. He was well on his way to lapping the entire field when he went for an unscheduled pit stop. No explanation as to why the pit stop was made but Snow fell back a lap and never recovered, finishing 24th.

After Snow lost the lead numerous different drivers swapped the lead. Jack Meehoff led for 36, Stroker Ace 33, Robbie DeWeerd 22, Nick Phillips 21, and Steve Bollea for 17 among others.

With just over 50 laps left Nick Phillips took lead and looked to be on his way to his 2nd win off the year and 18th of his career when rookie Stroker Ace made a strong run and passed the Sprint Cup veteran. Stroker never looked back and won the race by 1.46 seconds. Phillips was 2nd followed by Daniel Schoonover, William Paige and Boris Elvis.

Just not good racing unfortunately for Sterling Silvers. I think it's a great car as he keep getting good qualifying times and speeds but when he hits the course with other drivers, he just doesn't have it.

Richmond made 2 weeks in a row where he couldn't avoid the crashes. Then the Coca Cola race, Sterling takes the pole, falls out of the lead after 4 laps, and just settles into 25th place. Ugh.

Good job with the pictures and videos. They really add to the dynasty :)

I've never seen so many even cars until this season. Everyone seems to have a chance week in and week out. In most seasons a few cars stood out as standouts and no one else had a chance. This season that is not the case. Back in 30th in points sits Chris Snow, and he dominated most of the last race until problems hit. Dean Houston, Jr. sits in 32nd and he almost lapped an entire field earlier in the season. Ron Towers sits last but has been running up with the leaders numerous times. It's definitely going to be an interesting season. Anyone can win it.

Dean Houston, Jr. just may be the king of short tracks here on the FOFC Sprint Cup Series. After dominating Richmond before a crash took him out, Houston, Jr. came to Bristol on a mission. He qualified 2nd, ran near the front all day, and then led almost all of the final 150 laps en route to the victory.

Chris Snow may have salvaged a season that was slowly slipping away from him with a 2nd place finish today. His car has been very strong in the last two races now. Sterling Silvers used his second straight pole position to help him with his 3rd place finish. 4th was William Paige and 5th Jack Meehoff.

Also find it funny that we have managed to bookend the points standing.

C Vest with the move from 36-7, pretty nice. Of course B Vest goes from 5-22. At least we both finished though, we'll take it.

Luke picks up 6th and Bo 18th, much better than we started the race. That moves both of them up a little. It's good to see the cars finishing the races. Dixieland is now 12th and 35th overall, the General Lee needs to get going.

Finally, some good results to go with what is looking like one of the strongest cars in the field. Good car, mediocre driver is what looks like the case for Sterling Silvers.

A nice top-10 finish for Dat King, that should help to stop the rookie's slide in the points. 12th place for Max Tolliver isn't bad, but he's starting to think maybe he should stick to road racing. :p

Nick Phillips has looked strong besides the Bristol race where he did not finish. If he can stay near the top and have some more top 5's and top 10's he should be in a good place to claim another title.

Mustafa Henderson has had a dissapointing season so far. The good qualifying runs have not translated into good races, hopefully he can turn it around.

Even starting dead last can't stop Chris Snow these days. The 4 time champ started last and after 100 laps found himself leading. He would only lose the lead during green flag pitstops after that.
Nick Phillips started to gain on Snow in the last twenty laps but could never get less than 2 seconds back. Snow picked up his 2nd straight win. Nick Phillips continued his strong season with a 2nd place
finish. He was followed by Ron Towers who seems to have turned things around. C.R. Anderson finished 4th and has been very strong since missing the Richmond race after failing to qualify. Robbie DeWeerd
rounded out the top 5. Points leader Stroker Ace kept his lead with a 10th place finish.

I disagree it looks to me like Dat King drove right through Jack, trying to save the car Jack had no where to go and the ensuing crash happened.

Nick Phillips is still in great position for the title run. We need some more top 10's to keep the hopes alive.Note to Snow: I wouldn't get too excited with a win here and there its all about consistancy and I don't know if the acient Chris Snow still has what it takes for a complete season.

My 25 car was the one he cut across and he gets bumped on it but that cut across was brutal. THEN, the jerk comes back and catches our 5 car as well. Sheesh.

Despite having the best car and dominating most of the race, Robbie DeWeerd didn't have the fastest car when it mattered most. After a caution with 5 laps left, the race was restarted with only one lap remaining. DeWeerd jumped out to a big start before Mustafa Henderson roared past him on the backstretch and took the victory from DeWeerd. Henderson had only led one other lap all race. The win gives Henderson 14 for his career, good for third on the all-time list behind Chris Snow and Nick Phillips.

Phillips had a horrible day, finishing a lap down in 35th. Points leader Stroker Ace didn't fare so well either, finishing in 22nd. Chris Snow gained some on those two but not quite as much as he would have hoped for. Snow led 28 laps on the day and looked he could be heading for a 3rd straight win before his car faded and he finished 12th.

Turd Ferguson has been pretty consistent for me so far this season, and continues to climb in the points. If he can keep running well, I think he has a good shot at a championship.

Dean Houston Jr. just continues to struggle on the bigger tracks though. Short track racing is his specialty though, so I guess its to be expected

At Daytona Elvis Boris proved to have the most dominant car before a crash knocked him out. Today at Talledega he proved to have the most dominant superspeedway car on the circuit. At the line with two laps to go Boris found himself in 12th place, stuck on the outside line in a 14 car group. Somehow Boris worked his way to the bottom line and began picking off car after car. At the white flag had moved up to 4th. Coming down the backstretch and into turn 3 on the final lap Boris went underneath J.P. Provo to take the lead and held off the rest of the cars for the win.

1st and 2nd in points Stroker Ace and Chris Snow had tough days finishing 25th and 22nd. 3rd place Robbie DeWeerd finished 39th while 4th place Nick Phillips gained quite a bit on those three with a 6th place finish. 5th place William Paige had a good points day by finishing 8th.

Must have had some sort of issues to finish 12 laps back on the most recent race.

That said, to claw back into the top 10 after the start of the season, I'm pretty happy with the results for Sterling Silvers.

Well this season has certainly gone to hell in a handbasket for Double Tap Racing. Let's hope that the debut of the new team logo will help to spark King and Tolliver to a strong second-half:

Nice finish for Dean Houston Jr. Even though he considers the super speedway to be his worst type of event, he really came through. Ferguson has slipped a bit, but I expect both drivers to have a strong finish at Dover.

Very disappointing season so far with a combined 6 DNF's between my two drivers.

The Brickyard turned into a wreckfest today as onl half of the field was left at the end of the day. Many different drivers led throughout including points leader Nick Phillips who led the most with 37.
But for the final 19 laps it was Ken Schoonover, who came into Indy dead last in points, who led the race and took the win. Duke McWerter came in 2nd followed by Turd Ferguson, Ron Towers, and Nick Phillips.

Phillips had another great points day as fellow title contenders DeWeerd, Ace, Snow, and Paige all finished 17th or worse.

After a great start to his first season Rookie Robbie DeWeerd along with friend and team mate Jack meehoff have been picked up by P.U.R.E Motorsports. Lets see if Robbie can have a few less DNF's then maybe he will start his career off with a championship.

Phillips Racing has been running smooth as of late. Nick Phillips has been consistantly been in the top ten with 8 out of the 12 races so far. Leading the points as of now and gaining on second. Mustafa Henderson has been unable to finish enough races with 5 dnf's out of 12 races and still finds himself in the top 12.

Looks like Phillips is on his way to another title.

Martinsville Results

For the majority of the last half of the race Brad Vest completely dominated the field. But as the laps wound down he had a tough challenge from Daniel Schoonover. Vest and Schoonover waged a terrific
battle over the races final fifteen laps. Racing side by side lap after lap before finally Vest was able to hold off Schoonover to take the win. Chris Snow almost came through and snuck away with the win
while the top two were battling. He was able to get to their bumpers but was unable to make the pass. It was a great points day for Snow however as Nick Phillips struggled and came home in 25th. 2nd place
in points Robbie DeWeerd finished 39th, 3rd place Stroker Ace finished 38th.

Solecismic Software 500 at BOSTON INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

This was one of the more interesting races of the year. Normally there are only one, two, or possibly three drivers that dominate throughout the day. Today however, 7 drivers led 29 laps or more and 9
in total led more than 10. Early on Stroker Ace, Daniel Schoonover, and Ron Towers were the dominant drivers. All three of them encountered problems and towards the end of the Jack Meehoff, J.P. Provo,
Mustafa Henderson and Turd Ferguson took over. With 51 laps to go Jack Meehoff took his first lead of the day and was able to maintain that lead through the many cautions that littered the final 50 laps
and came home with the win.

Onto the championship picture. It was the second week in a row where Nick Phillips had problems. Today his day was ended in a wreck on lap 176. Chris Snow took advantage, finishing 6th and greatly
reducing his deficit. Two races ago it looked like Phillips would roll to a title, now things are interesting.

Only two races ago it looked like Nick Phillips would pick up title #5 no problem. But after two bad races in a row Nick Phillips finds himself only 12 points ahead of Chris Snow, who also is looking for
title #5. Robbie DeWeerd sits in 3rd, 118 back. Turd Ferguson is in 4th 124 back and Duke McWerter sits in 5th, 197 back.

Race #15

It was a crazy day at the FOFC's fastest track. 30 different drivers swapped the lead 141 times over 196 laps. Silas Ryle led the most with 31 before finishing 11th. It was more about being in the
right place at the right time rather than having the best car. Near the end it was Erik Flamebeard who held off Ken Schoonover, Maxwell Tolliver, Mustafa Henderson and Sterling Silvers for the win.

It was a bad day for title contenders. After gaining a large amount of points in a couple races Chris Snow was involved in a wreck and finished dead last. Also though in the same wreck as points
leader Nick Phillips. He was able to continue but his car was nowhere near competitive as he fell 7 laps down and finished 29th, still though he was able to stretch his points lead. 3rd place in points
Robbie DeWeerd finished 18th, 4th place Turd Ferguson finished 27th and 5th place Duke McWerter finished 8th.

Dixieland has some reliability issues. I don't know why the General Lee has 7 DNF's while our 88 car has 2. That's what you get when you run at the back of the pack all day long. We are still bringing up the rear.

Nice. Max Tolliver with his first career top-5 finish. No way he's contending this year, but hopefully this'll give him some momentum for a strong finish.

Hell must be freezing over, Ken Schoonover is a top 5 again.

6 and 4 DNF's respectively. I'm doing something wrong with the car setup.

For some reason Bo always seems to find a wreck. The 01 has ran well a lot of times but seems to find his way into others wrecks.

Not bad. I think this is the first time all year I've placed better than my starting position.

Toyota/Save Mart 350 at INFINEON RACEWAY

It was a huge day for Robbie DeWeerd. Coming into the race 80 points back of the points lead DeWeerd led the race's final 18 laps and won the race, gaining a substantial amount of points on points leader Nick Phillips who finished 17th. 2nd place Chris Snow finished 5th. The points standings have definitely been shaken up.
