Is there any performance penalty for playing players out of position?

I noticed in my latest solo game that for some reason when I clicked the recommend button for the depth charts that it always put my starting LCB in at RCB and I've been looking around a few online leagues and noticed rosters that might have fir instance 4 LT and no RT.

Now in order for these players to switch positions they might have to gain or lose weight and maybe lose a few points experience but does just playing them there out of position incur a similar penalty when simming?

As far as I know there's an unknown penalty for playing a player out of position, but it is often worth it, as the penalties for actually switching position can be heavy.

Also, the player will use the experience he has at whatever position he plays, not the position he holds in title.

from what ive read playing them out of position is the same as switching them you just dont "see" the drop in skills but they play to the lowered level until their experience catches up i.e. a LG playing RG DE playing DT

ill try and find the post might have been in the Vnfl

Right, but in that case, why switch? If you play out of position, you can always switch back and keep the high ratings, or they look better for trade.

IMO you'd only switch when there would be a ratings bump, or when you really want to switch the guy to a position where he would accrue experience. Otherwise he would still gain experience as if he were at his old position.

Usually you don't take that hit. But if everything is the same, you might.
