Hey guys, new player here. I've scoured the forums a bit for tips, but I'm wondering if there's a new player guide anywhere I could check out?

I'd just like a little orientation as to what to do, what not to do, how to get the most out of the draft, stuff like that.

tl;dr:

What do you wish people had told you when you first started playing?

This is what I would've suggested. It's enough detail to help you get your feet wet, but not so much that it gets into indepth strategies and other things you could get lost in.

Honestly, the best thing any of us could tell you is to join a MP league once you get a handle on how the game works. You'll learn more in a good MP league than by mastering the SP game.

Oh, and the other thing I would tell a new person is to ignore gameplanning for a while. Rex (Recommend) all your gameplans or set it so the AI does it automatically every week. Gameplans can be confusing as all get out and you won't be able to use them until you better understand the underlying stats and how they work.

I strongly disagree with this. If you Rex your game plan, how the hell would you really learn anything?

Set up a game plan, use it for 4 games, see what happens. It's a small test sample, but in 4 games you can usually tell if there is a major flaw in it. From there, just make minor tweaks. Use the adjusted game plan for 4 more games. Tweak and adjust it, etc.

Fair enough. I just think that when starting out juggling the multiple gameplanning screens can be a bit much. I mean, playing around with gameplanning isn't going to teach you that getting downfield means YAC and not streak route ability.

If you do want to start gameplanning, then this is probably the best place to start: FOFC OFFENSIVE GAME PLAN LIBRARY - Front Office Football Central (http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/showthread.php?t=62660)

I'd second both of these, in that order.

Welcome to the game, youŽll love it. Gameplanning is a very big step but I used FOFC library and started tweaking these. Nothing serious just little things like run direction, keeping backs in for pass-protection and sending your SS on a blitz. See what kind of system you like, see how different kind of players perform differently. Make your team better through Free Angency and the draft and built a dynasty.

Once you get the hang of SP (single-player) join a MP (multi-player) league and relearn this game from scratch. :)

Good luck!
