We tried this 4 years ago. (http://operationsports.com/fofc/showthread.php?t=45614) It fizzled out after one month.
However, living in the future, we now have distinct advantages over our 2007 selves. First and foremost is readily available instant streaming of films.
Given this massive technological breakthrough, I think it would be incredibly easy to come up with a periodic (monthly?) movie club open to all who want to participate.
General premise would be:
1. Have rotating 'host' or 'leader' who selects the film and leads discussion.
2. Since the movie is available to everyone who has netflix instant streaming, anyone who wants to participate does.
3. We have a thread starting at a dedicated date where people chime in with the thoughts on the movie.
Motivation for the movie club would be:
-expose people to films they might not have seen
-if they have already seen them, have people reconsider/deconstruct films in a semi-formal setting
-debate the general merits and drawbacks of the films to hopefully achieve a greater appreciation for the work
Anyone interested?
