Time to start another WSOP Pool competition.
Rules:
Pick 10 Poker Players
1 of the poker players must be female
1 of the poker players must not have a bracelet.
1 of your picks can be made "Money Man" and they will score double points for you.
1 of your picks can be made "Main Event Champion". If they win the Main Event, you win the pool by default. (This has never happened, but we've had deep runs by Allen Cunningham, Phil Ivey, and Michael Mizrachi).
Scoring is based on cash won by your players. You get 1 point for every $1,000 your picks earn.
This will be the 8th year of the contest. Previous winners...
2010 - jbergey22
2009 - Comey
2008 - MollyMurphy
2007 - timmynausea
2006 - Barkeep49
2005 - Chubby
2004 - albionmoonlight
The first real event starts Tuesday at 5pm. You can enter at any point during the WSOP, but you will only score points for events that started after you made your picks.

Guess it will be easy to score this year!
But seriously, anyone else should feel free to enter. One tourney is not likely going to make that much of a difference in the final standings.

Phil Ivey Files Suit Against TiltWare, Not Playing WSOP | BLUFF Poker News (http://news.bluffmagazine.com/phil-ivey-files-suit-against-tiltware-not-playing-wsop-20981/)
I sincerely hope this statement will ignite those capable of resolving the problems into immediate action and would like to clarify that until a solution is reached that cements the security of all players, both US and International, I will, as I have for the last six weeks, dedicate the entirety of my time and efforts to finding a solution for those who have been wronged by the painfully slow process of repayment.
I wholeheartedly refuse to accept non-action as to repayment of players funds and I am angered that people who have supported me throughout my career have been treated so poorly.
My name and reputation have been dragged through the mud, through the inactivity and indecision of others and on behalf of all poker players I refuse to remain silent any longer. I have electronically filed a lawsuit against Tiltware related to the unsettled player accounts. As I am sure the public can imagine, this was not an easy decision for me.
I am not playing in the World Series of Poker as I do not believe it is fair that I compete when others cannot. I am doing everything I can to seek a solution to the problem as quickly as possible.
I am deeply disappointed and embarrassed that Full Tilt players have not been paid money they are owed. I am equally embarrassed that as a result many players cannot compete in tournaments and have suffered economic harm.
For many years, I have been proud to call myself a poker player. This great sport has taken me to places I only imagined going and I have been blessed with much success. It is therefore with deep regret that I believe I am compelled to release the following statement.

This year they are doing three heads up rematches of classic WSOP battles.
Moneymaker beat Farha 2-1 in a rematch of the 2003 WSOP.
Chan beat Hellmuth (they only played 1) in a rematch of the 1989 WSOP.
One more match left to play is Chan vs. Seidel in a rematch of the 1988 WSOP. (The one that was immortalized in Rounders).

If anyone has dabbled in the 2+2 stud forums you might recognize the current chipleader in the $10k stud/8 event as a very popular poster there, Eric Rodawig is ChipsAhoya on 2+2. A very good friend of mine bought a piece of his action, something in the 5-10% range I believe. Go go Eric!!!

Still though, 2 second place finishes in non hold em events against brutal fields is an amazing accomplishment 99% of most pros will never do.

Oh, sure. I wasn't belittling him. The non-holdem bracelet thing is one of the biggest knocks on him. I'm sure he was really frustrated to come so close again.

Someone got banned from all of Harrah's properties the other night. He's still in the Main Event, but cannot play it. So he'll be blinded out. He's a name I've heard before, too (Carter Gill). Apparently he threw a woman's clothes out the window. There *has* to be more to it than that, obviously...but I haven't found the cliff's notes.

Poker Player Banned From His WSOP Day 2 Seat — Sports Interaction Blog (http://news.sportsinteraction.com/poker/wsop/poker-player-banned-from-his-wsop-day-2-seat-83056/)
When asked by poker pro, Liv Boeree, what he had done to get banned, Gill went into some more detail saying that the girl’s clothes had contained a license she needed and that she flipped out over it. At first she didn’t care and hung out for a few hours but then became increasingly angry and called a friend of hers in security. Gill claims he wasn’t able to give his side of the story and that security accused him of several things which weren’t true.
When asking for help over Twitter, Gill may want to consider changing his bio which currently reads, “Kinda a pervert. I used to be alcoholic, i still am, but I used to be also.”
There's a link there to an older story about him arrested for public drunkeness during a tournament in an oklahoma casino and an earlier DUI before then. Sounds like quite the douche.

"I would only suck my husbands dick!" This is true sometimes... not most. 80% of girls experimented with takin' da pipe in the mouth before they got handcuffed, if you find one who hasn't. MARRY HER. Because there is nothing worse then finding out your girlfriend has sucked a lot of dick. Frankly, I find it disgusting.

Wow. Alan Cunningham was all in for his life, and behind (set over set), and gets the fourth 2 to win a million chip pot.
Nope. Cunningham hit the quads on the turn, which was before most of the money went in...
We had a big hand on the main feature table just prior to the first break of the day involving Allen Cunningham and Patrick Coughlin.
It began with Coughlin opening for 24,000 from early position, Cunningham calling from the button, and Daniel Negreanu calling as well from the big blind. The flop came http://www.wsop.com/images/cards/2h.gifhttp://www.wsop.com/images/cards/9c.gifhttp://www.wsop.com/images/cards/Ks.gif. Negreanu checked, Coughlin bet 38,000, Cunningham called, and Negreanu folded.
The turn brought the http://www.wsop.com/images/cards/2c.gif. Coughlin bet 95,000 this time, and Cunningham called again.
The river (a blank, as it would turn out) brought another bet from Coughlin followed by an all-in shove by Cunningham for 304,000. Coughlin quickly called, showing http://www.wsop.com/images/cards/9h.gifhttp://www.wsop.com/images/cards/9s.gif for a full house. But Cunningham had http://www.wsop.com/images/cards/2d.gifhttp://www.wsop.com/images/cards/2s.gif for quads, and claimed the huge pot
.
Cunningham returns from the break to a stack of 960,000, while Coughlin has 267,000.

This is the first day I've been able to watch some of this live coverage. Some have said that the edited episodes in past years overinflate the drama and that most of the action is pretty boring. I've watched for about 4.5 hours now and it's been fantastic stuff. I'm hopeful that some of the past live coverage earlier this week can be streamed somewhere. I'd love to go back and watch it.

November 9 again, I believe. This live stuff is experimental (and oh so fantastic...I hope they release a DVD set of this. I'll buy it in an instant.)
By the way, for those who aren't following as closely...as they are down to the final 32...a couple is still in the tournament. For awhile, they were sitting next to one another.
Add to that Ben Lamb, whose amazing series (he's the WSOP US POTY) has him third and chips at the dinner break right now. How sick is this guy?
Still some great names out there...it's a shame Bobby Bellande and Erick Lindgren are out...but Bryan Devonshire, John Esposito, JP Kelly, Phil Collins (young poker pro, not the singer) and Sam Barnhart are still around. Good poker still to be played, especially as everyone chips up...tomorrow's going to be an insanely long session.

A regular guy's journey to the WSOP ... first time I've kind of come away from a Grantland.com piece wondering how it failed to start with "It was a dark & stormy night". Akin to literary masturbation but worth enduring to get the following line (describing a standard character at the tables) "Iggy Pop takes a look at these guys and says, "Wow, he's really let himself go."
