Someone who had over 40 cats ...

O .... M .... G

I'm just not sure if I can have any type of respect for this person ever again. I get that it's maybe some sort of mental disease this person has, but WTF. The place was ... disgusting. Carpets caked in cat shit, cat shit and piss dripping from the walls, couches soaked in cat funk. Had to toss a TV that was completely soaked in urine (and thus the TV didn't work anymore). The garage didn't have a floor, it was just nothing but cat turds.

I still can't understand how anyone could live like that. It was far beyond the filthiest and most disgusting place I've ever been to in my life, and I've been to plenty of Raider games.

Cats were running around everywhere, jumping everywhere ... cats running in and out of the house. Cats running in and out of the cupboards in the kitchen ...

Anyone else ever experience this???

Oh boy, that doesn't sound good.
I'm curious is this someone you know, or part of your job?

I remember seeing a story once of a person who had 50-60 cats, they started with a couple and just kept rescuing them because they hated to see them suffer and they ended up in a similar situation.......must be horrible to see this place in person.....you have my sympathies for having been in that house.

Actually my wife's friend. What's weird is that she's personally always well dressed and very neat. Went there to help her clean the place up. I'm glad that when I got there I was hungry, because if I had anything in my stomach I would have puked it up. The smell was overwhelming ... it was getting to me so bad that I had to hold my breath as I walked through the house to get to the backyard.

Supposedly the cats were cut down from 40ish to 15, but I swear I saw WAY more than 15 cats running around. Hell, 8 (EIGHT) cats jumped OUT OF the two couches I helped move.

I think the place should be condemned. She's trying to save the carpets, but they are a 100% loss and beyond saving. The walls ... I'm not even sure they can be cleaned ... the linoleum floors ... ugh. After the carpets come up, I'd hate to see the floorboards ...

I absolutely LOATHE cats, which didn't help the situation at all :D I was joking that I could solve the cat problem if I had a 22.

Not a cat person, either, so I can't imagine being in your shoes without running out of there shrieking like a 5 year old!

I hope this friend realizes that without getting rid of ALL the cats (maybe keep one or two) that this clean up is all for not...if this round even has any effect at all.

I didn't know what to do. I didn't know if I was going to get a disease there if I stayed, or if I'd be called a pussy if I'd left. I mean, guys are supposed to not care about messes and dirt, right?? But this shit was UNREAL.

I don't think the problem is going to be solved, either. The person obviously has some sort of issue that needs to be worked out. ALL the cats have to go. The house needs to be gutted. We're holding 2 new couches for her now, but how long until those are trashed?

It kind of felt like a lot of effort for nothing, because I think everything is going to go back to the way it was in a few weeks.

I wallow in cow shit on a daily basis. Sometimes I come home covered from head to toe in cattle excrement.

Yet I absolutely loathe cleaning my cat's litter box and find cat shit/piss to be absolutely disgusting. If my house cat had claws I would've thrown her outside long ago.

One of my neighbours is a bleeding heart for animals and has several cats but they do not rule the roost, so to speak. We do benefit from it though as we haven't seen a single mouse anywhere in our yard, garage, shed, or house since we've lived there and being in an older neighbourhood, that's saying something.

But, while I love not dealing with mice, I was doing some yard maintenance behind our garage and shed and all I could smell was cat shit at every turn. Small price to pay, I suppose, but no less disgusting.

You need to call the ASPCA, not in an hour, not tomorrow, but now.

We rescued my cat from a hoarder, the woman had 85 cats, 75% of them had to be put down.

This is nothing short of animal cruelty.

Well, it's not like those 40 cats are going to suddenly housebreak themselves.

It probably is a serious mental issue as well as animal cruelty. I don't know how the ASPCA handles things, but if they can point the woman toward help that would be beneficial.'s ready for help she may just need prodding in the right direction.

I have a friend who doesn't clean up the one cat he has.. could not imaging 15+.

Instead of scooping the poop, he just put another litter box next to the full one, WTF??????

lol - wow. I hate scooping the poop, but seriously - that is just plain lazy (and really damn gross). I can't stand the smell of it, so that helps me get rid of it faster.

Animal hoarders don't care about the animals, they care about the effect the animals have on them.

Amen.. and it doesn't take long.

Unfortunetly, my friend is quite lazy.. and he wonders why he's been single for most of his life.
