View Full Version : USB ports aren't working?

I have a Dell computer and within the last few days 4 of my 8 USB ports have suddenly stopped recognizing anything I plug in. Oddly enough, the 4 that work were all in use at the time, the 4 that don't were empty.

I've done some searches online. I've updated Windows and went to the Dell website and did a BIOS update. Neither seem to work. I'm trying hard not to call Dell because their customer service can be painful at times.

Anyone else have this happen to them or have any ideas? Thanks.

I'm dealing with this as well...mouse stopped working on my laptop yet my iPod will connect no problem. Tried that mouse on another laptop and it works fine. Huh?

I've uninstalled all the USB devices from Device Manager and restarted. All of the devices and drivers reinstall themselves but my mouse still doesn't work yet other devices do. I've also applied all updates from Toshiba and Windows but still no dice. Oh, this is a Vista machine.

Weird.
