Hinted to my wife that I wanted to get the Xbox Slim for Black Friday 2010 (she didn't say no). We have a Wii but really want to play UFC and the Madden games.

Does anyone have the Slim version and your thoughts on it?

I like it. Definitely much quieter than my Elite, and smaller. More USB ports which is nice. Supposedly "Kinetic ready", whatever that means (not sure what there is about the new slim unit that makes it more "ready" than the older ones). The wireless works great. Quite happy with it so far.

I too am interested since my non-slim died a couple weeks ago, I'm fairly positive I'll be buying the "slim" version when I get back from my vacation.

All of this and especially the quieter part. My old rig drove me nuts how loud it was.

I have an old one but I'm interested as well. Would it be hard to transfer saved games from one to the other?

The thing about the slim being 'Kinect' ready means that the Kinect will just take a single connection to the back to get up and running. For non-slim 360s, you'll have to plug in a separate power supply for the Kinect.

That sounds like a Liz Lemon Deal Breaker.

It was really easy with the data transfer kit that MS sells. However, if you don't want to pay the $18-20 for it - and I wouldn't blame you (I was able to get it for $10 from the MS store since I'm alumni) - I'm pretty sure you could transfer stuff via USB flash drives, though that would likely be more time-consuming.

Note that when you do your transfer, you may have to log on to xbox.com to transfer DRM licenses if you have downloaded Rock Band and/or Guitar Hero songs.
