Dioguardi will cohost a new reality show on (where else) on the Reality show network (Better known as Bravo. The other cohost? Jewel
(you know....who will sa-a-ave you soul...)
WHo knows how bad /good this will be. They've tried an idol show on FOX already but with bands and it completely blew. This one is more about singer/songwriters. There's even a couple former idol contestants on the show.

I posted my thoughts about it in the AI thread. I'm definitely going to give it a shot, despite her involvement. Jewel has judged a reality music show before - Nashville Star.
In theory, this is closer to the kind of music reality show I would like to watch, so I hope it's good. And it's on Bravo, which gives me some hope.

So what is this, the 11th reality music competition-type show to go on this air this year?

Jackie Tohn was a Top 36 semi-finalist in Season 8 (http://www.americanidol.com/videos/season_8/hollywood_hopefuls/introducing_jackie_tohn/)
Bringing out the big names I see.

Just an FYI on this, since Idol is finished - this premieres on Memorial Day @ 10pm on Bravo. I'm cautiously optimistic, but I'm sure I will be disappointed pretty quickly. Either way, I'm going to give it a shot and hope for the best.

So, did anyone watch? We watched it last night, and I have to say, despite the obvious reality show casting tricks and copying the Top Chef episode formula to the minute details (I half-expected Jewel to tell the loser "please pack your drum sticks and leave the studio" and it was close to that), I still enjoyed that a million more times than any AI performance episode.
I was afraid it was going to be less than I thought it was - some of the promos talked about writing a lyric, and I was afraid they were going to give them a song and melody - but that's not how it worked at all. They basically wrote a song, given artificial restraints - a topic, a time frame, and then partners to work with. It was like a more substantive version of AI's Hollywood Week - instead of bitching about dance moves, they were actually writing a song. Which I enjoyed watching.
I'm guessing the ratings weren't great, and from the reviews I've seen, it might not last more than one season. But I'll definitely be watching. I'd rather watch artists fail and write crappy original music than watch mediocre singers sing popular music.

I finally got around to watching this, and I want to like it, but seeing who they chose as the winner of the first part of the challenge, I'm going to find it hard to do so. That hook (and her singing) was awful. At least they got rid of one of the worse in the end. I think its going to be difficult for any of them to give up enough control to work with somebody else in the second part of the challenge each week without a lot of drama and bruised egos.

Well, the singing doesn't matter to the show, and I assumed they chose her for the drama of it. It was just the "quickfire challenge" anyway. At the end of the day, her song was one of the 2 worst.

finally saw this. Was kinda interesting and yes Bravo formats all their shows like this. All the Top and Project shows. Which I think is good actually. THey keep the show moving, have lots of interviews on the side and focus on the action of the challenges. Will see if this subject actually works as a show. I like the judges at least. THey have negative things to say. :) What a concept...telling people they suck when they suck :)
Had no problems with who went home. That team was hilarious. The two guys even went from best buddies to throwing each other under the bus like THAT! OMG that diva that sang solo...she needs to go. She's on the wrong show...:P
