View Full Version : Southern Fried Rasslin - 1987 CWA

The Continental Wrestling Alliance was at a crossroads in 1987. They knew they had a hot market in the South. Nashville (where the CWA was based), Memphis, out to Lexington, Kentucky and beyond.. the South had some great wrestling fans. They had some great wrestlers too: Jerry "The King" Lawler. Jeff Jarrett. The Soul Man (and future father of the Most Electrifying.. yeah, you know), Rocky Johnson. Wildfire Tommy Rich.
But they looked North. The WWF had started to become all-consuming. Jim Crockett Promotions, (who promoted on the National Wrestling Alliance name) were just above them. Then they looked West. The Von Erich led World Class Championship Wrestling still had power, despite the family's tragic history.
So.. they had to grow. Probably at the expense of others. But attempting to grow or changing too fast and they risked losing it all. As it was, they had a bloated roster. They hadn't rotated people in and out properly, and thus the roster became unworkable. Jerry Lawler apparently had a backstage fight with another wrestler over a limited payday.. he won, but still, there were thoughts that he was trying to protect his payday too much and the other wrestlers asked Jerry to step off the Booker role for a bit.
That's where I came in.

Monday, March 1: We have $250,000 in the bank, and are a regional sized promotion. We're C- in the South East (our base), D- in the Great Lakes, and E- in Mid Atlantic and Mid-West.
To rise to Cult, all we need to do is make a D in two regions. We're 90% of the way there.
But the roster, is, quite frankly, unworkable. We are sixteen people over our ideal roster. Even with the growth to Cult in the wings, we have WAY too many people to sustain. Especially if I want to hire people. So, it's time to bring out the ax, before I even start reviewing the roster.

Released from contract:
Stan Frazier - "The Giant Hillbilly Elmer" was on the chopping block from the start. His gimmic was semi-over, but his stats weren't anything to write home about, and to be honest, his character couldn't play in a bunch of locations.
Gypsy Joe - This one felt bad. In the real world, Gypsy Joe wrestled up until January 2011, but at 53, he had a decent rumble stat, and there's no way he can survive on this roster. His gimmick was pretty much dead as well.
Jonathan Boyd - The "Evil New Zealander", just returning from a car accident.. I decide that rather then drop him, I'll let his pay per appearance contract expire in four weeks and use his Main Event push to build up a couple guys.
Lou Winston - Tried to pull off the Bad Ass Gimmick, but between age (40) and skills (Low to non existent), it's nowhere near enough.
Ron Bruise - Decent brawler (D- Rumble), and good on camera, but quite frankly, it would take too long to build him up, and we have enough monster/bad ass types (Lord Humongous and Goliath to name two).. with him goes..
Don Bruise - HIs brother. Same thing as above.
Soul Train Jones - Well, Mr. Mike Jones, let's put it this way. Your wrestling skills are too poor to be useful to me. But there's a rumor that Ted Dibiase may sign a deal with the WWF at some point in the future, and they want him to play a rich guy.. you could do a great job as his butler/manservant (Yes, Mike "Soul Train" Jones) is better known as Virgil from WWF.
The Saved
The Hunter - Basically gets saved by the fact that one of our few managers/talkers, Bambi, is The Hunter's wife. He's an opener, his physical condition could be better (a 1982 car accident basically kept him out for a year and a half).. but, he's only an opener. Let's keep him on a short rope I guess.

Main Eventers:
Austin Idol - Our lone heel amongst the Main Eventers (Until I get a chance to move folks around and turn folks). Our current AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion. (and wait till I get to Lawler. I'm going to drop a stat about that title that is going to come off as ridiculous). Managed by Paul E Dangerously, can fight, good at entertainment , good physical stats, and good on Camera. He's going to have fun with Lawler. *evil grins*
Bam Bam Bigelow - The "Bammer" is a young gun who's hot, just 25, and got a great gimmick. Good at rumbling, very good on camera, I think he just needs a good push to get through the Lawler glass ceiling..
"Superstar" Bill Dundee -Memphis through and through. Great at the talking and performance side of things.. was playing Ricky Morton in Memphis before Ricky Morton realized that if he had long hair and Rock and Roll in his team name, he could pick up many, many barely legal chicks .
Brickhouse Brown - The weakest wrestler of the Main Eventers, he doesn't do anything particularly well. Was considered a candidate for cutting, but instead decided he's probably going to be fed to some of our monsters, he's got decent popularity around the US.. maybe he can get some of our other folks up.
Jerry "The King" Lawler - Entertaining as hell, great at fighting, good at wrestling. Do the crowds love him, or love to hate him? Yeah, depending on what he is, they do both. They love to see him win titles, and they love to see him lose titles. At the time the game starts, he is a FOURTY TWO time AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion (and the Wikipedia page lists him as a 46 time champion).. He eventually won the title FIFTY TWO TIMES. So, yeah, Jerry, you may not win the title again for a while. I can promise you interesting times, mind you..
Rocky Johnson: The Soul Man does just about everything at least decently. The fans love his gimmick. It looks like he can put a good match on with a lot of folks. I think I'll have to figure out what to do with Rocky.
Tommy Rich: Yeah, Wildfire is a good brawler. Not as good as Rocky in a lot of stuff, but I'll be damned if he ain't over like crazy.

Upper Midcarders: Just like the Main Eventers are face dominated, the Upper Midcarders are a bunch of cads and bounders. Here's the laydown:
Jonathan Boyd: As stated above, the 43 year old is probably on his way out. One half of the old Kiwi Sheepherders, good on Camera... and good at fighting.. Hmm.. who to give the old Kiwi one more run against?
Mr Shima - Well, this is CWA.. so you know a Japanese wrestler isn't likely going to be a good guy. Currently one half of the International Tag Team Title Champions with Tarzan Goto.
Jeff Jarrett - Yeah, call it what you will. Nepotism, etcetera. The boss's son is still hot in Memphis, and still removed from some of the crazier stuff of later years (for example, wrestling Dutch Mantell to the accompaniment of an orchestra for PBS, or creating a wrestling company called TNA).. He's down below due to the sheer amount of faces we have up top..
Chic Donovan - A memphis mainstay, had long fueds with Jerry Lawler and Bill DUndee. Possibly on the downside at 43, but still can go pretty well..
Dirty Rhodes - No, this is not a long lost cousin to Dusty. (although I'm sure they feuded at one point). Dirty and his partner Don Bass have had a long history in Memphis, as the Masked New York Asssassins, the Flames, and the Interns. Still can go at 40.
Billy Joe Travis - Standard Southern face, had feuds with Dundee and Lawler, but his momentum has stalled out.. probably a candidate to drop down at some point.
Don Bass - A rugged mat based brawler, good performance, everything you'd want out of a heel.

(I've already lost my write up twice, so real quick comments is all you get)
Midcarders
Allen West (Heel) The most redneck guy you'll ever see get a Playboy gimmick.
Goliath -(Heel) Old Monster type (47). Still has a decent look. Rest gone to shit.
Jack Hart (heel)- Better known as Barry Horowitz. Nuf Ced.
King Cobra (face) - A good face. brings energy. The old Southern tag team rules meant he would have to tag with Brickhouse Brown or Rocky Johnson though..
Lord Humongous - A younger Monster, better look, and not nearly as awful in the ring.
Mike Davis (Heel) - Only in Memphis (or more accurately in the South) would a Rock and Roll Team (the Rock n Roll RPMs) be a heel team
Phil Hickerson (Heel)- Evil Texan Brawler #415
Steve Keirn - (Heel) - You have to admire anyone who can pull off coming to the ring to the sounds of Sharp Dressed Man, dressed up like a Chippendales Dancer and then later in life, play a disgusting, tobacco chewing redneck named Skinner. In acting terms, that's called character range.
Tarzan Goto (Heel) - Mr Shima's tag team partner, good but not great. His garbage days are ahead of him.
Tommy Lane - (Face) The other half of the RnR RPM's.. no I don't know why he's a face and Davis is a heel.
SirFozzie
05-23-2011, 12:51 AM
Lower Midcarders and Below:
Boy Tony (Heel) - Quite possibly the ugliest looking photo I've ever seen (including Adrian Adonis). Yes, he's playing a Boy George gimmick. According to his bio, he went on to play a "middle aged honky gangsta" gimmick. Wait. What???
Brian Knobbs - One half of the Nasty Boys, his tag team partner (Jerry Saggs) is injured. Trying to develop himself as a singles competitor.
Pat Tanaka - Decent Undercard tag team specialist
Paul Diamond - See Pat Tanaka. Teams with Pat Tanaka. Played Soccer for a while.
Openers
Big Bubba - Teams with Goliath. That team's going to end as soon as I get the title off them. Had a chance to make a big name for himself in NWA/WCW. Unfortunately, it was as the Shockmaster, and you know how it goes. So instead, he's known as Tugboat.
JT Southern - Rookie paying his dues by getting beat up all over the south.
The Hunter - Meh. His wife is hot. I'd have to fire em both.

Titles
AWA Southern Heavyweight - Yes, this is the belt that Jerry Lawler passes around like party favors (biting my toungue so hard about other things being passed around like.. yeah, don't finish that line Foz). It's the top level belt. Austin Idol is the current Champions:
AWA Southern Tag Team - Held by Goliath and Big Bubba. When an opener holds the tag team title with an immobilie giant. We have a problem. Midcard
AWA International Tag Team - Mr Shima and Tarzan Goto own this. Probably going to fold it into the Southern title. Midcard

We have three basic storylines (all unchained) to start:
Austin Idol vs Jerry Lawler - Basically, Idol's about to make Jerry's life hell.
Rocky Johnson vs Jonathan Boyd - Basically, I need to find out if Boyd is worth a new contract. If he doesn't cut it, this will end in a loser leaves town match
Jeff Jarrett vs Chic Donovan - One more run for the Chic.. let's see how the boss's kid does..

I have the following five goals from Jerry Jarrett:
A) CWA Must not fall into debt at any point - Critical
B) Jerry Lawler must be kept above a C+ momentum - High
C) Austin Idol must be kept above a C+ momentum - High
D) Cannot hire or extend anyone with less then a D- in Stamina
E) Cannot hire or extend anyone with less then a D- in Selling
F)E) Cannot hire or extend anyone with less then a D- in Basics
Well.. what can we do, the Lawler/Idol feud will hopefully kill two birds with one stone.

We use our agreement with the AWA to arrange for a talent trade, sending Tommy Rich up north for three appearances, in return I get Sgt Slaughter for the same. Maybe I can get him to cut me a few promos.
We also get Tommy Rich some work with Jim Crockett Promotions.. and in return get Ivan Koloff. Hmm... I think I have an idea here..
Looks like we're going to lose Tojo Yamamoto to NJPW.

From the Flowers Hall in Alabama, it's
CWA Championship Wrestling
Pre Show:
Bill Dundee defeated Chic Donovan by small package at 8:13 (D+)
Tommy Rich defeated Mark Starr by pinfall (Piledriver) at 8:23 (D)
TV show, LIVE:
Austin Idol and Dirty Rhodes come out: Idol promises "I'm going to be the man that runs Jerry Lawler out of the CWA, baybee.. I'm gonna make his life not worth a plugged nickel. And it begins tonight.. Lawler.. get yourself a partner, if you can find one.. and we'll see who the better man is!" (C+)
Jonathan Boyd defeats Billy Joe Travis via Iron Claw submission at 4:26 (E+)
Big Bubba defeats Jeff Jarrett via disputed pinfall (Chic Donovan distracted Jarrett at ringside, Bubba attacked him from behind and got a three count with his feet on the ropes) at 5:26 (D-)
Donovan is celebrating his distracting Jarrett, when a mad Jarrett gets up and attacks Donovan, and the two brawl to the back (E+)
Rocky Johnson defeats Allen West after a Johnson Shuffle at 7:30 (D)
We go to the ring, where a man known across the US stands there.. it's Sgt Slaughter! "Atttennnnn-HUT!".. "I had a few weeks liberty, so I came down to the CWA, because I heard the fans there were some of the loudest, rowdiest, best wrestling fans in the world.. and they were right! So, CWA fans, I salute you!" He gives a crisp salute, but only to be bushwacked from behind.. It's Ivan Koloff! He doesn't work here!
"Stupid American, never watching your back! In my homeland, these fans would be sent to Siberia, because they are stupid, Capitalistic swine who fall so far short of the average Soviet worker! Just like your hero here.. (puts the boot into Slaughter).. Soviets are better!
(C+ for the Slaughter promo, D+ for the Koloff attack)
Jerry Lawler came out "I have to admit, Idol, I didn't think you would have the GUTS to challenge me.. I had all the wrestlers back there begging me for the chance to knock your head off here tonight.. but I chose the biggest, roughest meanest man.... Bam Bam Bigelow! (C+)
Idol and Dirty Rhodes looked like they had seen a monster, and Lawler grinned as the two advanced to the ring.
In the main event of the evening, Lawler was knocking Idol and Rhodes from Pillar to post.. finally Lawler dropped the strap, and the fans erupted, they knew what that meant.. Lawler climbed up to the second rope, prepared to drop the fist, but Idol seemed ready to interfere.. Bigelow chased Idol out of the ring.. and as Lawler grinned, Bigelow gave Lawler a high five...
Before grabbing him and powerslamming him to the mat, leaving the fans in shock!
Bigelow continued to put the boot in, as a laughing Austin Idol returned to the ring, accepting the tag from Rhodes, and added insult to injury, locked Lawler in the Las Vegas Leglock! Lawler's hand was lifted three times, and it fell three times.
(C+, Bigelow's heel turn was a complete success)
Post match, Idol, Bigelow and Rhodes were continuing to taunt the fans and kick the fallen Lawler.. but the jeers of the crowd turned into an almighty cheer as Tommy "Wildfire" Rich came charging down to ringside! Rhodes got a punch to the face, Idol took a Lou Thesz press, and Rich and Bigelow glared at each other, but the backstage crew seperated the two as the screen faded (C for the attack/save)
Post Show:
Slaughter defeated Mr Shima at 8:21 by Camel Clutch (d-)
Ivan Koloff defeated King Cobra at 7:41 after the Russian Sickle (D-)

It's Sunday night, that must mean it's time for:
CWA Championship Wrestling (Week 2 March, 1987) Live from Knoxville, TN
Preshow:
Brickhouse Brown defeats Lord HUmongous by pinfall at 8:15 (D-)
Sgt Slaughter defeats Dirty Rhodes by submission (Camel Clutch) at 8:06, good chemistry! (C)
ANd we're live!
After last week's shocking events, the world wants to know why, Bam Bam, why? Bam Bam Bigelow comes out.. he tells the fans that he didn't expect the fans to cheer him, because he turned on the closest thing that the CWA has to God.. that being Jerry Lawler. But it wasn't personal. It was all business. He has a new advisor. One who told him that he needed to break through Lawler. To make a name for himself. And he's going to introduce his advisor.. next week. (C-)
Austin Idol is gloating "Last week, I out-thought Jerry Lawler. I knew exactly who'd he pick.. and got there first. Hahaha.. I told you I was going to make your life not worth a plugged nicket, Jerry! But I'm not a sore winner, I'll tell you what, I'll be right back in this ring later tonight, and you can come tell me that I'm the better man!" (B+)
Jeff Jarrett defeated Mr Shima by DQ when Chic Donovan attacked Double J (6:38, E+).. Donovan beats down Double J, and as we go to commercial, Double J is left lying in the ring (E+)
We saw a new Jerry Lawler. He was constantly looking around ringside, and at the back, while he was fighting Tommy Lane.. obviously, he was expecting another attack. Tommy Lane nearly took advantage a couple times, but finally at 8:58, Jerry Lawler hit the piledriver for the three count (C)
Sgt Slaughter is in the ring..
"Koloff! You Maggot! You Scum! You Puke! Last week you had your shot, but you didn't get the job done. You thought I'd slink off with my tail between my legs, but let me tell you this.. these colors don't run! Next week, if you're not yellow, I want you to get two of your comrades with you, and I'll meet you with two members of my team, and we'll have a flag match.. right here in front of all these teams. After the match, the winning team's anthem will be played.. And that's gonna be the Star Spangled Banner.. And THAT'S.. an order..."
Koloff charges the ring, and a Katie-Bar-The-Door brawl breaks out, and finally, they send it to commercial as they're trying to keep Koloff and Slaughter apart. (D+)
When we come back, Austin Idol is sitting in the ring. "Come on out, Jerry.. You can't have left already.. you're not THAT much of a yellow-buried coward..."
Lawler comes out, glaring at Idol, who's smiling and kicking back in his chair. A furious Lawler attempts to slide into the ring... but a fan grabs him from ringsi.. wait.. that's no fan!
Lawler's long time rival, "Dirty" Dutch Mantell has returned to the CWA, and how.. he runs Lawler into the ring post.. and again! Meanwhile Austin Idol is clapping and waving his hands like a conductor imploring an unseen orchestra.. Lawler is left laying on the floor, his forehead busted wide open.. What else can Austin Idol do to torment the King? (B rating)
Tommy Rich is amongst those who help a bloodied Lawler to the back, but after Lawler disappears, Rich returns to the ring:
"Mantell.. Idol.. Jerry's going to give you the whippin you two so obviously deserve.. but I want to discuss one man. One man who begged and pleaded with Jerry last week to team with him. That man.. who took the handshake of friendship and turned it into a sneak attack. You say you want to break through, Bigelow? Well, I'm right here in the ring. Try to break through Wildfire.. if you can!" (C)
Bam Bam isn't one to walk away from a challenge, and he and Rich fight all over the ringside area.. back and forth, in and out of the ring. Rich seemingly has the advantage and goes for the Thesz Press.. but Bigelow CATCHES Rich in midair and turns it into a powerslam!
For good measure, Bigelow pulls out all the stops, putting his feet on the ropes, while pulling the trunks of Wildfire, but the ref misses the blatant cheating and counts the pinfall!
Bigelow slides out of the ring and grins to the camera. "Next week, Next week, all will be revealed.." (D)
D+ Show, in front of 4622 people

We're going to start touring the Great Lakes and other regions with lowlevel cards in an attempt to build up our base there at some point.
We start with a test run from the Chick Evans Field House in DeKalb, Illinois:
CWA Championship Wrestling
Rocky Johnson defeats Jonathan Boyd by pinfall after a Johnson SHuffle at 7:33 (D)
Bam Bam Bigelow comes out and introduces his new business advisor, the advisor to the stars, the Manager of Champions.. Mr. James E Cornette!
"I told Bam Bam here.. Bammer.. you got to make a name for yourself. I want you to find the biggest, meanest man on the block, and I want you to knock his head off... He did that with you Jerry Lawler, thanks to the generous assistance of Austin Idol.. and now Tommy Rich wants to step in our way? The poor fool won't know what hit him..." (D+)
Bam Bam Bigelow defeats Brickhouse Brown by pinfall at 8:22 with a power bomb (D-, Brown off his game)
Jerry Lawler is interviewed backstage: "I'll tell you what, Lance.. Austin Idol is starting to get to me. I know he isn't here tonight, so I'm focusing all my frustration, all my rage on you Dutch Mantell. You are like a rock in my shoe that I can't get rid of. For the last few years, we've been fighting all over the US.. well.. payback's tonight, Dutch! And then Idol.. I'm coming for you..."
(Is Lawler starting to show frustration with the mindgames of Austin Idol? Starts to look like it!!, C Rating)
Sgt Slaughter is in the ring, waving the American flag before setting it in the corner... "Koloff! Bring your men out here, so we can get this going!"
Koloff, Mr Shima and Tarzan Goto come out and start beating up the Sarge! But it only lasts for a few seconds, before Tommy Rich and Bill Dundee make their way out to ringside, and knock the Russian and his japanese cohorts out of the ring! (E+)
Sgt Slaughter, Rich and Dundee defeat Koloff, Shima and Goto at 7:29 when Slaughter clotheslines Koloff over the top rope to the floor, and in the ring, Rich hits Shima with a Thesz Press (D+, Sarge off his game)
Slaughter, Rich, and Dundee jeer the fallen foreigners outside the ring, and proudly sing the Star Spangled Banner inside the ring! (D)
As for our main event, Jerry Lawler and Dutch Mantell had a wild brawl. Even by Memphis standards, this one was insane.. the referee kept trying to seperate the two men, but this was a drag out, knock out fight! Lawler had always at least tried to outwrestle his opponents, but this apparently wasn't a wrestling match to him, it was a street fight.
Finally, the referee tried to seperate the two men in the ropes who were throwing haymakers at each other, and BOTH men pushed the ref down to continue the fight!
The referee had no choice but to call for the bell, disqualifying both men, and the ringside people had to flood the ring to seperate Mantell and Lawler.. this one's not over folks by a long shot! (C rating)
Sellout crowd of 2000, C- Rating, should help us in the Great Lakes..

I prepare to kill the Johnson-Boyd storyline as Boyd will be leaving the company the day after our usual Sunday show.. but pleased by the reaction to the Rich-Bigelow issues, I make that an official storyline.
Speaking of Rich, he had a pretty good run in his loan appearances, so far he teamed up with Wahoo McDaniel against the AWA's top heels, Sgt SLaughter and Nick Bockwinkle, and had a pair of failed attempts to gain the NWA World Heavyweight Title against Ric Flair (and on his way out, also lost to Tully Blanchard)
I decide to start offering a monthly Supercard, not on TV, but a chance to give a big show feel, let some of our lesser known wrestlers have a go, and more importantly, escape the one hour limit that we have on our TV show. Hard to focus everything in 60 minutes.

From the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium in South Carolina, it's
CWA Championship Wrestling (Week 4, March) Att:3,217 *SELL OUT*
Tommy Rich and Jerry Lawler come to the ring: Lawler told the world "Idol, the time for games is over. You and that no-good double crossing snake Bigelow are going to meet me and Wildfire in the ring tonight, and we're gonna get revenge on both of you! Oh, and Idol.. prepare for a rude surprise.. a rude, painful surprise!" (C+, the two storylines increase)
Rocky Johnson defeats Jonathan Boyd at 9:53 after a Johnson Shuffle. a disconsolate Boyd slumps in a corner, and the camera focuses on him as they go to commercial (D.. not the way I wanted the old-timer to go, even though I wanted Rocky to be dominant in the match to get a bit more of a rub)
Austin Idol is grinning as he talks with Lance Russell "Oh, the mind games are just beginning, Lance! Lawler doesn't know where he's coming or going, and I'm playing him like you would a guitar.. The game doesn't stop till I decide it's over, and it's only over when Lawler slinks out of the CWA with his yellow tail between his legs!"
Lance Russell interrupts: "Austin Idol, I've just been informed by the CWA Championship Committee that this wedensday at our monthly super card.. you will be defending the Southern Heavyweight Championship against.."
Idol re-interrupts: "Against Lawler? That's great! When I beat him, I can send him to the back of the line. I can promise you that he'll never get another Southern Heavyweight Championship shot again.. so come next week and see me.."
Lance Russell "Wait, Austin.. it's not Jerry Lawler.. It's "Wildfire" Tommy Rich!
Rich shows up behind Idol and Idol turns, sees Wildfire and freaks out, and goes running back stage, Wildfire grinning and plays to the crowd in the Ring! (C)
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Bill Dundee defeated Dirty Rhodes in 11:10 by pinfall with a Small Package. (D+)
Dutch Mantell is interviewed via tape: "Jerry! You have no match for this Wedensday, so why don't you and I get down town and dirty, huh? You set the stips, because I'm being paid good money to hurt you. Some Las Vegas dollar coins, if you know what I mean.. so if you want a piece of me, I'll see you next wedensday.. it'll be a nice way for you to retire after I hurt you!"
(C-, and confirmation that Austin Idol has paid off yet another top wrestler to make Jerry Lawler's life hell!)
In the main event of the evening, Idol and Bigelow took on Wildfire and the King, and this was a pretty good match, back and forth. The end came when Lawler was attacked by a strap wielding Dutch Mantell.. Rich tried to come to the aid of his partner, but was prevented by Bigelow and Idol, as the referee tried in vain to seperate Mantell and Lawler on the outside, Idol and Bigelow grabbed Rich and that mama's boy James E Cornette snuck into the ring with that tennis racket of his, but before Cornette could use it, Wildfire turned the situation around, smacking Idol and Bigelow's heads together, and the clonk of the two coconut-style craniums colliding could be heard in the cheap seats!. Cornette swung anyway, and Wildfire ducked, pulling it out of Cornette's hands, and just as he was about to use it on Idol...
The referee turned around, saw the loaded tennis racket in Rich's hands, Idol on the ground, and put two and two together... and to the jeers of the crowd, disqualified Rich and Lawler! (C+, Lawler off his game, Cornette did a good job. Storylines tick over)
A visibly angry Lawler slides back into the ring.
"Dutch Mantell, I knew you were slimy, but taking money from that Las Vegas loser idol? You want a fight,, You want to hit me with a leather strap? Fine. Next wedensday night, it'll be you and me, alright, in a strap match!"
THe crowd eats this up, despite the fact that they won't get to see it (B)
C rated show.

A slight issue before the SuperCard, Rocky Johnson was torquing people off back stage with his attitude.. I think he's upset that the feud with Boyd was short circuited.. well, that and the booking I had for him...
CWA April Supercard (Sell Out: 2,000 crowd, from the University Of Memphis Campus.. ((Come on, you thought I'd run the first supershow anywhere BUT Memphis? Call it a dollar-foolish but thematic move))
Pre-Super Card matches: (ie, get some underused folks a paycheck)
In an extremely short match, Boy Tony defeated Mark Starr in 4:52 by pinfall with a Small Package. (D-)
In an extremely short match, Dirty Rhodes defeated JT Southern in 4:02 by pinfall with a Piledriver.(D+)
In an extremely short match, Billy Joe Travis defeated The Hunter in 5:29 by pinfall with a Piledriver.(E+)
Main Card:
In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Jeff Jarrett and Brickhouse Brown defeated Big Bubba & Goliath, Mr. Rising Sun & Tarzan Goto and Badd Company in 12:25; the order of elimination was Mr. Rising Sun & Tarzan Goto first, then Badd Company, and finally Big Bubba & Goliath. Jeff Jarrett and Brickhouse Brown unify the Southern and International Tag Team Titles (D)
Lawler came out and hyped up the crowd about the strap match they'd see, and the pain he'd inflict on Dutch Mantell.. and how he was dreaming about every time he'd hit Mantell with that leather strap, he'd be dreaming it was Austin Idol... (C+)
Austin Idol interviewed backstage (staying well away from the raging Lawler), and told everyone if they paid good money to see Tommy Rich take his Southern Heavyweight Title away.. well they should be going to the ticket office right now and demand their money back, because there's no way the belt's not going home with him, daddy-0! (B)
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Don Bass defeated Bill Dundee in 9:57 by pinfall with a Piledriver following interference from Dirty Rhodes. (Dirty Rhodes gets revenge on Bill Dundee for defeating him last week, but it's not going to be a storyline, Bass and Dundee just do not click, and it showed) (D-)
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Rocky Johnson in 12:49 by pinfall, illegally using the ropes for leverage. (D+) (The Bammer push continues!)
Mantell promises the world that they won't be seeing Jerry Lawler on TV this sunday night, but if they want to see him, they can go to the Memphis Hospital, because that's where Lawler's going to be, and Mantell's going to be a rich man... (C-)
In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Tommy Rich defeated Austin Idol in 19:22 by pinfall with a handful of tights. Tommy Rich wins the AWA Southern Heavyweight title. (Wait, Tommy Rich using tights? Well, against Idol, the fans lapped it up.. the look on Idol's face is priceless.. what will he do without his Southern Heavyweight Championship?) (C Rating)
Idol is throwing a fit in the ring, berating the ref, kicking the ropes, and basically getting in the way of the Championship celebration, finally Rich has had enough and slaps the taste out of Idol's mouth, sending him scurrying to the back... (C+)
In the cool-down match after that insanity, In an extremely poor match, Tommy Lane defeated Brian Knobbs in 7:50 by pinfall with a Powerbomb. (E+)
The fight between Lawler and Mantell was nuts. Both men wore "the crimson mask" during the match, and yes, the Strap was used frequently. Mantell had touched three corners and paused to yell at the fans before touching the fourth.. big mistake.
It's formulatic, but the crowd absolutely loves it.. Lawler pulls him back at the last second, starts throwing punches, drops the strap, throws the big knockdown punch, climbs the rope, drops the fist on him.. grins at the crowd, does it a second time, and then with 2,000 fans urging him on, lifts Mantell up, before spiking him RIGHT on his head with a piledriver, and it was just a procession from corner to corner at that point, but the crowd still exploded when Lawler touched the fourth corner.
In a bout that featured great action and a good crowd, Jerry Lawler defeated Dutch Mantell in 21:25 when Jerry Lawler was the first to touch all the corners. (B-)
On his way out, Lawler yells to Lance Russell "Tell the Championship Committee that I don't want the title.. I want Austin Idol!" (and the crowd cheers) (C rating)

Ouch, Jim Crockett Promotions signs a PPV deal with CableVision. We're still regional, so we need to get up to cult, because sooner or later our rivals are going to hit national and then it's time to raid the smaller promotions like me.
Teaser: At least one new signing before our next card.. and a big announcement.. you don't want to miss it!
The good news is that Paul Diamond apparently wants to get in the good graces of everyone, and he does so by hitting a local liquor store before coming in, and bringing enough alcohol with him to "float a boat".

We decide to push a series of weekly cards in the Great Lakes area, that saves the TV show for the more rabid fans in the South.
We also swing a couple trades with the AWA. We trade them Bam Bam Bigelow (for one appearance) and Billy Joe Travis for three appearances, and get Larry Zybysko (for one appearance) and Leon White (better known as Vader). They'll be appearing on our Weekly Great Lakes card since they have more name value with the fans there.

Before our Weekly Supershow, we get word that Rocky Johnson has got into trouble YET AGAIN, he got into a heated argument with a fan outside the arena. He had to be dragged inside before he made it physical. That's three strikes.
The fans love him inside the ring generally, but he is a royal pain in the ass outside the ring, and he hasn't even been doing that well inside the ring lately. Well, time to drop the heavy end of the hammer. I tell him he's on his last chance. He's not going to be used tonight.... and if there's one more incident, he's getting fired.
He promises to try to control himself a little better next time.
I feel like saying "If there's a next time, it will also be a last time."
We do make two new signings, two guys for whom the sky is the limit, hopefully, that being Sting and Scott Steiner. We'll have them do some solo work and team together, see how that works.

Lawler asks "So if I punch you, I spend in the night in jail?"
Idol: "Yes you do, daddy-o.. what do you think about that!"
Lawler: "It'll be worth it.."
Idol dives out of the ring as Lawler goes chasing after him, and only a bunch of wrestlers from the back stop Lawler from breaking the restraining order. During the hubub, it's announced that both men will be allowed to choose each other's opponents tonight.. (C-)

Time to find a new team to put the title on...)
Jerry Lawler comes out, and his Austin Idol chosen opponent is, Leon Bull White! (C-)
Lawler stalks back stage after the match and finds Idol, drags him out to the ring, and floors him with one hellacious punch! (D+)
Idol, gets up and calls out the police "Arrest that man! Arrest Jerry Lawler! He's violated a restraining order!" Reluctantly, the police do arrest Lawler, and drag him out, Lawler struggling to get free, while Idol gloats in the ring (C-)
In the ring, Idol gloats.. "Well, since Jerry Lawler, that no good crook is off to jail where he belongs, I guess he can't choose an opponent for me, right? So I think I'll pick a ham and egger back there, and make him famous, daddy-o.. I choose.."
ATTEN-HUT!
The crowd loses its mind as Sgt Slaughter comes out..

Good good.. I'll try to get the May Supercard done today..
Our costs are.. not good.. as we enter our final pre-end of month TV card, we're losing about 40K this month, but that's because we're doing small shows in the Great Lakes and paying for our stars twice a week. Now that I've seen that we CAN pull a rating in the Great Lakes, time to bump that up to medium. Also, TV and Sponsors Revenue should push us to a nice profit.. but next month, I have to get our show renewed (and hopefully spread to the great lakes).. we need to be on TV

Great Lakes (#2 of 5)
Mid Atlantic (#2 of 5)
Mid West (#2 of 6)
New England (#2 of 5)
North West (#2 of 6)
South West (#2 of 5)
Tri-State (#3 of 6)
Puerto Rico (#3 of 4)
So in six regions, we were a solid Number 2. Wait, does that mean we wrestled like shit?
We put out a ton of feelers to networks in an attempt to either get a new show, or expand the one we have. Just a wait and see now..
Thanks to Sponsors and TV revenue, we managed to eek out about 10K positive in finances.

CK as in Mike Rapada? Damn, he really would have been green, just 21 y/o in 1987 (and in real life is more than 6 years away from his USWA title & win over Lawler and IIRC even farther away from his run as NWA N.A. Champ)
Yup. And Lawler's taken him under his wing... scary huh? :)

Yup. And Lawler's taken him under his wing... scary huh? :)
Quite possibly the least likable Facey McFace character I ever saw, a guy who made Dean Malenko look like The Rock in terms of charisma.
Coupled with a move set that was about what the kids on Tough Enough have during week zero before training starts & an unbeatable push courtesy of Bert Prentice (who controlled the NWA N.A. title from Nashville) and it was enough to make a guy cheer for every heel who came through the promotion ... ANYTHING was better than another week of CK as champ.
Outside of being an uninteresting & undeserving champ with zero work rate, he seemed like a decent enough guy (although perhaps a bit odd), had his ego in check enough to do his part during tear down after the show & was at least cordial to us handful of smarks who were helping with the load out. That's better than I saw out of any number of guys when I was going to the indys a lot.

Pre the Monthly SuperCard, Steve Keirn relaxed the guys telling old road stories.. kept things loose (Backstage up to 93.9%)
From the Bob Martinez Sports Center in Tampa Florida, it's
the CWA MAY SUPER CARD! (Att:3,242, SELL OUT)
Pre-Card:
In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Scott Steiner defeated Mark Callous in 7:20 by pinfall with a Frankensteiner. (D)
Main-Card:
Sgt Slaughter comes out: "Mantell! Last week on TV, you and I had some unfinished business. We fought to a double countout.. well, these fans deserve better than that! Tonight, we fight in a Boot Camp match. The rules are... there are no rules. Pin a man in the ring, outside the ring, in the stands, at the concession line.. it doesn't matter! But this time we WILL have a winner.. and that's.. an order..." (C-)
In a bout that had solid in-ring action and average heat, Dirty Rhodes and Don Bass defeated Sting and Jeff Jarrett in 10:12 when Dirty Rhodes defeated Sting by pinfall with a Piledriver. Don Bass and Dirty Rhodes make defence number 2 of their AWA Southern Tag Team titles. (D)
Jerry Lawler has an interview in which he taunts Austin Idol. (B)
In an extremely short match, Scott Hall defeated Billy Joe Travis in 3:54 by pinfall with an Elevated Powerbomb (D-)
Scott Hall grabs the house microphone: "Since I came to CWA, I've dismantled every person the CWA has put in front of me.. I want some REAL challenges, or I just might have to stick my nose where it don't belong to get some!" (D)
The Sarge and Dirty Dutch had a good old fashioned Boot Camp match. The action stayed in the ring.. for about five minutes. It went all over the place, up and down the stairs (Mantell knocking Slaughter down a flight of stairs with a punch at one point). In true Memphis style, this ended up at a nearby concession stand where Slaughter dodged the oncoming Mantell, who crashed into the stand, , breaking it in half, and Sarge grinned, folded the smashed concession stand over Mantell and pinned him in it!
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Sgt. Slaughter defeated Dutch Mantell in a Boot Camp match in 21:27 by pinfall. (C)
In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Chic Donovan defeated Tommy Lane in 7:39 by pinfall with a Piledriver. (E+, calm down the fans, unfortunately, calmed them down too much!)
Austin Idol cuts a promo hyping up his upcoming match with Jerry Lawler. "You are all privileged. You will be here for the END of Jerry Lawler's career!" (B)
A video plays hyping Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Tommy Rich. (C+)
The Semi-Main.. well.. I pushed it too long unfortunately. The Bammer is a beast, but he's not ready for an 18 minute match. But, the finish was pretty good:
Wildfire hit Bigelow with a Thesz Press.. but Cornette got up on the apron to argue with the referee. Rich grabbed Cornette, and dragged him into the ring!.. and playing to the crowd, prepared to sock Cornette into the middle of Next Tuesday..
but Bigelow had Cornette's tennis racket, and while the ref was trying to pull Cornette out of the ring, socked him with it right across the back. No.. Not like this! 1..2..
And the referee saw the handle of the tennis racket sticking out from underneath Bigelow.
Smart refs we have here in the CWA, huh?
In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Tommy Rich defeated Bam Bam Bigelow in 18:05 by disqualification. (D+)
A video plays hyping Jerry Lawler vs. Austin Idol. (C+)
In the Main Event of the evening:
Austin Idol came out to a spectacle. Six muscle bound amazons carried "The King Of Las Vegas" out on a throne, and two "Vegas Showgirls" helped him off his throne and into the ring (C+)
Lawler had no such pomp and cirumstances, mind you. He came dressed for a fight!
Idol tried every trick to get Lawler down.. he even handcuffed Lawler to the ropes for an extended beatdown before the referee finally grabbed the key and unlocked Lawler.
But no matter what he tried to do, Lawler would get back up and wade right back into the fight. Finally, Idol had had ENOUGH.. and while Lawler was down, he went to ringside and grabbed a steel chair from ringside, and prepared to pulverize Lawler, who was crumpled against the ropes.
He taunted the fans as Lawler got to his feet and swung....
LAWLER MOVED, the CHAIR HIT THE ROPES AND BOUNCED BACK INTO IDOL'S FACE..
Well, that's THWUNK of chair hitting flesh was music to Jerry's ears.... and he followed up, and how.. He dragged the chair to the center of the ring.. picked up the semi-conscious form of Austin Idol.. Looked to the crowd who yelled as one "DO IT!"
And Piledrove him on the chair!
Needless to say, the 10 count was a given at that point!
In a bout that featured great action and a good crowd, Jerry Lawler defeated Austin Idol in a Memphis Death Match in 17:06 by pinfall with a Piledriver. (C-)
Having picked up the victory, Jerry Lawler goes out into the crowd to celebrate with his people. (B-):

One more quick card while I'm (hopefully) getting a bunch of tv show requests answered. Not going to be pushing storylines here, much, just your average "People show up and wrestle show".. I think Idol/Lawler are just about done, but I want to try to bring it one more month, where I can wrap up the Last Temptation of Tommy Rich while I'm at it..
From the Chick Evand Field House in DeKalb Illinois (Att:2,000, SOLD OUT)
In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Scott Hall defeated Sting in 9:19 by pinfall with an Elevated Powerbomb (D+, Pringle did good work at ringside)
In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Jeff Jarrett defeated Shawn Michaels in 10:34 by submission with a Figure-Four Leglock. (D-)
A video plays hyping Larry Zbyszko vs. Tommy Rich for next week
In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Dutch Mantell defeated Rocky Johnson in an Indian Strap match in 16:02 by pinfall with a Piledriver. (D+, great chemistry)
Jerry Lawler had an interview hyping his upcoming singles match with Dirty Rhodes. (D+)
In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Bill Dundee in 7:45 by pinfall with a Power Bomb after Jim Cornette interfered. (D)
Inside a steel cage, In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Jerry Lawler defeated Dirty Rhodes in 14:34 by pinfall with a Piledriver. (D+)
Having picked up the victory, Jerry Lawler celebrates in the ring. (C-)
Final Rating: D+
Obviously, we need to go back to a small show.. we get a bigger crowd, but the crowd was REALLY tough on the stuff, like a full letter grade lower then what I expected.

The good news is: We manage to re up our TV show for three seasons. The bad news is that we give up our revenue.. but without TV, we're up the creek without a paddle.
Unfortunately, CWA is exclusive, so we can't expand the show to other markets, and no one wants a second CWA show.

It's announced before our first TV show of the month, that the CWA has commissioned a new title: The CWA Television Championship. The belt will be fought for (and defended) solely on television in 15 minute time limit matches, and a tournament to crown the first TV champion will be held starting this week.

CWA Championship Wrestling Week 1 May

Main-Card
The show opens with Austin Idol in a neckbrace and sunglasses, coming down to the ring. He seems composed and the same Austin Idol that the fans have known and heckled for months.. but finally once he removes the sunglasses.. there is madness in Austin Idol's eyes.
"Lawler! You think it's over? You think you ended it last wek when you piledrove me on a steel chair in front of all the fans watching? It's NOT OVER! IT'LL NEVER BE OVER, JERRY LAWLER! I AM GOING TO HAUNT YOU TO THE ENDS OF THIS EARTH AND BEYOND... I am willing to do anything... ANYTHING DO YOU HEAR ME??? To get you back into this ring so that I can have my revenge back on you. I know! The one thing that I value more than anything.. besides MY SOUTHERN HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE, LAWLER, WHICH YOU STOLE FROM ME.. is my good looks. My hair.... that's it! Lawler! Face me in a match.. and if you win.. you can.. you can.. YOU CAN SHAVE MY HEAD FOR ALL I CARE.. But I won't lose. Not to you, Lawler. I WILL NOT LOSE AGAIN!"
(Gee, I think Austin Idol is taking this defeat kind of personally, don't ya think?) (C+)
In the first quarterfinal of the TV Title tournament, In a match that had some good action and average heat, Scott Hall defeated Sting in 10:21 by pinfall with an Elevated Powerbomb. (D+)
Jerry Lawler comes out and calls Austin Idol to the ring.. "For the past couple of months, you've made my life hell, Austin Idol.. feels strange to have the shoe on the other foot, don't you think? You've had me beat up.. played mind games with me.. but you're telling me it's never over between us? Face it Idol... if I beat you again and shaved you bald, you'd get back up and claim that you were robbed.. again.. and just attack me again. No, Austin, I don't need to beat you again to know that I'm the better man.. these fans don't need me to beat you again to know that I'm the better wrestler.. and besides.. I'm enjoying you squirm way too much!"
Idol freaks out and gets in Lawler's face, who knocks him down with one punch! Lawler leaves to cheers, and Idol throws a fit in the ring once he gets back up, to the fan's delight (B-)
In the TV Title Tournament, In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Scott Steiner defeated Phil Hickerson in 11:24 by pinfall with a Frankensteiner. (D-)
In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Dirty Rhodes and Don Bass defeated King Cobra and Jeff Jarrett in 10:20 when Dirty Rhodes defeated King Cobra by pinfall after using a foreign object. Don Bass and Dirty Rhodes make defence number 3 of their AWA Southern Tag Team titles. (D)
Chic Donovan comes out and continues to beat on Jarrett outside. "You've not paid your dues, Kid!" (E)
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Jerry Lawler defeated Big Bubba in 7:12 by pinfall with a Flying Fistdrop. (C-)
As Lawler's accepting cheers inside the ring, the camera shifts to backstage, where Tommy Rich is down on the ground, being beaten by Bam Bam Bigelow, Austin Idol and Jim Cornette! They lift a groggy Rich up, and Cornette Rams the butt-end of that loaded tennis racket right into Rich's throat!
Lawler runs backstage and the heels scatter, as Lawler guards Rich and frantically calls for a medic.. (C-)
D+ rated card.

Tony Falk (Midcard)
Brian Knobbs (Lower Midcarder)
Lord Humongous (Midcarder)

The backstage rating drops 15% as a result of the firings, but what can you do. They were starting to get irritated..
From the Bob Martinez Sports Center, it's
CWA Championship Wrestling (Week 2, MAY)
Pre-Card
In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Sting defeated Mark Callous in 6:33 by submission with a Scorpion Deathlock. (Don't Click, awkward bout, D-)
Jerry Lawler is shown taking part in a press conference. He says that he accepts the challenge that Austin Idol made, and will face him in singles competition. "Idol.. the fact that you injured my friend Tommy Rich to get to me.. Not only will I beat you and shave your head.. I'm going to send you to the hospital.. just like you did to Tommy!" (B-)
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Sgt. Slaughter defeated Goliath in 10:22 by pinfall with a Gut Buster. (C-)
A video is played in which a weak-voiced Tommy Rich gives a heartfelt promo commenting on the injury he has recently suffered. Rich promises to return to action as soon as possible. He promises that the voice of Wildfire has only been dampened, and soon it will be roaring, and Bigelow and Cornette and Idol will find out soon... (C)
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Bill Dundee in 12:02 by pinfall with a Power Bomb. (C-)
In the main event of the evening, where if Austin Idol lost, he was going to be shaved bald.. it was a wild brawl, yet again.. but Idol was too.. animalistic this time. He clipped Lawler's legs and left him hobbling. Once again, he went outside and got a steel chair.. but he wasn't waiting for Lawler to get up this time.. Instead, five.. six.. SEVEN times, he brought the unforgiving metal of the chair down on Jerry Lawler's injured Legs.
Then, to add Injury AND insult to just plain injury, he crashed the steel chair over the fallen Lawler's head.
And then, just to be sure, he locked in a Las Vegas leglock. Three.. four minutes in, and finally the ref stopped it, when an unconscious Lawler could not answer the ref.
Idol has snapped, and what does this mean for the King? (B-)
Having picked up the victory, Austin Idol celebrates in the ring, and goes crazy, running around the ring like a madman, dumping water over himself, and hugging the referee and ring announcer. Two fans jump over the rail to attack Idol, but are barely held back by security as the show ends... Idol has gone too far... WAY too far.. (B-)

In interesting news, Continental Championship Wrestling and World Class Wrestling Alliance (WCCW) have declared war on each other. Guys, we have bigger fish to fry...
I have to figure out what I'm going to do if Jerry leaves. He probably will. He loves Memphis.. but the security of a written contract with the top wrestling company in the world? That'd be.. hard for him to overcome for a Pay Per Appearance contract with a regional fed.
And if to just make things more blatant where they're heading, WWF has gone on a massive signing spree: Nikita Koloff, Ray Traylor (The Big Bossman) and Tully Blanchard from JCP. Ken Patera (Free Agent), Candi Devine (From the AWA) and in a blow to every fan who's ever sung "The Yellow Rose of Texas", Kerry Von Erich from World Class Championship Wrestling
I think things over. Think on them hard, and then a germ of an idea comes up.. it's a crazy idea. I have no idea how it's going to fly, especially in Memphis. But as the saying goes.. it's so crazy that it just might work... especially if Lawler gives us one more match....

Shawn Michaels (who has just signed a contract with CWA!) is in the ring. "Last few weeks, I've uh.. done some things I'm not uh.. proud of. I hope the fans forgive me.. I know I need to re-earn their trust.."
Before he can go much further, Don Bass and Dirty Rhodes attack Michaels from behind! Sting comes racing down to save them, and knocks them out of the ring.. while Bass and Rhodes fume on the outside, Sting puts his hand out to Shawn Michaels, and the handshake is accepted! (E)
In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Shawn Michaels and Sting defeated Dirty Rhodes and Don Bass in 9:08 when Shawn Michaels defeated Don Bass by pinfall with a fast roll up. (D-)
In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Bam Bam Bigelow and Austin Idol defeated Jeff Jarrett and King Cobra in 10:46 when Austin Idol defeated King Cobra by submission with a Las Vegas Leglock. (D-, King Cobra was way way way off his game.)

From The FLowers Hall, in Alabama.. it's.
CWA Championship Wrestling May, Week 3 (Att:3,706)
Jerry Lawler comes out, limping. "Fine. I thought we were over and done, Idol. But you're right. It won't be over till you or I get run out of town on a rail. So.. tonight, we're settling this once and for all.. in front of these great fans, and the world watching on television. Let's hook it up one more time. Austin Idol and Jerry Lawler. LOSER LEAVES THE CWA! (B-)
Bigelow and Idol rush in and start beating down Lawler.. the crowd murmurs.. Idol tells Lawler he accepts, and while Bigelow holds down Lawler, Idol grabs a steel chair.. no.. not again!
But the fans shrieks of horror hit an entirely DIFFERENT timber, as Tommy Rich, with a neckbrace onm came down to ringside with his OWN equalizer in his hands, a steel chair! He swings and barely misses hitting Idol for a home run as the heels scatter. He helps Lawler up, and they embrace.. (C-)
In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Shawn Michaels defeated Mark Callous in 6:38 by pinfall with a Flying Elbow Drop. (D-)
Austin Idol had an interview hyping his upcoming singles match with Jerry Lawler (C-)
The main event.. it was held inside the confines of a steel cage. The fans had high expectations, and it lived up to it. Both men were bloodied by the end of the match. The crowd's ferver built up and up.. Lawler had Idol up for a piledriver, when the fans noted that Cornette and Bigelow had a pair of bolt cutters, and were prying the door to the cage open!
They finally break in, and Lawler goes out to meet them, and is doing ok in holding off Bigelow and Cornette and here comes Wildfire Tommy Rich, still with the neckbrace and the steelchair!
He jumps through the open door, Cornette dives away from Rich before he can be hit.. and Wildfire winds up...

and clocks Jerry Lawler.
You could hear a pin drop as the bloodied form of Lawler slumps to the mat, unconscious.
Idol covers. no.. this is a travesty, no... 1.....2.....3!
And Jerry Lawler is gone from the CWA. (C+, Tommy Rich's turn is a wild success)
Idol grins, bloody against the ropes as the fans begin to protest what they just saw. Cornette, Bigelow and Rich hug each other, as Rich removes the neckbrace to show everyone he was fine all along! and raise each other's arms in triumph.
Cornette picks up the microphone. "What you just saw is the formation of the most dominant alliance in wrestling today.. The James E Cornette alliance RUNS THIS TOWN now! Austin Idol. Bam Bam Bigelow. And Southern Heavyweight Champion Tommy Rich. We are the Gold Standard of wrestling.. We are the Golden Boys! (D+)

So, it's the first card in the PL (Post-Lawler) era.. with our finances probably going down with the TV revenue loss, we may have to do the weekly super shows every two weeks to save money.. but we'll decide at the end of the month.
But, for now, it's time for the Week 4 May SUPER SHOW from the West Meadows Ice Arena in Wisconsin.. (Att:822)
Pre-Card:
In a match that had an average crowd reaction but featured terrible wrestling, Rocky Johnson defeated Allen West in 8:27 by pinfall with a Dropkick. (Rocky, we need a main event face, and you're not cutting it!)
In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Dutch Mantell defeated Jeff Jarrett in 7:48 by pinfall with a Piledriver. (D+)
Main Card:
Bill Dundee is interviewed in the ring. He runs down recent events, and promises that there will be payback. The Golden Boys aren't going to get away with this! (D+, Storyline tick)
In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Bill Dundee defeated Mark Callous in 7:19 by pinfall with a Small Package. (E+)
The Golden Boys (and their manager, Jim Cornette) make their way to the ring, jawing with all the fans (D)
Bam Bam Bigelow, Austin Idol and Tommy Rich have an interview hyping themself by telling everyone watching just... how.. good.. they... are... (D)
In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Scott Steiner in 13:53 by pinfall with a handful of tights. (D+)
Sgt Slaughter is interviewed by Bruce Prichard. Needless to say, he considers Tommy Rich a traitor to the fans and a traitor to the CWA title that he wears around his waist. And he brings up three latin words. Sic Semper Tyrranus. "Thus always to Tyrants". Tommy Rich will get what's coming to him.. and that's... an order..(C)
In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Tommy Rich defeated Sting in 15:38 by pinfall with a Piledriver following interference from Jim Cornette. Tommy Rich makes defence number 1 of his Southern Heavyweight title. (D)
The main event was Austin Idol and Sgt Slaughter. All during the match, Tommy Rich, Bam Bam Bigelow and Jim Cornette stalked around the ring like sharks scenting blood. They waited until late in the match, where Sarge was about to put Idol in the Cobra Clutch, and then hit the ring and beat the Sarge down. Idol was Disqualified, but would this be a case of winning the battle but losing the war? (C)
Austin Idol, Bam Bam Bigelow and Tommy Rich attack Sgt. Slaughter in the ring, and leave him down and out. But Bill Dundee runs in to make the save before to much damage is done. (D-)
C- show, should increase our popularity in the Great Lakes

From the Dothan Civic Center, it's Sunday of week 4 may, and that can only mean it's time for:
CWA Championship Wrestling!
Pre-Show: In a bout that had great heat and good action, Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Sgt. Slaughter in 15:28 by pinfall with a Power Bomb after interference from Jim Cornette (C+.. shouldn't have wasted it preshow, but nice to know those two can put up a rating, and I needed Sarge for an angle later)
When the cameras come on:
Bam Bam Bigelow, Austin Idol and Tommy Rich, along with Jim Cornette, are all sittting around the announcers desk... all are puffing cigars..
Jim Cornette: If you're tuning in tonight to see Jerry Lawler, I'm sorry, you won't see him here any more. You see.. last week, my main man, Austin Idol, did what no other man could do. Beat Jerry Lawler and force him out of the CWA. He's gone. Finished. Kaput! So we're all just sitting here and enjoying our victory, and we owe it all to you, Tommy Rich..
Rich takes a puff of his cigar, enjoying the crowd's hatred. "Thanks, Mr. Cornette. People came up to me while I was out and said "Why? Tommy, why did you help Austin Idol run Jerry Lawler out of the CWA? Well.. it's simple. Two reasons. One, CWA had become the Jerry Lawler show. Here I sit, the Southern Heavyweight Champion.. and I could barely get a match. Why? Because Lawler was hogging the spotlight. And then there's the other reason.. you see, there's a saying.. "He who has the gold, makes the rules". I have the gold. I make the rules. Jim Cornette made it financially worth my while.. and seeing the look on Jerry Lawler's face when I brought that steel chair down.. WHAM.. right in between his eyes? That's just a bonus."
Austin Idol: "I told all of you that I was going to run Jerry Lawler out of town.. and I have! You won't see him no more, ever! And to the rest of the CWA, we have three words of warning for you all."
Cornette: "We're" "Taking" "Over". (D+)
In a TV Title Quarterfinal Match: In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Jeff Jarrett defeated Pat Tanaka in 7:03 by submission with a Figure-Four Leglock. (D-)
Rocky Johnson comes to the ring and challenges Tommy Rich to a match. "Rich! What you did ain't right! Someone's gotta stop the Golden Boys.. and it's gonna be the Soulman!" (D)
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Bill Dundee defeated Dutch Mantell in 12:45 by pinfall with a Small Package. (C-, I'm trying to build Dundee back up.. so far, not so great, but If not Dundee, then whom?)
After the match: Bill Dundee calls out Jerry Jarrett, owner of the CWA and pleads with him to reinstate Jerry Lawler.. Jerry Jarrett is sorry, but the terms of the contract were clear, and the loser of last week's Austin Idol Jerry Lawler match had to leave CWA. It's not right, it's not fair, but that's how it has to be. (D-)
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Tommy Rich defeated Rocky Johnson in 17:14 by pinfall with a Lou Thesz Press. Tommy Rich makes defence number 2 of his Southern Heavyweight title. (C-, And guess what.. Rocky was off his game. Rocky, tonight was your final exam, and I think you failed)
Lance Russell announces that the CWA Championship Committee has announced a #1 contender to the title.. and it's this man.. SERGEANT SLAUGHTER!
Rich sneaks up on Slaughter from behind and hits him with the title. As the show fades to black, Rich is yelling "This is MY BELT, and you won't get it" at the fallen form of the Sarge. (C-)

We make a few talent trades. and a couple signings. Who? Well, a couple of the loan guys you'll see here, the next on TV this week:
It's time for the June SUPER SHOW From the ROme, GA Forum Civic Center:
Bass and Dirty Rhodes are in the ring with microphones. They claim that they are so good that they cannot be defeated by anyone, and so they are making an open challenge for any team on the roster to face them in a tag team match for THEIR tag team titles
Well, they got a response, but not one from the roster.. Instead, out came Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, better known as THE ROCK AND ROLL EXPRESS. Bass and Rhodes tried to claim that since they weren't members of the CWA roster, that it didn't count.. But the referee just lifted the belts up and told the timekeeper.. "RING THAT BELL!" (C-)
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson defeated Dirty Rhodes and Don Bass in 14:43 when Bass and Rhodes "took a powder" and were deliberately counted out. (C-)
In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Sting defeated Goliath in 6:51 by submission with a Scorpion Deathlock. (D)
Scott Hall is interviewed backstage. He tells the CWA fans "I'm getting tired of waiting. Brickhouse Brown is fine tonight, but I want a challenge and SOON." (D)
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Scott Hall defeated Brickhouse Brown in 8:42 by pinfall with a Razor's Edge. (D+)
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Shawn Michaels defeated Dutch Mantell in 16:55 by pinfall with a fast roll up. (D+)
The match is over, and Shawn Michaels is celebrating. Dutch Mantell looks angry, and jumps him from behind, beating him down. (D-)
Bam Bam Bigelow, Austin Idol, and Tommy Rich attack Bill Dundee in the ring, and leave him down and out before being chased off by a number of backstage workers so the scheduled match between Idol and Dundee can start (C-)
In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Austin Idol defeated Bill Dundee in 13:38 by submission with a Las Vegas Leglock after blatantly cheating. (C-)
Sgt. Slaughter had an interview hyping his upcoming singles match with Tommy Rich. (C+)
In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Tommy Rich defeated Sgt. Slaughter in 22:30 by pinfall by using underhanded tactics. Tommy Rich makes defence number 3 of his Southern Heavyweight title. (C-, they don't seem to click. Uh oh.)
C- Show.
Well, we'll stretch it one more month and then ease in maybe our new signing. What new signing?
Does the old saying about the "Best way to catch a thief is with another thief?" ring a bell?
So, who do you bring in as back up if your facing a group of egomaniacal thugs who don't mind the average 3 on 1 attack?
Any guesses? (If you want to send by PM, that's fine) :D

Assuming that the workers are similarly skilled to how they were in DOTT, you're in a hell of a pickle. Assuming that the various contracts & obligations are similar, that complicates matters even further.
I'm impressed that you managed to wring a C- match out of Rocky in Dothan, that's more than I would have expected. I actually went back & looked at your starting roster, Dundee is almost certainly the best option you've got in that crowd at this point, the gap between him & the next best option seems very large.
I know what I'd do in this situation (I think) ... but a steady parade of loaners is a temporary fix at best, not to mention one that carries risk of bad chemistry. Better you than me buddy, better you than me ;)

Well, with no Weekly Super Shows this month (I'll look at the financials at the end of the month and see what they look like), it's the Spartanburg Memorial Auitorium, and it's time for the
CWA Championship Wrestling Week 1 June Att:3,217
Pre-Card: In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Sting defeated Chic Donovan in 7:30 by submission with a Scorpion Deathlock.
In an extremely short match, Eddie Gilbert defeated The Colorado Kid in 5:25 by pinfall with a Slingshot Suplex. (D-) (Colorado Kid off his game)
Main Card:
Bill Dundee calls out Austin Idol: "Idol, I know you and your cronies are back stage. I have a tag team back stage, that wants a piece of you... so how about tonight we do a little 3 on 3 match.. you, Rich, and Bigelow against me and my tag team?"
Idol comes out: "Bill.. if you want the same treatment we gave Lawler and Slaughter, you got it. You're going to be the SECOND legend we run out of the CWA!" (C, Cornette helped Idol)
Eddie Gilbert comes out: "I swore never to come to CWA while the stink of that (censored) Lawler was here.. but guess what? He's gone, and the CWA fans traded up, because they got Hot Stuff. I'm here, I'm hot, and I'm not going anywhere (E+, I think the fans do want him to go somewhere, anywhere away from here)
Jim Cornette, Austin Idol, Bam Bam Bigelow and Tommy Rich are seen talking backstage. Cornette's voice is heard. "Don't worry. If we can't beat em, we'll buy em. We are the most elite congregation of wrestlers in the CWA.. and by hook, or crook, we will stay that way!" (D+)
In the final TV Title Tournament Quarterfinal (finally), In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Shawn Michaels defeated Big Bubba in 7:31 by pinfall with a Superkick (D)
Bill Dundee comes out. "We have a pack of demons loose in the CWA. Bam Bam Bigelow. Tommy Rich. Austin Idol. They're right, they have the resources that mean any one who they think they can't beat, they'll buy off. But you see, I decided to do something Jerry would love. I decided to get me two men who the Golden Boys can't beat, and who they can't buy. I went down to a certain street in Atlanta, fought my way down to the last house on the right, knocked on the door, and invited these two men to the CWA.
They say to catch a thief, it takes a thief. So to help me beat three of the roughest, sneakiest sonofaguns in CWA, I brought in two of the roughest, sneakiest fighters in the world. Ladies and gentlemen, the CWA is now... FREEBIRD COUNTRY....."
Could it be? It most certainly could and it is, as to the strains of "Badstreet USA" Michael PS Hayes and Terry "BamBam" Gordy step out.. grinning at the fans..
They step into the ring, and shake hands with Bill Dundee.
Hayes: "You see, CWA, us Freebirdds are a touchy sort. We're no hand shaking, babykissin type of guys you have gotten used to in the CWA. We love a good fight, and a night out on the town. There ain't nothin those three "Golden Boys" can't do to us that we're not willing to do back to them.. So boys, you better be ready.. cuz when you step in that ring tonight, you're walkin down Badstreet USA, and you always know where to find us!" (C)
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Scott Hall defeated Ricky Morton in 13:39 by pinfall with a Razor's Edge. (D+, Pringle did good work at ringside)
The main event was a memphis Brawl. The referee finally gave up on keeping both teams in their respective corners, and it turned into a Texas Tornado match.. The Golden Boys were flummoxed. They were willing to cheat, to do anything necessary to take out their opposition.. but so were the Freebirds, and the Freebirds were getting the fans behind them in doing so!
Finally, the end came, with Hayes and Dundee scrapping with Rich and Idol outside, Bigelow and Gordy were fighting inside.. Bigelow attempted to lift Gordy up for a powerbomb.. couldn't.. Gordy fought out, pushed Bigelow into the ropes, and on the rebound, hit Bigelow with the Oriental Spike! The three count was assured, and Dundee's new allies had won the first war with the Golden Boys!
In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Michael Hayes, Terry Gordy and Bill Dundee defeated Austin Idol, Bam Bam Bigelow and Tommy Rich in 15:41 when Terry Gordy defeated Bam Bam Bigelow by pinfall with an Oriental Spike. (C)
The match is over, and Michael Hayes , Terry Gordy an Bill Dundee celebrate together in the ring for the fans. (C-)

Well, no Weekly Super Show.. we made a small profit last month (with the Super Shows in place) despite losing the TV revenue under the new contract.. that's a hopeful sign.
CWA Championship Wrestling Week 2 June from the Jake Gaither Gymnasium in Tallahassee, Florida Att:3,365 (SOLD OUT)
The show opens with the Freebirds and Dundee in the ring:
Dundee: "I hear the Golden Boys have skedaddled and aren't here this week while they lick their wounds and figure out what they're going to do next.."
Hayes: "Well, that's easy.. they're gonna continue to get their butts whooped all over the South! Have fun planning boys, but remember, we're the masters of the plan"...
(C)

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Michael Hayes defeated Mark Callous in 6:58 by pinfall with a DDT. (C-, the two have GREAT chemistry together.. something to keep in mind, not to mention the fact that it may be time to start building up Callous)
Eddie Gilbert is in the ring with a microphone. He claims that he is so good that he cannot be defeated by anyone, and so he is making an open challenge for any wrestler on the roster to face him in a singles match. (D-.. when will folks learn that making open challenges is an invitation to a butt-kicking? Not soon, I hope)
In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Terry Gordy defeated Tarzan Goto in 11:28 by pinfall with an Oriental Spike. (C-, Bruce Prichard, Goto's "Translator" did some good work at ringside)
Eddie Gilbert's open challenge was met.. by the Marine Corps Hymm.. yup, the Sarge had accepted Eddie's open challenge... Pretty good match too, Eddie did look halfway decent, but in the end, was locked in the Cobra Clutch, and that was all they wrote.
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Sgt. Slaughter defeated Eddie Gilbert in 13:58 by submission with a Cobra Clutch. (C)
Slaughter addresses the fans: "I know that slimeball traitor Rich isn't here.. but I'll tell him this. He escaped last time, he won't escape this time. I don't endorse the tactics that Bill and his new friends are using, but sometimes, you have to fight fire with fire. And Wildfire, this ain't done between you and me!" (C)
(C- show, not bad for not having any of our top three heels at all)

In a bout that had solid in-ring action and average heat, Rocky Johnson defeated Eddie Gilbert in 12:24 by pinfall with a Johnson Shuffle. (C, and great chemistry. Congrats, Rocky, you've saved yourself a bit, and maybe we can get a feud going here)
In a bout that had solid in-ring action and average heat, Sgt. Slaughter defeated Mark Callous in 6:52 by submission with a Cobra Clutch. (D+)
In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Bill Dundee defeated Bam Bam Bigelow in 14:15 by pinfall with a Small Package. (C, I told them to go all out because this was the fourth time they've faced each other, and it would be penalized if it wasn't the best)

Well, I found out the source of Tommy Rich's injury:
Apparently, he fractured his arm at the NWA Eddie Graham Memorial 1987 (in a great match against someone we just signed).
Hmm.. I smell Danger (He's currently scheduled to face Sgt Slaughter at the big monthly card). Or, considering my last new signing.. an opportunity.

Ok: With one week of TV and one weekly super show to go before the August Supercard, here's what the card looks like: Feel free to guess the winners, plus a bonus question:
Scott Steiner and Sting vs Bam Bam Bigelow and Barry Windham
Jeff Jarrett vs Mr Shima
World Tag Titles: Bass & Rhodes (C) vs Rock and Roll Express
Shawn Michaels vs Scott Hall (No time limit, NOT for the TV Title)
Eddie Gilbert vs Rocky Johnson
Bill Dundee vs Austin Idol: (Dundee's career on the line)
CWA Southern Heavyweight Championship: Tommy Rich (C) vs Sgt Slaughter
Bonus question: What's in that contract that Austin Idol signed that has Bill Dundee so amped up?

Guessing the bonus question
My guess is that there's a "on-demand title shot of your choice" of some sort in there. That lets Dundee (or someone else of his choosing) who has recovered from his match, take advantage of a battered Rich after he cheats to beat Slaughter. Ties back to Hayes cryptic comment from the previous show. This supercedes my first thought, which would have allowed Lawler back in the company, since unless he's been released by the WWE wouldn't be possible.

Interesting guess, Jon... you'll find out if it's the right guess tonight.

It's the Obligatory "Last TV show before a Supercard, so don't give away anything" card.. but it's still..
CWA Championship Wrestling Week 4 July...
Gordy and Hayes and Dundee and Sgt. Slaughter Hype their upcoming matches against Idol and Bigelow and Rich and Windham. "Austin Idol, you done a very bad thing, and we gonna see you pay for it, baby..." from Hayes.. (C)
In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Shawn Michaels defeated Allen West in 10:41 by pinfall with a Sweet Chin Music. Shawn Michaels makes defence number 4 of his CWA Television Title title. (D+)
Scott Hall attacks Shawn Michaels in the ring, and leaves him down and out. (D)
In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Sting defeated Big Bubba in 9:02 by submission with a Scorpion Deathlock. (D.. uh oh.. crowd gave Big Bubba X-pac "Go away" heat. Sorry man, this is not good)
In the main event, it was a four v four preview of the matches at the Supercard, and of course it was a brawl. So much so that Idol and Dundee were over fighting by the announcers table, Slaughter and Rich were fighting their way into and through the crowd, and the Freebirds and Windham/Bigelow were just happy with punching the hell out of each other at ringside... The ref finally gave up trying to control things and called for the bell (C)
The two sides considered the ringing bell as.. well, to be honest they didn't really bother with the bell, and continued to brawl.. as the camera faded, we saw Terry Gordy lift up Windham to slam him through the table, and as WIndham came down.. we fade to black. (C)

Entering their final month of the contract in August:
Bam Bam Bigelow, Downtown Bruno, Pat Tanaka, Paul Diamond, Goliath, Mark Starr, Rocky Johnson, Don Bass.
Let's see, out of those, there's one I'd really like to resign, and that's the Bammer.. Rocky Johnson and Don Bass are depending on prices (normally, Rocky would be a no-brainer, but he's really screwed things up with me).. and the rest.. get ready to go elsewhere at the end of the month guys.

And now, it's the August Super Show, from a sold out (5,000, a record crowd!), Boutwell Memorial Auditorium
Pre-Card: In a match that had some good action and average heat, Barry Windham defeated Sting in 18:09 by pinfall with a Flying Lariat. (C+)
Main Card:
In a match that had some good action and average heat, Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton defeated Don Bass and Dirty Rhodes in 11:56 when Robert Gibson defeated Don Bass by pinfall with a Rocker Dropper. Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton win the AWA Southern Tag Team titles. (C-)
Hayes and Gordy come down to ringside, while they're setting up the cage for Idol v Dundee. everyone's wondering what they're doing.. when they go under the ring.. all is quiet for a few seconds.. and then BAM BAM BIGELOW AND BARRY WINDHAM come flying out from underneath. The Freebirds saw the dirty trick coming, and countered it.. the Freebirds quickly chase Bigelow and Windham to the back. (D+)
Idol and Dundee was another good match, with Dundee's career on the line, Idol tried every trick possible.. but his main ace in the hole, Bigelow and Windham had been neutered, so Idol tried to take it to the next level.. he removed the turnbuckle padding, and attempted to throw Dundee head first into the exposed steel.. Dundee blocked it, knocked Idol down.. and to the chants of "Jerry!" from the crowd, dropped the big fist from the second rope on him.. then lifted up Idol.. PILEDRIVER! Count that pinfall, mister ref.. 1...2...3! Dundee had saved his career (C)
Sgt. Slaughter had an interview hyping his upcoming singles match with Tommy Rich. "Rich.. you Puke.. last time you cheated to win, this time, you won't win.. and that's an order!" (C)
It was Eddie Gilbert and Rocky Johnson next, the two continued to put on a great show for the fans, but the story was that Eddie Gilbert was learning from his mistakes.. and Rocky couldn't keep up.. finally Johnson went for the Johnson Shuffle, and Gilbert ducked, and hit Johnson low where the ref couldn't win.. Johnson crumpled, and it was an easy (if somewhat cheap) win for Hot Stuff (C-)
Having picked up the victory, Eddie Gilbert celebrates in the ring, and goes crazy, running around the ring like a madman, dumping water over himself, and hugging the referee and ring announcer. (E+ the fans might have liked the match, but the histrionics were just a wee bit over the top)
It was a no-DQ and no time limit match between Shawn Michaels and Scott Hall. Despite the fact the TV title was NOT on the line this time, they still fought as hard as possible. The key moment was when Michaels was setting up for the super kick, Hall ducked, and when Michaels turned, Hall kicked him in the stomach, lifted him up and dropped him down on back with a Razor's Edge.. the three count didn't win the title,. but Hall didn't care.. he had FINALLY defeated Michaels.. (C-)
In our main event, Tommy Rich was battered from pillar to post by Sgt Slaughter. He got two count after two count, and finally got ready to lock Rich in the Cobra Cluth.. He reached out, and a desperate Tommy Rich went for the nearest thing he could, hitting the referee!
The Cobra Clutch was procured, but the ref was out cold.. Rich desperately tapped, and the crowd went wild.. Slaughter released the hold, and cheered to the crowd, but unfortunately, the ref had gotten to his feet, and announced that Tommy Rich was disqualified for striking an official. Slaughter won the match, but NOT the title..
(D+, I guess they don't like Dusty finishes in Alabama ;))
As the camera starts to fade, and Tommy Rich slumps in the ring, barely able to stand, Lance Russell shuts off his commentating mike where he had just been lamenting the desperate, dirty trick Tommy Rich had played... and turns on the arena microphone...

Russell: "Ladies and gentlemen, I have just been handed this message by Jonathan Loveless, a member of the CWA Championship Committee. Tonight's cage match between Austin Idol and Bill Dundee where Bill Dundee would leave CWA if he had lost had a second stipulation attached. The match stipulation as follows:
"Should Bill Dundee win the match, he will be named the #1 contender to the Southern Heavyweight title, and will receive a title match. This match will be no-disqualification, no-countout, and may be cashed in AT ANY TIME OF HIS CHOOSING over the next thirty days."
(the crowd cheers, as they begin to understand where this is going...)
"The CWA Championship Commitee has received a message from Bill Dundee. He is cashing this contract in tonight.. he is cashing in this contract RIGHT NOW!"
(the crowd goes berzerk, while Tommy Rich has a look on his face similar to that of Wile E Coyote just before he falls for the last time)
Dundee comes jogging down to ringside, and the Freebirds and an angry Sgt Slaughter patrol the ringside area just to make sure the other Golden Boys don't interfere... (C)

Give Wildfire credit. He knew there was no shortcuts he could take. There was no easy countouts, or disqualifications. All he could do was fight, and he did. He fought to save his title. But Bill Dundee was a man afire, and despite Jim Cornette's begging and pleading from ringside, Rich was being knocked from pillar to post., yet again!.
then Wildfire took the shortcut and went low. He slumped in a corner, while Cornette waited, and then slid into the ring.. He helped a groggy Wildfire to his feet, while the Golden Boys ran distraction attempting to break through to ringside.. Wildfire held Dundee up, while Cornette tapped that loaded tennis racket to make sure it would do maximum damage.. and a grinning Cornette bounced off the ropes, swung for the fences..
and Dundee moved!
Rich crumpled to the mat. Dundee wasted no time ejecting a screaming Cornette from the ring via the most expeditious manner possible (over the top rope, to the delight of the fans), and covered Rich..
1...2.... WE HAVE A NEW SOUTHERN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!
(C)
The camera catches a bickering Windham and Bigelow in the walkway to the ring, a groaning and groggy Jim Cornette, and an unconscious Tommy Rich in the ring.
But the final shot? That of Sgt Slaughter and the Freebirds lifting Bill Dundee and the Southern Heavyweight Championship in the air. (C)
