My best friend retires from the Navy tommorow (congrats Chief!). It did not dawn on me right now that I should have a gift for him tommorow night. Duh! Give me a good cheap idea for a gift. Something special but won't break the bank. He's a computer guru, but I want something more lasting than like a game. He drinks Sam Adams, but a case of beer again doesn't last. What, What, What.

What is cheap?
Contact your congressman to request a flag that was flown over the capitol (usually around $25) and then buy a flag case for it.
Granted, you won't have it in time for tomorrow.

That's a good thought. Too late for tommorow, like you said. I wish I had thought of that.

Sing that Village People song to him. Cost is free, but you may taint your friendship.

Tickle him until he can't breathe then have a bunch of guys jump on him?
:)
I probably would go for a bottle of Dom, but that isn't exactly cheap.

Tickle pile! Ummmm....maybe not. I do wish he drank a liquor. Better than buying beer.

Wife came up with a genius plan. I'm gonna get a model ship. Sort of symbolic of his Navy career, and his retirement (having time to make models). Sadly, he did serve on a ship that would likely find a model of, (he was on the Mnt. Whitney, a radio/command ship. That was only ship duty in 23 years) but still a good idea. I ship in a bottle may be even better.

Just to make you sick I guess, here's the Mount Whitney LCC-20.

I'm thinking the $379.99 price tag (fully assembled & mounted) was over what you were looking for though. (also on eBay for $228). Haven't found a kit version yet.

I have, and for only $23. But I wouldn't have it before tommorow. I think I'll just go with whatever I can find at the hobby shop.
