Think about a character, and Akinator will guess him/her. This is pretty cool.

Neon_Chaos
07-02-2011, 10:00 AM
It failed to guess Paul Giamatti.

Sun Tzu
07-02-2011, 10:03 AM
It successfully guessed Dom Cobb.

Bastard.

path12
07-02-2011, 10:13 AM
Wow. It got Ignatius J. Reilly as well.

OldGiants
07-02-2011, 10:43 AM

30 questions to get to Natalie Portman's character in Where the Heart Is.

Mustang
07-02-2011, 12:03 PM
24 to get to Taarna from Heavy Metal.

It didn't find Hanse Davion (however, was in the DB so.. I might have missed a question)

JAG
07-02-2011, 12:04 PM
26 and one wrong guess to get Jon Snow. The wrong guess was Eddard Stark after 20 questions so not too bad (and the questions got much more pointed after the wrong guess). On the other hand, the genius asked me if the character lived in America with two separate questions.

molson
07-02-2011, 01:01 PM
only 14 questions to get Johnny from Karate Kid.

I. J. Reilly
07-02-2011, 01:02 PM

Well, I am a pretty big deal.

Mustang
07-02-2011, 02:40 PM
Jesus Christ in 10. (Just seeing how quickly it can guess common characters). Darth Vader in 12 and himself in 12. (Akinator was used around 360,000 times and Jesus 75K so.. I'm guessing Akinator might be the most used character)

Oh.. and I don't want to go off on a tangent of Jesus as a 'character'...

CU Tiger

Took 58 qustions to get Stampy from the Simpsons.

SteveMax58

He got Earthquake in 22 questions. Pretty solid.

ColtCrazy
07-02-2011, 07:06 PM
Indiana Jones, Huckleberry Hound, and Lumiere each in under 15 questions. Very cool.

cuervo72
07-02-2011, 07:40 PM
Quark and Carlton Banks both quickly. Yogurt a little longer (high 20s).

edit: it took nearly 40 to get American Maid, who had only been played 18 times. Guessed Wonder Woman at 20 though.

20 questions and one wrong guess for Quinn Fabray. Should've been 8, but it got caught in an is character real loop that threw it off track.

Izulde
07-02-2011, 08:28 PM
It gave up on Rodrigo from Othello after like 68 questions, so I added it to the database.

Izulde
07-02-2011, 08:33 PM
Becky Sharp from Vanity Fair in 36 questions. Wow.

SackAttack
07-02-2011, 08:41 PM
Holy crap. It got Laharl from Disgaea in 15 moves. Given how generic the questions it was asking were, I completely did not expect that.

Sun Tzu
07-02-2011, 09:10 PM
The fact that "Stampy from the Simpsons" in any number of moves is impressive.

Izulde
07-02-2011, 09:11 PM
Celes Chere in 17 questions. Yes I'm on a blonde female kick. :P

Groundhog
07-02-2011, 09:34 PM

cuervo72
07-02-2011, 10:07 PM
Bill McNeil - 29 questions. It got it after the question "Is your character still alive?" :(

hoopsguy
07-02-2011, 10:33 PM
Lt Colonel Nathan Jessup in about 20 questions, after incorrectly guessing Frank Abignale about 5 questions earlier. Played just under 300 times.

19 questions for Bill Simmons, played over 1,000 times.

29 questions for Mr Sinister from X-Men comics, after a wrong guess (around 20) for some character from Crash Bandicoot. Played just under 300 times.

Beat him on "One Armed Man" from Fugitive, although the character was in the database.

18 questions for Michael Irvin, played just over 400 times.

So based on my extremely small sample set, this program does better with sports players than movie characters. Of course, that could also owe to me having more definitive answers to the questions asked about real people as opposed to movie roles where I had to speculate from time to time (more "probably/probably not" answers).

Picked one I thought would be easy, and it was - 16 questions for Don Draper, played over 3,000 times. I knew it was ending soon when questions like "is he a womanizer" and "does the show take place in New York" came up :)

36 questions for Mr. Slate, thought the jig was up after question about character being "barefoot" came up but took a couple more after that. Played 302 times. I'm wondering how hard it is to come up with a character that has been played single digit times.

Buckaroo Banzai in 32 Q's

lighthousekeeper
07-02-2011, 10:40 PM
Snorks (around 24 questions) actually I was going for Casey Kelp of the Snorks, but it guess the generic Snorks as the answer.

Wife & kid are now playing

Zelda Fitzgerald took 28 (and a missed guess of Erma Bombeck)
Three-Dog (from Fallout 3) in 19

Izulde
07-02-2011, 11:53 PM
Mew in 12 questions, one of my lowest totals yet.

Tigercat
07-02-2011, 11:57 PM
Got the Slurm queen from futurama in right around 20 questions, James Buchanan in right around 10. Feels weird being this impressed over something that is 90% pop culture oriented, but it is impressive.

Izulde
07-03-2011, 12:09 AM
Holy shit. 17 for Brandi from Storage Wars.

Izulde
07-03-2011, 12:42 AM
Dennis Rodman - 13 questions
Horatio Nelson - 16 questions
Mr. Rochester - 24 with one wrong guess
Dan Marino - 16

A bunch of others I've forgotten.

So far the only two it's missed on where the database already had the character entered was Haggar the Witch from Voltron and the Wu general Taishi Ci from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, where it was in the right ballpark on all of its guesses, but couldn't quite seal the deal.

stevew
07-03-2011, 01:06 AM
Shit....it found Joel Anthony.

Izulde
07-03-2011, 01:11 AM
Added a third stumper: Catherine Barkley, who was third on his list of next guesses.

mckerney

mckerney
07-03-2011, 03:53 AM
It did not know Joe Garrelli.

SteveMax58
07-03-2011, 05:52 AM
Wow...can't believe Ann Darrow had only been played 31 times.

Took 51 questions but it asked a couple of them multiple times and a few which were complete opposites that didnt make sense. Like I answered Yes to it being a female, but it asked me if the character was an adult man. It also asked me at least 3 times if the character lives in the United States, or is an American citizen, and does the character live in the same country as I do. I thought that was kinda silly.

Overall...pretty cool though.

07-03-2011, 06:37 AM
I didn't count how many questions, but it guessed Fox Mulder first, then it correctly guessed Jimmy McNulty.

ColtCrazy

I stumped him with John Carter (ER.) It kept focusing on characters from House even though I said it was a show that was off the air which I found amusing.
