Brother called last night, he was having some problems connecting wireless devices to their connection.

After discussing it with him, came to the conclusion that it appears that nothing new that comes into the house is able to connect. My immediate thought was that the person that set it up, set it up with MAC Addresses. I walked him through connecting to his router, but the MAC Address piece was disabled so.. didn't appear to be that. I had him shut off his firewall and that didn't work either so.. I was scratching my head about possible other issues.

Anything else to potentially look for? (It is a MIMO Belkin G router). He has tried to connect to it with a kindle, nintendo ds and a few other people have come over with laptops.. so, not just a 1 device issue)

Some basics that you/he may have already looked at but this is what comes to mind first.

* DHCP enabled on the Belkin router or static IP setup?
* If DHCP...does it have an IP address range configuration setting?
* If so...are there enough IP addresses in this range for the new devices?

* Are these new devices wireless N-only, or N/G capable? (most are)
* If N/G capable...are they set to use wireless G?

Is the router set to not broadcast the wireless network? If so, devices wishing to see the network need to be told to look for the specific SSID and you need to check the option that says "connect to network even if not broadcasting".

I believe everyone can see the network, just when they type the password it they can't connect.

The only connections that are ok are the connections to devices that were originally with them when they setup the router.

I haven't tried Steve's solutions yet... seems to be along the lines of what is happening.

Has he been giving out the correct password?

Resetting the password might be a good test if it isn't what Steve suggested.

Ya, that was my first question. :) (and it isn't saved because they are typing it in on the original device)

I didn't go the reset way because if something went bad, my brother is a computer novice at best so I didn't want to screw around too much with settings over the phone
