I recently picked up a team in an MP league, and as the new season starts one of the team's old players was elected to the HoF. The player in question retired years before I took the helm, but he's part of the team history so I want to retire his jersey number. The problem is I have no idea how to find that information. Is there any way to access that?

If there's an archive of old league files, you could open an old one and look in-game.

...and that looks like the only place. The player's number is evidently stored in the same data table that has current team, personality, leadership, etc.--the stuff that you can't see after a player is retired.

Why is that? Always found it a bit annoying.

If it's stored, why hide it? Isn't as if the information is lost to save space.

It's stored with each season because it can change due to moving teams, changing positions, etc. "Player jersey number" really only has meaning for a handful of key players.

You're not following me. It's stored in the the table that Greg calls fof_playeractive. That table contains information about all *active* players. That table gets reset every season with information about *active* players. The data about players who aren't active is gone.

To be clear, you can't see that stuff because it's gone when he is retired. The table contains data regarding only the ~2800 players who are currently active.

Ahhhhhhh, my mistake.

Well, at least it's somewhere. What file would the table I'm looking for be in?

You'd load up that old export, look up the then-active player in-game, see what his number is.
