what is the effect of a red flag player? is it a possible conflict with players, definate conflict, possible or definate suspensions? has anyone drafted a red flag player and had horror stories or happy endings?

As far as I know, there's no documented information on red flag players.
Based on a very tiny sample size, which makes it suspsect to being completely false information, I've unconciously developed a theory that having a red flag player will have a negative effect on one of the factors involved that alters team performance, and I think it has a stronger effect when he's riding the bench.

does that player having an affinity lessen or negate that affect?

Anyone one have any more thoughts on this subject? I have seen answers that vary all over the place, form it's no issue to I won't draft one.

It wasn't an issue with me before, but I am beginning to lean the other way. I do agree with the player being on the bench causing it to have a greater negative effect.

From what JG himself said here, I've always thought that sometimes they'll have a negative effect, and sometimes they won't. As a result, I do not sign them to my teams...ever. Not interested in introducing that sort of X-factor, and I've done just fine without ever having one in MP.

Same as Ben in my approach to red flag players to the point I've skipped past studs in the draft for a 'safer' alternative.
My own hunch is they grumble about playing time alot faster than usual, somehow alter cohesion ratings and counter act the position leader but thats just my own wild guess.

Wow, what?
This is the first time I have heard about red flag being associated with *ANYTHING* other than "possibility of being suspended."
Wow I'm behind the times, I guess?

I thought it meant that if they got another red flag they get banned from the next soccer match.
But seriously I don't think that it has a huge effect. Just in case I tend to avoid them, unless the player fills a glaring hole on my team or is too good to pass up.

I generally avoid them, although I have a couple teams that already had some guys and they have fairly long term deals. Just wanted to get a better idea on what may/should do, thanks.

I've got a red flag punter and boy is he a pain in the lower back regions when it comes to contract negotiations. But other than that, he's a fine kid. :D

I thought the consensus was that they were harder to negotiate with, I've never worried about signing them.

One day I'll sign or trade for every Red Flag player I can get in a SP universe and see what happens.

Now I can't figure out where I got the idea that red flag players were more likely to get suspended, in the first place.
am I going crazy? did I get transported to some alternate universe where all the rules changed?
...combines are still important in drafting, right?

Just make sure you draft a fullback first. As you know, they're the key to the game.
