rollback

So, I got a new computer a while ago. It's got Windows 7. I hooked my cell phone up to it, to copy some pictures from the phone to the computer, and now all the contacts and tasks from my phone are gone! I called up T-Mobile to see if they could help me out, and they said that the phone synced with the computer, and since there was no tasks or contacts on the computer, the sync process made the phone that way also (genius). They said that I need to call Microsoft and ask them if they can do a rollback. I've heard of a rollback for drivers, but never a rollback for data -- is this something that's actually going to be possible to do, and do I really just call Microsoft and ask them to do it?
