Your breed of dog?

I lost my dog in February, and I'm going to get a new pup when my school year ends in early June. I've always had Golden Retrievers, but I think I'm going to get a Goldendoodle. What is your breed of choice?

We have 2 labs, a golden retriever, an american eskimo and a pomeranian. The Golden was the easiest to train, but we love them all. :)

We have a soft coated wheaten terrier. GREAT, GREAT dog. Big enough to play with but small enough to snuggle in and not feel crushed. Non-shedding, playful, non-barking unless provoked, great with kids. I love my little Callie-girl.

I had two Springer Spaniels that I trained to pheasant hunt. First one was a joy the second was a bit head strong but a great protector. Both were females.

Always thought about a Lab but stayed away because of size. As the second Springer was getting older we went ahead and got a Chocolate Lab. Great dog, I wish I would have ignored the size issue years ago. I really loved the Springers and would get one again but the Lab is just very special. I've aged and no longer hunt so she is "just" a house dog and a lot of fun. A huge part of the family.

English Bulldog.

A huge pain in the ass but the most lovable dog Ive ever owned. Super docile demeanor and can put up with a ton of shit.

Striking appearance, very smart, energetic, and quirky. Training must begin upon arrival, rarely can be let off the leash.

Labs are the best in my book. Lab mixes are better because of the problems incurred from overbreeding (my current dog is a full lab & has problems...)

Here's my main man Ace at about 4-5 months old, he's a Havanese (Cuban national dog). Havanese are legit. They don't shed and are hypo-allergenic. He's about 12lbs now at 7 months which is probably as big as he will get.

Australian Shepherds, one of the absolute smartest breeds I've ever seen. They are a herding breed, as you can guess from their name, and have unbelievable amounts of energy. They're great family dogs, too.

Grew up with Chows, so the change was huge. But I can't see myself ever having another breed of dog, amazing personalities and just a great dog.

Own a 150 lb. female Saint Bernard. Best dog we've ever had. Sleeps 15-16 hours a day and is the best dog I've ever seen with children. Very loving and loves to run around with the kids.

Pound puppy, nothing beats rescuing a dog. Worry less about breeds and more about the dog itself and you will be rewarded. Don't get a purebreed, you are just supporting a large % of people (not all) that abuse dogs by making them a business.

A Boxer and 2 Min Pins.

The Boxer is a great Dog, gentle and still as playful as a Puppy at 7 1/2, just thinks he is a Lap Dog.

The Min Pins live up to their name as King of the Toys. Independant, stubborn, but very loyal and affectionate.

All of them are like 4 legged Kids to us.

It's easier to find a breeder that sells puppies than it is to find a petstore that sells puppies. Might be a SoCal thing, but there just aren't too many pet stores around here that sell dogs

i have a mini labradoodle. i like labs, but have allergies. so this solved that problem. 5 months in, no sneezing. awesome.

Old English Sheepdog. Stubborn like a mule, but super gentle with kids and has really become a lazy, lovable goof the last few years (after some seriously rambunctious years as a pup). 90 pounds of sweetness (and fur!).

Aye. If anything gets within thirty feet of the house, mini schnauzer lets you know. No shedding, great with kids, loyal. The only drawback is that it is very excitable--visitors and other dogs send it into a frenzy of barking. I think that I just need to do some obedience training.

I had a dalmation before getting a lab. Dalmations aren't supposedly the top-10 smart dogs but I have little problems with her. The lab is a different story... high energy, high maintenance ... but let's give her another 6 months to get past her puppy stage.

I do not recommend a goldendoodle. We have a friend who has one and it is super hyper, doesn't listen, and is pretty funny looking.

Have a cairn terrier. He's a good size for a house dog, good size for a young kid dog, and he'd rather play ball than do anything else, so he's the perfect dog for my life.

Once he passes, I'd like a black lab. Grew up with them. Only problem is we don't have much of a yard, and the wife doesn't want a big dog to live inside.

I have 3 min pins and love them. I'd be curious as to what Troy doesn't like personally - I think they are amazing dogs.

The Min Pin was my wifes dog before the marriage. The dog is fiercely loyal to her and growls at me pretty much anytime I get within 5 feet of him. To say he's a grumpy dog would be an understatement. The most depressing dog I've ever been around.

Don't get me wrong, I can see that if I had come around 7 years before when he was a puppy things would be different. I did come around 7 years into his life though and he'd just as soon I stayed away.

So the Italian Greyhound and I have a wonderful relationship. The MinPin and I tolerate each other. :)

Mutt of unknown breed we got from a shelter. They said he was a lab-hound mix. The vet says he's neither lab nor hound but he's really not sure what he is. He's quite lovable though.. and great with the kids.

OMG Labs. Probably my least favorite, mostly because my eardrums can't take it. I used to volunteer at the HUmane Society and the high pitched whine-bark of a black lab in a cement kennel gave me such a headache.

Malamutes and german shephards however I found to be incredibly friendly, smart, and obedient.

But right now I have a German Shepherd. Not fun to get caught by her shark teeth, though.

For sure. Good thing is she catches onto things really fast. She even puts her toys back in the box when she's done playing with them, or when she gets a new one out (didn't even teach her that one, weird).
