Howdy all,
It is that time of year again! Just a little less than a week until the 2010 College Football season kicks off. Welcome to the 8th season of the poll.
Ground Rules:
The poll is open to all forum members. All I ask is that if you decide to participate, you send in a poll each week during the season. It helps to keep the continuity of the poll going by having a stable set of voters.
Also, I realize that some folks do not want to start voting until after the season has started. That is fine. Voting will be closed to new submitters after the voting for the week of Oct. 9th
The voting will open up the day after the last game of each week is played, and voting will close by kickoff of the first game of the following week. 24 hours prior to the poll closing, I will PM voters that haven't sent anything in a reminder.
Please use the following format when making your submission (it helps cut down greatly on processing time).
1. State University
2. Your State
3. State Tech
Basically, just make sure each of your votes starts with 1 to 25, and is marked with a period after the number then a space before the team name. Any other character (or none at all) confuses the parser.
Please keep the thread with voting submissions free of any comments about someone's vote. If there is an obvious mistake or omission, that is ok, but running commentary muddies up the thread. Comments should go into the weekly college football thread.
Solecismic's Football Frontier College Rankings will be one of the voters.
cartman reserves the right to reject submissions.
USC is eligible to receive votes
So without any further ado, let the voting begin! Voting closes at 6:00pm Central, Thursday Sept. 2nd.

I'm not a fan of preseason polls in general, but I'll put one out for continuity's sake. I dropped UNC off due to the rumored suspensions. PS cartman - I read your initial post, but are there exceptions in regards to preferred nomenclature for UNC/LSU/USC/TCU/A&M ? Or should I/we spell out Louisiana State each week?

I'm interesting in the answer to this too. In the past, it seemed that the most standard abbreviations & acronyms were fine (LSU, USC, TCU, BYU) and I've generally used those as well, based in part on the fact that cartman copies those over when he posts Solecismic rankings.

Abbreviations are fine. Most of them are clear, with the exceptions of UT (please specify Tenn. or Tex.) and rarely USC (most people never refer to South Carolina with this, but it did happen once) or FSU (had someone a few years back use this for Fresno State).

Abbreviations are fine. Most of them are clear, with the exceptions of UT (please specify Tenn. or Tex.)I don't think that'll be a problem in the near future :D (sorry Jon)
