Interesting. I had yet to purchase anything from them, but I had seriously considered in the past. For those who had purchased anything from them, it appears they are still going to let you download all the games you purchased this Thursday if you haven't already done so.
Did any of you, who had purchased software from them, get any emails that possibly hinted they were in trouble? Gotta admit that I am a bit bummed about this.

And here's a link to what a portion of the site looked like:

Interesting. I never bought anything from them, but I did check their site from time to time.

Looks like they're not actually gone for good though - seems like there's more to the story, per that link of yours Ant. Whether it's relaunching with DRM, or going out of beta.
However, despite the abruptness of the shut down, all hope is not lost. Tom Ohle, from Evolve PR, stated in his twitter account (http://twitter.com/EvolveTom/status/24956916744) that “Doesnt mean GOG is gone! We’ll have some more info soon”. So something is changing somewhere.

Seems pretty strange to me. Can't imagine their business model having much overhead at all, but maybe they were paying these software houses a fixed rate for each title they offered and then just weren't selling enough units per title to make a profit?
I'm on their subscription list and this is the first I'm hearing about it

That link within the twitter update gives a 404 error.

Ah yes...basically they're leaving beta-stage.
That was pretty lame. I'm sure there will be some lingering irritation towards them, but bottom line i don't think it will necessarily hurt them that much.

If they bring back the Baldur's Gate games for relatively cheap & easy to download, all will be forgiven. Pretty excited about that tidbit.

I've never heard of them before this, so in terms of raising awareness, it worked from my standpoint.

Same here. Although, when I went to their site this morning, it was down, and when I went just now, there's a countdown for when the site will be open, in 19 hours. I'll have forgotten about the site by then, unless this thread is still getting bumped.

Oh...so I assume they didn't have the YouTube videos posted. They're just.....odd.

Doh! They might have -- I was looking at the site from my work, and if it's anything like this site, YouTube videos just don't show up -- probably because I don't have Flash.

This is no shit, my oldest son has been playing the Baulders Gate series since I showed it to him. I think he is going on 3 years straight without really playing anything else. Tell me, is this an addiction?

So this was the equivalent of the never-ending "Going Out of Business!!!" sale.
Ah, well. I'll forgive them as long as they relaunch.

I'm still waiting for Sid Meier's Civil War games.
