View Full Version : All-League at Different Positions?

Has anyone ever had a player named to the all-league team at two (or more) positions?

I have kind of had this as a mini-goal in my current career (that has spanned over 50-seasons now). I thought I had a good shot with a former award winning OLB that moved inside as he got older, but he never made it. I recently moved a former all-league guard to center, with his ratings holding pretty strong, so I am hoping he can pull it off in the next couple of seasons, before his ratings drop.

I'm guessing the center/guard and ILB/OLB combo is the most likely option here, although I guess a veteran DB could make the move between CB and S, as well.

Just curious if anyone has any good stories (or if it has happened)?

In the GMFL I have a LB Patrick Willis who in his 3rd season was 1st team ILB, next season I moved to SLB and 3 seasons later won 2nd team OLB followed by 1st team OLB. I then moved him to WLB and in his second year there he won 2nd team OLB honors. He is now in his 11th season and holding at 70/70.

LOL, yeah.... the story that never happened.

My uber QB in the FFL Joel Tapscott could be position switched to RB and yes he would have held his ratings. He would have been the highest rated RB in the league, iirc.

But, I never made the switch.... interesting to think about though....

What exactly do you mean by this? After having one guy post a bit of success after a QB-to-RB position switch in a MP league, I looked into it a bit, and I don't recall ever finding a guy who would switch at anything even into the 80%+ range (including a super-stud QB who was regularly on the league's fastest men list).

Are you saying that in a test switch your guy looked like a stud, *and* that you scout said he wouldn't lose anything in the switch? Or just the former?

Just curious...I am always intrigued by this sort of thing. Wondering if there's any trait of a QB ready to switch, other than a great dash at the combine and a great scrambling bar.

At the time Tapscott was an 83/83 (I want to say he ended up 90+, but he retired a while ago).

When moved to RB, his rating was a 42/60.

I know in the AUFL (not sure you are wanting information from Historical Leagues) John Elway could be moved to RB and his rating would be 80+ (I asked the commish about it during a draft and he tested it to see).

Elway as a QB is tough to stop on running plays and i can attest to Elway keeping high ratings in AUFL according to commish.

Elway was the 3rd fastest person in the draft if I remember correctly with a 4.34 or something. I could see a S to CB move working or O-line D-line switch as well. I have a hard time believing that Willis is the only player in FOF to win an award at multiple positions.

ILB to OLB is a minor switch in FOF for most players. More impressive would be a DE switching to linebacker, or a safety switching to corner....something like that.

For those kinds of switches to work, they have to be made early in a players career. As a rookie, I'd guess. I doubt there are (m)any juicy stories of all-pros making a major switch.
