Welcome aboard Christopher Dale Nielsen, born about 10 seconds before the stroke of midnight, 11:59 on 2/12. 8 pounds, 2 ounces, mom and baby are doing well.

Daddy has been up for 38 hours straight, and is now home and about to get some rest before they send everyone home.

Congrats, CW!

And, if I may say, excellent timing there, Coffee Warbaby. I already see good things for you in the future.

Thanks to getting out of there just in the nick of time, you now share a birthday with such luminaries as: Abraham Lincoln, Charles Darwin, Christina Ricci, Josh Brolin, Brad Werenka, Darren Aronofsky and Honolulu_Blue.

Whoa! I can't believe I missed this. Congratulations!

That's what I get for being without a smartphone for a week and not keeping up with current events.

We're a week away from our due date, and from the looks of things - unless things progress quickly over the next few days - we may pass that date as well.

I see he already has his gaming headset lying waiting by the swing for him.

I think I had my son playing racing games on Xbox at 2 years old. Now he's 7 and he whips my butt at Smackdown vs. Raw.

Enjoy every moment!

For the married folk, and the handful of women here...

Pray you never get PUPPP after delivery (google it if you want to weep). A vicious rash that occurs in about 1-200, that spreads everywhere, and is apparently the most god awful itchy horrible nastiness ever. No definitive cause, it doesn't harm mom or baby, it goes away At Some Point on its own (hopefully soon), but my god, my wife is miserable from it.

On the plus side, baby is doing well, and is, for the most part, sleeping pretty decently during the night.

I had it and had to go to a dermatologist 2 weeks after the baby was born. They gave me some topical steroids that helped it go away within a few days. Actually, it might have been the claritin that they also had me get over the counter that really helped if you want to get that for your wife. And yeah, it was torturous to have that combined with no sleep.

You are the FIRST person I actually 'know' who has had it (hell, aside from the pediatrician and the dermatologist she went to, first person who has heard of it - her OB had no idea wtf she was talking about).

She got a steroid cream from the dermatologist, which has helped, but the persistant little fucker spread to pretty much everywhere it wasn't. Give the poor woman a break already. :)

CW - Our due date is tomorrow *gasp!* but Mrs. ABC is only 1cm dilated, 20% effaced. She's been feeling some Braxton-Hicks contractions, but hasn't found any progress between last week's OB visit and yesterday's.

So it seems we're going to overshoot our mark. I know the same happened to you - what if anything did you guys do to move along the process?

Not a damn thing, though bear in mind, she was only a day and a half overdue. You can pretty much wipe your ass with the due date, honestly. We were set to induce 8 days after her due date but other than that...wait it out. Or try Thai food (her last meal the night before). :)

It went weird for my wife - her water broke Saturday AM with very little contractions, we got to the hospital about 1pm, they got her set up, and after a few hours, added some of that shit they give you to speed up the contractions. Not long after, she went from 3cm dilated to 9-10 in like an hour and a half. (May be an old wives tale, but laying on her side did seem to rapidly hasten the speed at which she dilated).

).

Too funny, my wife had Thai for dinner when she was frustrated that she hadn't given birth yet, had some type of curry. That night at 10pm we were off to hospital and three hours later, child #2 was born. Things happened so fast she wasn't able to get the epidural she wanted (something to consider for proponents of this strategy).

We ate there again the day before her first birthday.

Thai food! We should try it tonight. CW, what did you order? A curry dish as well? I'm thinking Beef Panang. Spicy. :)

Can't believe I missed this - major congratulations to the CW household! Sorry to hear about the after birth stuff, but at least it won't have any lasting effects.
