Our old desktop (6 years old) finally died. It won't boot anymore. I had already pulled everything important off of it months ago when we got our laptop, knowing this day was coming. The problem is - how do I wipe all of our data off of it if it won't boot? Do I have to physically destroy the hard drive? Give it a bath with magnetic soap? Any ideas?

Get one of these (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812232002&cm_re=usb_sata_adapter-_-12-232-002-_-Product) or something like it. I had a hard drive failure and borrowed one of these from a friend to get my data off of it. You can use it to erase it as well.
