Hurry, though, because only those who pre-order in January will get the game 2 days prior to official release.

Someone over at the ootp forums made this and posted this, but could you imagine?

Is the MicroLeague-esqe 2d screen above supposed to be a part if OOTP13?

If OOTP reached the point where it had players on the screen like Microleague Baseball or even the MLB Online Manager game, I'd probably wet myself. I find myself avoiding OOTP right now for that sole reason. Football Manager is my simulator of choice because it depicts the action.

Has anyone already preordered OOTP '12? I haven't played the game since OOTP 9 but back then a lot of people waited until the first patch to pick up the game. Have things improved "out of the box?"

Yes and things have improved GREATLY with ootp11. It's to me, what FM is to many people on this forum who rave about it.

I'm likely going to buy this version, but not pre-order. Always bothered me how they handled releases. Sort of "it'll be released at some point and that's all we'll say". Just give a target date and adjust. Pre-ordering a game that they advertise as "coming out at some point during this 3 month window" seems odd.

I've preordered with this version, but I couldn't agree more. Usually this stuff doesn't bother me, but for some reason, this year it has. The lack of communication from a company that I have already paid for their product is frustrating to say the least.
I preordered it some time ago, but this thread has reminded me to take a look at what kind of license will i get, as i ordered a windows version and i have switched to the mac side recently. Need to make sure that the key will work for the mac version.

The lack of a estimate delivery date has always bothered me. It can't be that hard to throw a date out there. If you think it will be ready in the beginning of May, throw out a May 30th release date. If you get it ready before then, then it is like Christmas for everyone when it comes out early.
I made a post on the OOTP board a couple of years ago showing how the pre-release information has dropped significantly over the years. The amount of pre-release information increased almost every year from OOTP 4 to OOTP 8 (2007) and has dropped every year since then.

And you probably got flamed for it............it'll be ready, when it's ready, right?

"Spring" is more than anyone else gives us, so I do appreciate that.
But ya, almost every other form of entertainment seems to deal in release dates. There's just this level of uber-sensitivity within text sim developers where the whiners control everything and the normal consumers are deprived of info.

Preordered one copy for me and one for my cousin based on the screenshot posted here. Couldn't really afford to do that yet, but I'll just eat vienna sausages until payday.

Update from Markus:
Hey guys,
things are progressing pretty well at the moment. Aurelio (our graphics designer) is close to finishing the new default skin, and that means we'll start beta in the next few days.
In case some missed it in the other threads, I have implemented a few new features that were not in the published feature list:
- Save game in progress and later resume it.
- Confirmation questions when making substitutions while playing out games (optional)
- The ability to 'lock' a player to a minor league level when the AI is in control of the minor leagues of your organization.
- I completely recoded the player evaluation AI, which will result in better computer decisions throughout the game.
Today I will meet with Andreas and we'll finalize the new online league features, which will make playing/joining an online league much easier than before.
The rest of the week I will finish up the new contract negotiations, then redesign the team financials screen and then concentrate the new few days on some of the missing historical features. After that it's bug fixing and adding small features until the game will be released.
By the way, iOOTP is still "In Review" by Apple, if it is approved by Thursday, it'll get released immediately http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/images/smilies/001_smile.gif
Cheers,
Markus

are we sure there won't be a visual representation of the players on the field in the actual game or was something messing with me earlier in this thread

Why is there development cycle so off from Opening Day? Makes no sense.
