My high school in New Jersey plays in the Group 3 state title game tomorrow, after winning another state sectional title, this time as an 8-seed.
They lost in the Group 4 final last year, but were reclassified as a Group 3 school this year which is sort of big deal in the sense that they've always been a Group 4 school, but...if it delivers a state title home and jives with lower enrollment, all the better.
The six Group State champions then face off in a tournament of champions after that, but just getting there would be pretty cool.

Going from Group 4 to Group 3 is a huge deal. The High School I went to used to be Group 3 and was pretty competitive in football and basketball, but then got changed to Group 4 and struggled. The Move from Central Jersey to North Jersey classification didn't help either.

No question having to switch from Central to North would absolutely suck. The dropdown probably worked for them though, because they lost their best player this year when he transferred to a prep school in Maryland for his senior year, judging on their schedule they wouldn't have made it back to the Group 4 final this year, but Group 3 was probably just the right speed.
It wasn't a complete breeze, they needed 2OT to beat Teaneck in the sectional semis, but they beat Burlington Twp tonight and won the school's first boys state title since 1983. So that's pretty cool.

McClure North would have beaten SLU this year. They were stacked.

St. Augustine (40) at Plainfield (50), NJSIAA/ShopRite Tournament of Champions, Semifinal Round - NJ.com (http://highschoolsports.nj.com/news/article/-5615110150445335064/st-augustine-40-at-plainfield-50-njsiaashoprite-tournament-of-champions-semifinal-round/)
After claiming the Group 3 state title, they knocked off two others to advance to the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions final against #1 in the nation and Non-Public B state champions St. Anthony's, who they lost to earlier in the year in a tournament in NYC.
I don't expect them to pull off the upset, but easily the best year in school history from a club of scrappy kids who aren't world beaters, just play really well together.
Still, pretty cool.
