This happened over in the Delta, about three hours from here. The story is big state news right now.
According to the Greenville paper, a 24 year old mother was arrested last night after a neighbor called in an unknown trouble complaint. Police arrived to find smoke coming out of the apartment. Upon inspection, they found her three year old in the oven. An autopsy is awaiting, but the coroner says it seems the child was dead before being put in the oven (head trauma).
The rumors today said she'd gone to DHS earlier to try and put her three kids in the system because they "added too much stress" and obviously she couldn't parent them. They told her the system was full and she had to find a way to care for them until there were some openings. Police supposedly found her outside, smoking a cigarette.
And why is the judge even giving her bond?
