A few weeks ago, a coworker in my section mysteriously leaves work one afternoon and we don't see him for a few days. He comes back with two black eyes and a broken nose. He tells us a story where he was in a car accident. Of course, the story doesn't add up, but we don't really push him on it. We kind of joke about it, but we don't do more than that.

Fast forward to last week and the guy is suddenly let go from his position without an explanation. We're all confused and worried if this might be a sign of others being laid off.

Today, another coworker shows me this article and I'm just floored. Completely crazy and disgusting.

This was in the news a couple of weeks ago. Can't remember where I read it though.

What does this have to do with the black eyes and broken nose?

That's what I was wondering.

I like that he got out and came right back to work as if nothing happened.

Why would you interview with the FBI with that background? I don't have a degree in psychology but its almost like he wanted to get caught.

Reminds me of a guy I worked with when I was in the restaurant business in my early 20's. He was my assistant Kitchen Manager and he vanished for 4 days, then shows up after closing one night with a huge, bleeding knot under his eye and reeking of beer. Tells me and the owners son he was kidnapped and held against his will for 4 days, then managed to fight his way free, get to his motorcycle and drive straight to work to lets us know.

Real story discovered later from a former employee who stopped by sometime later. He and the 'Kidnapping' victim were on a 4 day drinking binge and an hour before he 'escaped' his captures they went and bought a couple of more 40's. Our victim started getting belligerant (He had a knack for this) and challenged his drinking buddy to a fight for no apparent reason. The guy finally had enough, smashed him in the face with his 40, leaving him dazed, bleeding and soaked in Beer and leading to the great kidnapping story.

He was fired before we found out the truth as we knew he was full of shit, but the truth made it so much better.

So did he get the FBI job?

Yes. And his first act was to break up a child porn ring.

No kidding.

And Rizon, that image is absolutely fantastic. Perfectly depicted my thoughts :)

I do like how we have to wade through a lie in this thread before getting to the stupid honesty. Give the guy credit for learning from his mistakes at least.

What kind of fucking idiot admits viewing child porn to the FBI in a job interview?

Just how much of a dumbass was this guy in your interactions with him?

I don't know how the FBI works, but if you apply for a position with the RCMP here in Canada you will be subjected to a lie detector at some point during the interview process. That would certainly lead to someone 'admitting' something (either by coming clean because they know the machine will out them, or by failing the test).

Failing a lie detector test isn't the same thing as admitting to the authorities you viewed child porn. You won't get the job for failing the lie detector test, but you probably won't go to jail for it because that won't even be enough evidence to get a warrant. Of course, if someone is such a dumbass like this guy that they'll consent to a search of their child-porn-filled computer, nothing will save them.

Given the facts, I'm inclined to say this was a cry for help, subconscious or otherwise.

Most of the conversations we had were pretty superficial, so I never really gauged his intelligence.

You would be surprised at how many people will admit to serious, undetected crimes during a law enforcement background investigation.
