I figure if I don't post this, someone else will, so it might as well be me.
Ex-Falcon charged with drug possession *| ajc.com (http://www.ajc.com/news/gwinnett/ex-falcon-charged-with-585614.html)
Former Falcons cornerback Glenn Sharpe was arrested and charged with drug possession Wednesday during a traffic stop, Gwinnett police said.
Officers stopped Sharpe around 11 p.m. along Interstate 85 near Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road for speeding, said Cpl. Edwin Ritter, Gwinnett police spokesman.
Police discovered Metronidazole, antibiotic, inside a prescription bottle and several Valium pills, Ritter said. A .9mm pistol was located near the pill bottle, he said.
Sharpe is charged with illegal possession of a narcotic and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.
Sharpe, 27, who played in college at Miami, was with the Falcons during the 2008-2009 season. He was on the practice squad of the New Orleans Saints last year. Sharpe is currently a free agent.
He is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail on an $11,400 bond.

Police say former Atlanta Falcon Glenn Sharpe was stopped late Wednesday night for a speeding violation. Sharp's Mercury Marauder was stopped on Interstate 85 south of the Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road.
Police say Sharpe gave the officer permission to search his car. While conducting the search the officer found a prescription bottle of Metronidazole. Inside the container were 3.5 pills of Diazepam. The officer also found a loaded 9mm pistol near the bottle.
Sharpe was charged with VGSCA-Possession of a Schedule III narcotic (felony) and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Felony, police say.
Sharpe was also issued a speeding ticket.

He's an ex-FOFC'er??

It's the second version of the story that makes me wonder (after the poorly phrased AJC version) whether this is one of those deals where you get charged because you've got Drug A in the bottle meant for Drug B.
IIRC, that can get you locked up, although Lord knows plenty of people do that just for convenience.

I'm sure if he has a scrip for Diazepam that all the charges will be dropped.

As I understand it. After some searching here, I believe he was known as "Huve" during his time here. But maybe I'm either confused, mistaken, or the victim of a hoax (or some combination of the three).

Aaaaah.
Must have been before my time (yes, such a time existed).
Bummer Noop :(

He was around long before the BS pass interference call against him in the OSU title game (if you find that thread, you'll see a bunch of us discussing not only the play but who he is on the board), but I don't think he ever came back after that.
I hope he's able to straighten out his life.

At least it seems like everything was above board with the gun.
Think we talked about it awhile back, but wonder if he's still carrying that BS call on his conscience.

If he goes to jail for 3.5 valium pills, that's a travesty.

I posted the linkage here, so I'm going to post this personally to you the same way.
God as my witness, it never crossed my mind for even a second that you wouldn't have known about this already.
It's the latest headline story at AJC.com, it aired on at least the #2 TV news in Atlanta and is currently the lead story on the sports section of their website, it's the lead NFL story on Rotoworld.com at the moment and has started hitting various NFL related websites & blogs in the past hour. With that in mind, hopefully you can understand why I just took it for granted that you would have known.
That said, for all of my anti-drug sentiments, for all of my hard line stances on drug-related crimes, for all of the differences you & I may have on 90% of topics that come up around here ... you shouldn't have read it here first.
I feel like I fucked up and I owe you an apology for that just as publicly as I posted the info in the first place. If I had imagined for even a single second that you didn't know I wouldn't have posted it here, and I'm sorry.

Yeah, I remember huve. I always thought it was cool and terrible at the same time that I was watching an FOFC'er get royally screwed by the officials in a National Championship game.
Sounds like he's getting a raw deal on this one. Assuming that's the case, my best goes out to your bro noop.

good luck noop. I hope he makes it out of this ok.
The call was correct, I'll never understand the people who say it wasn't. But I cheered for him and I wish he'd have made it bigger in the NFL. Good luck huve.
Good luck to your brother Noop. You the older or younger?
Younger.
The call was inconsistent but that debate is not for today.

Go take care of things for your little brother.
I agree that the call was iffy, but then I was sort of rooting for The U in that game.
Hopefully he gets his thing together & has a better championship moment in the future.

The felony is that he's carrying 3 valium pills? Really?+1 - you'd think commissioning a felony would require being under the influence or intent to distribute rather than mere possession of such a small amount of prescription pills. I hope it's just a case where he has them combined in one bottle and will be cleared up.
+2 on all the posts to Noop.

The felony is drug possesion with gun, which has a manditory sentence. I'm with other thinking this will get dropped. It was three pills he most likely has a script for in the wrong bottle. Technically illegal, but probably will end up being reduced. He wasn't selling, or using his gun in a drug operation, which was the purpose of the law.

3.5 valium, damn that is BULLSHIT and as long as the gun is legal it should be dropped.
