DC, you have Alabama 8 spots above a team with one less loss who beat them this week. Must be the satire post representing the BCS. :D

My computer is broken. That's not a metaphor. But it does expose how computers can be designed to make a mockery of the process.

Am I the only one who finds Jon having TCU and Boise State in the top five despite his protestations that a BCS championship game with either one wouldn't interest him in the slightest?

It's plausible, both because my rankings from week to week are a combination of the body-of-work style as well as the could-x-beat-y style. There's the occasional subtle change in how I rank teams based on the two approaches, none of this "X won while Y1 & Y2 lost, so X must move up two spots" stuff.
Plus, where that hybrid ranking style ranks them has no bearing at all on my level of interest. I'd have exponentially more interest in watching (to pick a couple at random) a 3rd tier bowl game matchup of Navy & USC than I would a Boise-anyone title game. All the latter does is highlight how flawed nearly all CFB teams have become and devalues the notion of being #1, while the latter judged on its own merits could be interesting in & of itself.
Further, the Lakers & Celtics would have almost certainly been high on an NBA power rankings list last year (if I did one) but I had no interest in watching them play each other either.
Not really as inconsistent as it might first appear.

I made an update to mine to reflect the actual formula rather than whatever the hell it was I ran last night. I'll chalk it up to working nights and having to go back for days, coupled with my actual computer being out of commission and having to use a backup.
But anyway, at least it's right now.
