View Full Version : Three 'tricks' in MP leagues

I'm sure some people have done these, but I thought I'd throw them out there.

1 - During FA, and especially once RFAs/undrafted guys become open game, search for RBs/FBs with high RR, and then convert to WR/TEs. I've gotten a number of 40s/50s/low 60s guys out of this, especially from the RBs. Also make good cheap depth/trade bait.

2 - If you have a guy who needs to be re-signed, but wants a massive bonus and prohibitive long term deal, try waiting until the end of the year, and offering him a big first year salary which levels off long term. Obviously this is an exploit, since they think it matters, but you can get a great player for cheap.

3 - If you have a prospect who suddenly loses his potential (ie, goes from 30/60 to 40/40), try switching him to a similar position, and he will likely go right back to his ratings. I had a 45/65 LT who suddenly became 48/48. Switched him to RT, and back he goes to 45/65.

That may be because he lost experience and got masked again. When he fills out, does he end up a 48/48 RT after all, or a 65/65 RT?

Yea I'm unsure about #3.

A player is however good he is. The OVR rating doesn't necessarily tell you anything, neither does the potential. A player can lose all his potential and still keep creeping. Or not, but I really don't think switching positions affects the underlying numbers that describe a player's skill. Was your LT red in experience as a RT, though? That would be interesting...let us know what happens with that guy.

I did the same with a WR in the TFL, he gained his points back in future and then by the next TC, he was back to where he was before the switch.

#2 isn't a bug, because you still have to have the cap room to pay him for and additional money THAT season.

Assuming FOF2K7 works the same as FOF2K4 in this area, Celeval once explained that each player has a masking factor field in his profile. This factor is only applied to guys who aren't fully developed for their position. So, yeah, the mask simply gets re-applied when a player is changed to a position for which he's not fully developed.

Yoda, that isn't actually true, because you're only charged the pro-rated portion of his salary for that year.
