My car was broken into at our Softball game last week and they took my Wifes sunglasses and my work ID and parking pass (why I don't know) but that was it as I don't ever leave money/valuables in the car.
I am very paraniod about losing the ID or if they got something else I didn't notice that may have had my address and name on it. This weekend I am cleaning my care out and removing everything except my CD's and owners manual. I will be putting my registration and insurance information in a folder that I can take with me whenever I am going to be parked anywhere for an extended period.
So with all this I am now considering getting an identity theft service and would like to know if anybody uses Lifelock or one of the others and what your experiences are with it?

I wouldn't worry too much about the work ID unless for some odd reason they put way too much information on the magnetic strip on the back, if it has one. A work ID card should just have your name, employee number and the ID number on the magnetic strip. It shouldn't have your social or anything else like that on there. If they do, they're morons.
As far as Lifelock, I've read pretty much mixed reviews. You remember the commercial of the CEO with his social security number on the back of the truck? Yup, he got hacked. However, I have also read that all Lifelock does is whenever someone tries to run your credit, it's limited on what they can see. Nothing you can't do for free.

Yeah, my work ID doesn't have any PHI on it, so that is not much of a concern, just racking my brain thinking what use they might have for it and that is when I get worried. Unless they thought they could get into my office, but the entry badge was deactivated.
I was more worried that they may have grabbed something I do not know is missing, or did not know I had to use in conjunction with the ID.
I already went to my bank and they put an alert on my account and I moved my money into an account they could not access, just on the off chance I had anything that would identify my checking account in the Car. I am less worried about that now as if they had something like that they would have trying to get money Friday morning. I will just be watching my accounts closely for a few days and keeping next to no funds in the account I use to pay bills with, which is the only account I ever have any information on outside of the house.
I have heard some of the same about Lifelock, like a few people did manage to steal the CEO's identity, though no real damage was done. Not planning to do anything yet, unless I run across someone who uses them and has a glowing review.

That's probably what they were thinking when they took your badge. The surprise is on them though! :)
Sounds like you've taken plenty of steps to minimize any potential damage.
From wikipedia: Later in 2007, the New Times reported that the services LifeLock provides are actually available for free with a few phone calls.[25] These findings were confirmed in 2008 by KGO-TV in San Francisco.
